Creepy with the eyes on the back of the head. Some spider info i would like to share is that spider leg movement has to do more with blood flow and blood presser moving the joints. So when i spider reaches out or straighteneds its legs out its similar to a mans erection giggle. Thats also why when a spiders little heart stops beating its legs curl up.

I have seen three cases where the male kills the female. One was a male phidippus audax wanting to mate a female. He went at her too quick, and she went after him a fraction of a second that he decided to go for her. He got to her abdomen first and went thru with inseminating her, but afterwards, he injected venom because she kept trying to get loose from him. He apparently feared for his life, so he killed her. Strange thing is, he still wanted to mate her some more after he killed her.

I remember seeing a large spider when I was little, from it's body shape, it may have been a jumping spider. It was about 3/4" to an inch in length, fuzzy, black with white markings.

This was in Plymouth, Mi, US, back in the 60's. It may not of been a native, for there were several accidental imports of different spiders in lumber shipments from out of the country to a nearby construction site.

to my surprise, it was the male who killed the partner after a while.

i did not witness the murder, but it looked like a self-defence.

Well they are territorial. I guess his mating displays weren't impressive enough. I had one sling that took it's sibling's front leg off and that one is still with me today and her leg is almost fully regenerated.

Question: Why does the spider drum its second pair of legs as it approaches you at 0:50? Could it possibly be trying to communicate with you?
