  • I wanted to make a post here as a way to keep tabs on myself and my driving. I am 21 and I have always had an extreme fear of driving. When ever I drive it feels like the first time. However I graduate in three months and I want to have my license by that time. I start practicing today and will use all the tips I have read in the comments and this video to help. I will let you know how I do in a few days. Wish me luck!

  • How long it took u guys to overcome ur driving fear? And finally have ur license. And also how to overcome it?

  • @nanthaly24 im still not over my fear but im finally going to take my drivers test tomorrow im 18

  • looks like they ran over sumthing at 0:36 XD.....jk

  • Great channel, I'll reccomend alot of this to my pupils in the UK.

  • accelerate hard and rock:D

  • Aw i was watching the video i kept seeing the back ground and wondering why it looked so familiar, then i read the description, and you were literally driving past my house haha

  • Omg, every time I drive I always try to be confident but once I feel my cheeks turn red I feel afraid. I can drive but that feeling scared tends to take control. I was wondering how does one know how to control the steering wheel?!

  • @saritajakhere I totally agree. I want to go out alone, but I don't have the confidence. I chicken out lol

  • I'm 25 and I just started driving. I used to be terrified, but the more I drove the less it scared me. It helps if you have a calm and relaxing person with you.

  • I drove for the first time today. My dad sent me on a very busy highway. I ran a redlight. I suck.

  • i had like a quick 15 minute drive around town... and then went to like 45 mph down a highway, it was scary and nervewrecking to transition so quickly for a first EVER time driving.

  • i get scared when i drive

  • @maxey83112 I dont...though I do get somewhat nervous on interstate highways

  • @princepersia1 listen dipshit, some people like me, have severe anxiety problems and we have a hard time to try not to be scared of driving. your ass shouldn't start driving that young. what retard lets your drive that yuong anyways?? gee, we're so fuckin sorry we're not perfect like you are!

  • @princepersia1 first of all, i didn't misread any of your info. i fuckin know that you're 19. you have such a bitter heart and don't have the knowledge that some people do have a hard time with certain things in life, and driving is one of them. driving IS a skill, AND a privilege...wtf is wrong with YOU???

  • @AmericanGirl8807 How the fuck is driving a skill, it's like saying walking is a skill, sure it is but EVERYONE knows how. Driving is done by MILLIONS, so not being able to drive means you're retarded. The point is try street racing and driving hot laps on a circuit and then talk about skill. Have you ever been to India, Iran, Thailand etc that is driving that is quite challenging and yet kids drive there let alone here in the US where driving is nothing. You should be able to with eyes closed.

  • @princepersia1 whatever dude, it's fuckin POINTLESS discussing shit with you. In one ear, out the other. I'm so done with you. And no, I didn't fuckin quit talking to you because "your answers are correct and know that you're right." You're wrong. It's pointless. Have a nice life :)

  • @AmericanGirl8807 I really wanna see you in the military, you think driving is stressful all I have to say is LOL x1000. You would die just from the anxiety in the foreign conflicts. What pisses me off is pussy whiners like you whining on how it's hard to drive when there are bigger things in the world. People like you are the retards who crash into people like me and damage expensive cars and endanger lives. Then you get out and apologize like degenerates and pretend it's not your fault. BITCH!

  • @princepersia1 this video is for teens beginning to drive. why would you watch this video anyway if your so good at driving..your probably not in the military.. i can only imagine you when you first started driving. you probably crapped your pants Mr.princepersia..... and us beginners wouldn't be hitting people like you if you weren't in the way of us! :p

  • @Coolguy2397 I am 30 and I just learned to drive. I am terrified of changing lanes on the freeway. The guy's just a troll I guess. :P

  • @saritajakhere I am 26 and I really want to know how cause taking a bus sucks if you want to expand your reach in the world. Also, I need to do this to open myself up to greater opportunities(cause I just graduated from college.)

  • @BladeGT I know what you mean. Driving to me means independence. I don't have to wait for others to take me around anymore. I guess the only way to overcome the fear of driving is to drive more and more. I have started driving alone recently and I am doing just fine. The key is to be aware of what is happening around you ALL the time. Watching for other cars' turn signals... judging the distance between your car and the one behind you.. I am getting better with practice. :)

  • It also helps to glance at the rear view mirror and the side view mirrors every once in a while even when you are driving on a straight road. I learned to drive with my mother-in-law who is neurotic and impatient. I think that caused me to become a nervous driver in the first place. You really do need someone patient and easygoing to teach you to drive.

  • @BladeGT i know taking a bus sucks, you just graduated college! you can do it! :)

  • Comment removed

  • thx thx thx.. i got my license today...

  • The three lane roads are best for beginners. You don't have to worry about cars getting too close to you and try to make right turns more than left. At least for myself that helped get me over that first nervous hump.

  • @bigz547899223 Don't feel bad, I'm 25 scared as shit of driving too.

  • pull over in Newark, you got robbed or shot....or both.

  • 1:08 MCDONALDS. That is all.

