I RAN A 777 AS A TEENAGER....DANG NEARED TURNED IT OVER ONCE....SLID OFF THE WET ROAD THAT WAS NOT BEING KEPT UP BY THE DRUNK HUNG OVER DOZER MAN......HAD A FEW OTHER TENSE MOMENTS WITH IT....WE HAULED UP SOME VERY STEEP ROADS
@SuperCharles1952 did u know a cheif driver called ronnie rocket,,when ROCHE BROS had the pit in the late 90s i worked there, i operated a 992c loader and i also drove a water truck for ROB SASCHE it was a twinsteer mack truck with a mother of a stereo lol,,,
seen plenty of those up at Suncor Mine site in Fort mcMurray. how about a Komatsu 960E. those are bad ass and I think they are a tad bigger than the 797
engineers should forgo the hybrid powertrain and instead opt to directly gear the motor to the axles with 10 separate unsynchronized 18 speeds, making for 180 gears
didn't know Rawhide was that small..i worked at NARM for about 6 months as a temp before i went to Jacobs Ranch..i hear NARM bought 30 or so Komatsu 830E's and another shovel..helluva change from an all Cat fleet
yeah Rawhide is very small with very old equipment. NARM has komatsus' now eh? a guy on my crew that used to work down there told me, not too long ago, that they still only have CAT. i dont know. i'm still a temp of 8 months. no hope in sight for us temps at Rawhide so i'm just going to apply for full-time at NARM. gonna try at Buckskin too.... closer to town.
it'll probably take a while for NARM to get those 830E's and shovel. it's been about 2 1/2 years since i've been there. the oldest truck we have at Jacobs is an 85 ton Wabco truck (the only mechanical drive on the site) that is an 18000 gal water truck. we're not gonna get any new equipment this year, because of our POS dragline and overland conveyor system. we still have the first 240 ton trucks that Jacobs got..oh well
our two 240's at rawhide are our newest trucks. we call them our "cadillacs". our other ten 190's are...phst... pretty damn old and worn out. they're always breaking down. then when we got our new P&H 2100 shovel they thought they'd rent 4 777's (prob. built in the late 70's) to run under it but found they were too small. we rarely ever run them for being broke down constantly. our (mini) dragline doesnt swing very often. it's always broke down. makes a hell of a light plant though!
wow..glad i didn't get hired on there LOL right now we have 47 240 tonners, all Komatsu's except for 6 Leibherr T242 (240 ton) trucks..we usta have 3 Terex MT4400 240 tonners..not bad trucks but they overall sucked..they got broke down and shipped off about a year ago. Our dragline actually does A LOT of work, but when it breaks, it's a high dollar fix. it's near the end of it's 21st cut
what model is this truck 777-D? D models are very comfortable i drove a B model for 2 yrs until i was moved to another mine they hand 2 loader spreads with four 777-Ds man they are a way better truck....can imagine what it must have ben like for you older guys back in the day.....AC??? Heck my ol man said you guys were lucky to have brakes lol......much respect to ya

no, the 797 is rated at 400 tonnes, the 930 e is rated at 340 tonnes, so theres quite a difference.

my mine has 10 Cat 789's and 2 793's.
we just bought a P&H 2100 shovel and we're renting 4 777b's to run under that shovel. Wyoming coal, meeting america's energy needs everyday!
