  • All that the late Mrs. Mahalia Jackson sang was powerful, with meaning and much purity as see sang. I am one whose greatful that God had created a person such as Mrs. Mahalia Jackson. Yes, I feel deeply that she was a child of God's, who love sharing his word through music.

  • This will be played at my memorial someday. This is the real deal. Love it, love it, love it!!!!!! This is the first lady of soul, long before Aretha.

  • it's crazy that one of my ears was so clogged up that i couldn't hear out of it (it'd been like that all day) but as I got further into this song, it cleared up. Mahalia Jackson has one anointed voice!

  • @aelishaful Jesus wanted you to hear this song

  • Mahalia sings like someone who understands and believes Gods word

  • HALLELU-YAH TO THE LAMB OF GOD

  • Glory to God! She really sang from Her heart God Bless her, What a beautiful inspiration to Christians she was.

  • une voix qui prend aux tripes... merci

  • Thank you so much for posting this moment in history!! To God Be The Glory for Mahalia Jackson!!

  • This is utterly SOUL-STIRRING!!!!

One of-IMHO-the most powerful vocal performances of the 20th Century!

  • Mahalia Jackson had reverence for God unlike so many gospel singers who sing today whose videos are all about them and not about God.

Jackson sang only for God and not for herself.

Many of today's gospel singers use God for profit and for others to look at them and not at Christ.

  • AMEN to that "wonone100", you said something I talk about all the time. At times it really seems gospel artists forget why they are singing gospel and if they really knew WHO they were singing to and for they would take a different approach to gospel music. Even the lyrics today don't reverence God the way they use to, gospel lyrics are about daily life now. That's not a gospel singer that's an inspirational singer. In my humble opinion.

  • They know who they are "singing to" and do not have the brains to take a different approach.

Personally I do not listen to any of them because there are many to listen to that really do sing for the glory of God and not for their own glory.

I doubt we will see the likes of Jackson again.

  • Ella Fitzgerald is good and I love her. But she had nothing on Mahalia!

  • LOL! OKAY?!? Say that Say that :)

  • i wish they had done a duet
