  • The good thing about this school's choir is, they ENJOYED the song while they were singing. Did you see other schools' choir? You actually can see one side of the choir members were smiling while the other side were like they were forced to sing.

  • hmm. i think GRSS is so much beta..

  • this is my sister,s school

  • good........but i think smk.st.mary is better

  • ST TERESA LEADS THE WAY!! WHOOOOO~

  • Look at that lady... that Chorister.. LOL. SHE WAS SHAKING!!! SHAKIRA!!! =P hahaxxx..BL is still the best tho.. =P

  • st.3 got 3rd in 2008

  • By the way.. what did St.3 get for district level competition in 2008? I know last year GR was 1st.. so was BL 2nd?

  • no male voices?

    look at smkcbn.

  • I think that's where Parakitos came from =)

  • Still okay i guess, no wonder you guys can't get it to the top 3. But one thing i admire about this choir is that they are very expessive.

  • i agree =) They are very expressive...

  • I can't recognise any of them.. I even talked to one of them but now I watch this vid I can't see her anywhere @@..

I have to agree that I don't like the head shaking.. and they're several slight intonation problems occuring throughout the whole song.. Their expressions are good though..

  • St. 3 is good, but not adventurous haha. Why don't take risks like Sibu, Miri and Bintulu? theirs is good, especially Sibu, they hit C for 5 times (according to markwongsk)

  • And I really love the head shaking..The worst thing in a choir would be the stiffness and rigidity. I don't find it superficial. In fact without it they would look like dead pieces of wood.

  • Yes, the worse thing is stiffness and rigidity. That's why we do warm up exercises before vocalizing. However, head movements are meant to convey something. I think that the choir should just reduce the vigour in their head movements - it will improve their tone quality and also professionalism. A little movement is okay, an excess is visually unappealing.

Good luck for St. 3 next year!

  • I think the st. 3 did great but luck just wasn't on their side..as a girl choir, they have gone far..

  • i think they didn't get top three for state level..mainly because they didnt have male voices ...considering theyre an all girl choir.. i think they did a great job ..!

  • Comment removed

  • Well, they are not adventurous enough too :) But I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about being an all girl choir, cause normally an all girl choir is easier because the harmonisation is better compared with a rojak choir.. in a rojak choir, harmonisation is a problem.

  • yeah, especially an SATB choir, care has to be taken not to pull the two extremes too far. And if it is done, more filling in between = more voices needed = more powerful members... which unfortunately is scarce.

Actually I think St. Teresa had problems with intonation... Quite clear to the trained ear that lots of places are very sharped =(...

And I disliked the head movement =P I never allow my choir to do that... I don't care if it's natural or not coz it looks superficial heheh

  • Good, but not as good as GRSS.. wonder what happened at the end when the results are revealed.. St 3 should've got 2nd place..

  • Too bad that st.3 did not make it to top 3 for the Sarawak region todAy. But a good try...Methodist Sibu is still n will still be strong. That just proves that life is full of surprises. What school represented Kuching division last year?? If i'm not mistaken last year(2008) Kuching division got second for the whole Sarawak state competition.

  • St. 3 probably got intimidated by Sibu (They hitted C's 5 times I think @@)... But all in all, I think that St. 3 lacked adventure, and that was the determining factor of the third place. Being the teacher for SMK Bintulu choir, I think that it was a close but good competition. Our songs were One Day More and Putera Puteri (will be posting them for you soon)... I hated the mikes...

  • U mean form the les misarels ??? ONe DaY MoRe??? OMG! I just love that song. Cool. Hoping to see the vid's. ^^

  • @markwongsk

you do hate a lot of things do u realise that?

  • @markwongsk

aw okay wrong person... don't mind that.

  • Kuching always got something in the state comps.. hmm, i wonder what happened...

  • o.o

  • Well, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu are better than Kuching. That's why..

  • That's not real reason..its because they are lack of male voices..

  • Lack of male voices is still okay, look at Convent Bukit Nanas, no male voices but still Malaysian champ. No male voices is better too because harmonisation is better ohkay..

  • Yep no male voices is not the reason. Sibu Miri Bintulu better?? haha

  • Hmm...I think last year was Green Road choir representing Kuching..GR choir was really amazing...If i m not mistaken they got the second...

  • Yeah 2nd

  • yea it was GR representing.. they sang mamma mia a capella and it was GREAT~! Actually if I'm not mistaken 2005- 2008 Kuching got 2nd..

  • Yea~ Mamma Mia is really great!!

  • i think there shouldn't be the choral speaking shaking heads . If it's synchronized it would be actually nice.