  • dont understand how people are afraid of driving. im 16 dads like take the car home now i was like (YAY) drove on the highway in dallas very populated, didn't crash or get crazy nervous.

  • MrTheGrabber - I just started driving today too and I forgot a couple of things! You'll get better with practice and so will I! Love the parking lot - ton's of fun! Happy and Safe driving!

  • I had a driving lesson yesterday, my heart was beating so fast when i set off and a car came round the corner i wsa thinking AHH but i was brave like Chuck Norris and continued driving then i made a controlled stop near the kerb like a BOSS.

  • Good

  • The car fears me.

  • Oh fun, I got my license on July 7 at 8:37 am with a 92. I'm still inexperienced as fuck and I'm surprised I passed so well...>___> Look out driving world, here comes the noob!!!! :3

  • LOL never had a fear. I drove on my 16th birthday :P

  • I'm sixteen and I got my permit about a month ago.

My mom just started to take me out for drives and I hate it.

I'm always afraid someone will run into me or vice versa.

I can pretty much do everything fine, except make turns correctly. -__-

    Fml.

  • I always white knucle while I drive and I'm 18. August 11th is my driving test and I hate it. I don't think I'll pass even though I'm a good driver as many people have said to me.

  • Driving is EASY. Driving WELL is more difficult.

I took driving lessons and that taught me the basics, but I didn't become comfortable behind the wheel until I got my own car and started to drive around on my own and go onto highways late at night to practice.

After about a month I was fairly comfortable driving, but it took me several more months to learn to be a less timid driver and now when I see an opening for a lane change etc, I make sure the coast is clear and go without hesitation.

  • F alse

    E vidence

    A ppearing

    R eal

  • I got a Box on Wheels lol, i was super effing nervous on driving but like 2 months later it was not a problem

  • i have no choice but to drive a van for my road test. HELP

  • don't drive a van for your driving test get a smaller car like a civic much easier

  • @bigz547899223 Word.

  • I mastered the clutch went on a freeway changed lanes in my 3rd day !! I'm so PROUD of me

  • I'm 20 I have taken lesson but I'm still terrified I live in the city I get so nervous driving in the street.

  • I am still scared to drive, I just take the bus. Driving is too hard for me.

  • IF I HAD A BETTER TEACHER....ID BE BETTER OFF

  • OK, so, I'm almost 21, and I still don't drive. But, my friend is going to teach me how, starting tomorrow, hopefully. I need to know how to drive. I can't rely on people to take me everywhere I need/want to go.

  • @travis7310 same here! I'll be 20 soon and it's kinda hard to be completely independent when I have to rely on others to take me places. >___< I wish you luck in your learning!

  • @voragoanimus Thank you. Well, I did some driving around my neighborhood today, and I did pretty good. My best friend (whom I was driving with), gave me a 6, on a 1-10 scale. It's really easy, once you get the hang of it. I'll be doing some more driving on Sunday. :D

  • I'm almost 20 and I'm scared shitless of my driving test next thursday. Let the calming down commence! >___<

  • @travis7310 Howd did it go bro? I just had my first lesson with my dad today. Hes litterally drove milage more than it would take to drive around the world. He gets angry real quick

  • @Werdxp Well, she gave a 6 out of 10, which I have to say is pretty good for someone who's never driven before. I did make some sharp turns, though, but, after I made more, I got better. Plus, her car is an automatic, so, it's a lot easier. I tried to drive my mom's car, which is manual, and that was scary. Def. learn on an automatic!

  • @travis7310 exactly, good luc

  • @xoxomystyle I'm doing quite well. I'm finally driving down double laned roads. But, I'm not quite ready to go into traffic yet. I mean, I'm sure I could, but, it's kinda intimidating. But, for someone who's never driven before, I'm learning quite fast. I do tend to have a lead foot, though. I don't realize I'm going too fast 'til the person I'm with tells me to slow down. Not safe to do when you don't have a license. Luckily, no police have been around when I'm out driving.

  • dude the first time i drove standard I crashed into my house and almost over my mom

  • only thing i want to do is to drive xD i love drivin g xD

  • @bigz547899223 this helped a lot because i can relate, I am 18 but we can do it guys we can!!!!

  • i thought it was nerve wrecking, not nerve racking

  • i was like this about 9 months ago but driving is easy when you get your own car

  • Honda Accord 0:25

    P.S. Thanks for the tips.

  • I guess I am ready now : }

  • mcdonalds!!!!!!!!! 1:08

  • when you pull over then they pull over thinking you want to fight.

  • @0ogie420 i dint get to practice the steering in an empty lot my first lesson was on the road :/ but he was patient so its cool

  • I'm broke, with a job and young

So I'll just jack somebody shit and practice like I use to.

  • Only people that are scared to drive are those who can afford to be scared. If you are forced to drive being scared will not stop you. (whatever the reason is for you to drive. School, work, etc)

  • @bigz547899223 drive 3 times a week, in heavy traffic, alone. Pu your fav music on :) It'll be second nature before you know it, I used to be just as scared.

