said it b4 and I'll say it again - the market for a civilian type flying game will NEVER rival Call of Duty etc. Flight will fail among even new gamers because of sheer BOREDOM, no matter what 'missions' they devise - gamers want action, death, destruction, not rings. MS will either have to turn back to us, who simply love flying (EVERYWHERE) or quit the genre.

Just because they bring us Flight doesn't mean FS9 and FSX will suddenly stop existing. There are good products, they have a wide range of third-party add-ons, and third party developers won't suddenly stop producing stuff for them.

@TomDuhamel exactly, even now groups like iFly and FSDT are showing what can still be done with even fs9, let alone FSX. There's years of life left in those sims, especially FSX, and especially now that MS has effectively shut out 3rd party devs. I say full steam ahead with fs9/X addons - to hell with Flight.

I still use / build aircraft and scenery for FS2004. Tried X, and I thought it was shite (go aheadm lynch me if you like). FS2004 is stable, easy to mod, and it feels slicker, without all the tacked-on pretty shit to justify a new sim.

I was not going to get it anyways. Third party developers like PMDG, Aerosoft etc. will just keep developing for FSX. If you would get Microsoft Flight you would get the crappy standard aircraft. And no way that Im going to play X-plane. FSX still is better that x-plane in every simulator aspect. Also a lot more detailed cockpits and aircraft available for FSX so ill just stick to that.

@AlexieChinea You do know that FSX will not disappear nor will it become any less useful. Is FSX meeting your simming needs now? It can be used for 10 years as other have proven by continuing to use FS2004 (FS9) even today. Just use FSX and get on with it. No need to throw yourself on your sword. With FSX default and the Orbx sceneries and the high quality planes that are available, I plan to use FSX for years.