    Other than that, good job~

  • may i know the opening is what song?

i m looking gor it a long time ago...

    thx

  • may i know the opening is what song?

i m looking for it a long time ago...

    thx

  • ce8rGQ dear, if I am teresian yes and it is in my bones to defend my fellow friends but, even if my friends lost, I would not have commented in a sore and pathetic manner regarding their much-deserved win. Yes, they worked really hard too. Can't wait for their performance in bintulu.

  • ena!xD

  • i know why st.3 can win. cos they got more energy.

  • For once the video wasn't lagging and I watched the whole thing full...wow, I have goosebumps from your voices and your oomph..really great harmony..and really great voices ..soo proud of you all..!

  • quoted

'n about wanting to bribe, u teresian are the only ppl doing this.'

    dude,ur sick!

  • well, well, wouldn't it be a little farfetched to asy we actually went to bribe the judges haha?why don't you say our alien friends abducted a judge, brainwashed him and put him back down?wouldn't that make more sense?

Point is, STS choir worked really hard and they won. Be happy, you lost maybe you weren't good enough. Point said.

  • Fine, let's just conclude this by saying is a fair fight. okay?? Anyways, ppl have strong points and not so strong points. But just for once try looking into Choir history will ya? any relations with the judge?? mother of sum student?? or from what school??

  • Well well, you can't just accuse people unfairly just because you didn't win. Every year there are choirs with ups and downs but it's unfair to accuse or speculate because our girls had night practice until 9 did you?

I bet not..our girls worked hard..they didn't study or do homework just for choir..they deserve to win.. for you i would say try again next year..and you know what you should say? Congrats , good job..be a sport, not a sore loser.

  • Comment removed

  • excuse you, but i think all choir members did not do their homework and study until right after choir competition. and not only your school has night practices till 9, other schools have it too.

anyways, we all know who is the actual winner right?

just let state level do the talking =)

  • you're absolutely right..! Sibu Methodist will show them what is really meant by choral singing...

  • @ce8rGQ

yes we know there is no need to blow your own trumpet.

  • My friends are in the team and they missed out on our second school examination for the sake of this stupid competition. How dare you acuse them for what you do not know. I'm an ex choir member and we once practised until 11 pm, thank you very much.

  • Every choir team of this competition practised until half dead, i believe. Think before you say anything.

  • wow!!!its fantastic... =) job well done...heheh

do ur best in the coming comp at bintulu xD

    hi enabananas!!!haha

  • GenSanaka, you are such a huge bitch.

  • For ur information, just try asking international standard professionals. They will tell u why.... n about wanting to bribe, u teresian are the only ppl doing this. If u go ur way under details for the competition, u would take those words back. There is just sumthing that u don ever imagained happened.

  • Ok wad the heck I am teresian but im not in choir..I think they rock not just because I know them personally..It's becuase they rock and they have oooomphhh and they are above average and those jealous haters who are so whiny till wana find the judges and bribe them..just pathetic..sore losers u ppl..

  • You're Teresian, that makes the whole thing clear now. Parakitos is the only one from West Malaysia, I'm sure he/she has clearly explained everything about this choir as a professional trainer. There is no need to argue anymore.

  • hey i think you girls look great and you girls sound terrific and im sure evryone is so proud of u guys!good job!Your school must be so proud..im not even teresian and i reli love ur team!

  • i feel they don't have oomph when they sing... that's my opinion

  • omg. seriously i can't help but fall in love wif ur song selection.. have u any idea how much more u can do wif these songs? very nice jazz numbers.. good choices.. i have ideas for u.. but i dont think its appropriate for me to say anything here.. pm me if u wanna hear frm me k.. :)

keep it up girls... dun worry about others criticizing u.. what doesn't kill u, makes u stronger.. ;D so cheers...

  • hello! congrats on winning.. :)

allow me to say something k.. im with good intentions dun worry..

being an all-girl choir, ur very well developed voices. reli. :) my choir's also ALL girls. so i would know.. but i was just wondering, how come ur 1st song only had 2part harmony? wif voices like urs, u cud have done more than that easily.

omg i love 'say a lil prayer 4 u' haha.. but it'd be more interesting if u gave it a bit of a jazz touch :) my team will so kill me for talking to u kids here

  • LOL!! bellina.. im sure u were so annoyed with that guy.. cant he just sit still???? :D..

  • WoW, i can't believe that sarawakian judges were so "great" that they r so "professional" to choose "THIS CHOIR " as champion....they must have a heck of a standard. May i know who they are ??? Mind Giving full names??? ~We do what is rightful and justice~ ~Play fair and JUDGE fair~

  • You say "Sarawakian judges" as if you're not from sarawak yourself..

  • bravo!

  • average..

  • quite nice i think.. but when they shake it makes me dizzy @@""

  • The BM song is better i think. I can't make out any words in the first part Eng song. A bit rushed too.
