Video, of course, is far more challenging. It's more challenging creatively, intellectually, technically, and physically.

One area photo is sometimes superior is in prestige. It's entirely perceptual, and it's unfortunate that photogs too often make the most of it.

@doublesizzle welllll. Videos win media wise. But billboards, posters, everyone's facebook photos, modeling, etc. = photography. And photos are pretty much set in stone. When more and more better videos on youtube bury the rest as time goes on.

Rude photographers are way worse than rude videographers. What the photographers fail to realize or care about is that the videographers have to document everything. The photographers can always stage stuff and usually have 2 henchmen carrying their gear and getting 'safety shots'. Rude photographers are usually just douche bags who think they're "artists" because they bought $10,000 of gear from B&H.

When I worked for newspapers a more experienced sports photographer told me "if you ever totally miss the big play, you should immediately shoot the back of the ref's shirt out of focus." in other words, make it look like the ref stepped in front of you and blocked your shot. I wonder what you do if you miss the big shot at a wedding, shoot the videographer's back out of focus???
