I bought mine a year ago and love it no issues at all, but mine has the blue rubberized coating on it. Good for me since I DJ and will be upgrading to a digital systems soon.

The "Studio" brand is no longer their performance-level computer. It is now the new XPS line.

But, you might be able to find one in the Dell Outlet. Checking that now....

They do have them, but in VERY limited numbers... If you want one, you better go now before they are gone!

I use wired network because my gigabit network at home is a lot faster than the wireless network. 300 Mbit wireless is just the theoretical speed. In reality is more like 100 Mbit. I also have a 100 Mbit connection to the internet.

Actually for this model you can get a design painted onto it free of charge, or at least dell offered that deal when I purchased it online. They have something like 1600 designs or something, instead of getting just a solid colour

@decisionpolluted I know the question wasn't addressed to me, but I own a 17 inch laptop. It is quite a bit heavier compared to 15 inch screen laptops, plus, it is kinda harder to get good cases or bags for it. Despite all that, I think it's worth it. The big screen is GREAT for watching movies, videos, etc. Hope that helps.

I got one, with really nice specs, I play bioshock nearly maxed, and the touchscreen is cool, but pisses me off. After a bit, it will randomly start clicking on shit. I have to shut it off at most times. If you find a solution to this, tell me, otherwise, I would NOT reccomend the touchscreen.

I have this laptop, here's a couple things you might not have realized since you made them sound useless:

VGA can output 1080p to a monitor/TV, especially since through HDMI you NEED an HDCP compliant screen, and would reduce the quality by 30% and add a 1/2" border around the screen.. happened to me with my Samsung 40" LCD.. Blu-Ray through VGA looks perfect

Ethernet is useful for file transfer through a home network, makes no difference for internet, but is 10x faster than WiFi

The screen res is 1600x900 btw so not full HD but pretty close. I was wondering how bulky/portable the laptop is, it didnt seem that big for a 17" laptop, how are you finding it?

Also, have you tried any games / software to test the ATI4650HD, im getting the same and hoping its good. I really wish I could find this in a shop so I wouldnt have to wait! Hope your enjoying it, you sure were excited :p

I just bought this model (with a slightly worse processor, im a student) from the dell uk website, and the estimated delivery date is 26/02/2010....What a joke. Unfortunately its hard to find dell studio in uk retail shops. So be advised anyone else!
