I believe Leonard Bernstein was quoted as saying; Louis Armstrong was the most influential musician of the 20th century. Watching this video makes you understand this. Satchmo is beyond peer. He is simply amazing and brings tears to my eyes. And there's Trummy and the wonderful Ed Hall. Thank you so much uploader.
I don't have an accurate date but since Danny Barcelona is drumming and not Barrett Deems anymore and Hall is still in the band, it's early -mid 1958.
I'm no Benny Goodman by any stretch of the imagination, but Ed makes ME cry!
WOW! What talent!! I wasn't born until much later, but sometimes I still "yearn for those good ol' days"!! What inovators! We owe these folks (and those that came before) so much. Our modern musicians don't exist without the groundwork folks like this laid down for them-luckily, most of the modern folks haven't forgotten this fact, and do their predecessors honor by continuing the journey! Cheers!
Hall's tone is sublime.

Thanks for all your guys' great comments!
SKITREES, you hit it right on, right on! They were the ground-breakers, the innovators, the first ones and to me the only ones :)