  • Thank you Jesus!

  • 1:08... McDonalds owns?! :D

  • @bigz547899223 Me too :(

  • I drove for the first time today. You need someone tolerant, easygoing and very understanding to teach you for the first few times atleast. Preferably, someone who was in your shoes as well when they learnt to drive. The key points are:

    1) Steering control (Practice in empty parking lot)

    2) Remember to give turn signals.

    3) Speed gently and brake gently too

    4) Parking and reversing will take a bit longer to understand because I just found out first hand like an hour ago.

    Thanks..........!!

    2)

  • @MrTheGrabber

    Hows your driving now?

  • Wow, he's totally helpful. If "you're really nervous, try to relax"! If it was that easy I would not have a problem with cars. That's the thing, I don't know how to relax.

  • There should be a road driving channel on TV.

  • "...because if you get nervous your going make a mistake and damage your car or yourself." Well you just stated why people are after of driving. If you crash, that's your ass!!!"

  • Does this guy even have his license?

  • really? people get scared...i was excited as hell!!!!!

  • I understand why people get nervous, im 17 and i still get nervous once in awhile. But when i first started driving i was pressured by people behind me. Now it's like "whatever, i'm still learning don't get mad at me." There are still things i have trouble with and that all natural of course. But i think the real thing here is the more you drive the easier it becomes. That's all it takes.

  • Main thing is stay calm, take it slow at first, and know where the side of the car is.

  • I fear cos I need to drive on the 'wrong' side of road n left hnd drive car!

  • The first time i drove was when i was 13 and my mom forced me to drive i knew because of my dad he taught me but driving is so fun and im still 14!!!!!

  • Good video I was nervous for about a week a but after 3 weeks I was going forty plus. And going 60+ after 3 months so there is nothing to get nervous about and I love driving and rarely get nervous, except when parallel parking for I can't

  • with auto transmission there is no need to use both hands on the wheel at all times. having both hands on the wheel at all times is very unrelaxing. the most important thign is to believe in you're own safety methods nto what somebody else tells you. if you only go by what soembody else tells you then you will not be relaxed as you will be thinking what soembody else has told you. there is not precise exact way to drive as it isn't rocket science. you gotta have ur own style

  • Good sounding advice but what do you do when your driving instructor is killing your confidence and making you a nervous wreck?

  • im nervous, i want to drive but i have a feeling that i will get into an accident 1 day. but im hoping the go kart will give me a chance to get a good start :)

  • i crash my dads cars in a dumper and it damage the door the first time.

  • my first time driving i did good and ima female..just relax drivin is easy as 123

  • I almost hit a little boy and his father on my first time driving.

  • A almost hit a little boy and his father on my first day of driving.

  • be calm, ok easy to say hard to do. I'm driving instructor for 10 years, the only way you will relax is if you look fare away when driving. Remember car will go where you look. Looking fare you have time to react in case something happen. If someone is tale gating you and you the best ting is to increase the distance in front of your car this way you don't have to stop suddenly so plenty of time to prevent the driver behind.

  • this guy is amazing i have my test next two weeks and this is helpful, going to practice today

  • If someone is tailgating me, All I do is (if i am going over the limit) I slow down to exactly what the speed limit is and just go at that. It all depends if they can stand it or if they're impatient bastards and decide to pass

  • love these helpfull videos

  • dude I totally wish you were my driving instructor. I just got out of drivers ed and my teacher was kind of a douche bag.

  • Whats the difference between freeways, highways, interstates? I dont get it, I have like 20 minutes of expereience, and driving for the first time in Drivers ed tommorow, Im so nervous, I never know what to do when im on the road, i always ask what the speed limit it, and stuff

  • @ItsKnucklez Am not american, but I believe thats is a useless and stupid comment. -raise reply-shield-

  • lool.....

  • I remeber my first time driving... it was...intreating...

I know one kid his FIRST TIME jackedknifed a semi... I want to see this guy with a girlfriend... he knocks her up when he loses his virginity?

  • You just drive, there is no intimidation.....If someone cut you off, race them.

  • I'm 17 and I'm learning how to drive, I mean I know how I just needa be better at driving so I've been practicing but I live in a neighborhood that has security driving around so yesterday I practiced and practiced and I was been cautious with the light signals n stopping, wearing my seat belt. But I was told I CANNOT practice cause one of the neighbors were complaining. Like yeah, I was going 100 mph in a family-living area, plus I wouldn't if there kids in the street or animals.

  • I like to mention, some people don't need to rush out and get a car, I know there are lots of pressure, (Especially for teens) But I also find, wait till your a little mature, so your not so afraid, when i was 16-20, I was so scared to drive, but now that I am 22 (23 in November) I am a little more mature, and not so afraid, and can't wait to go to my driving school soon, I am filled with anticipation, then fear now, I wanna get it, makes life easier, and no longer to rely on people!.

  • Good video . Like how what your saying is typed out on the screen aswell.

  • i'm worried about driving and im only getting my permit and im not even getting that until september and i'm teaching myself to drive i only get to drive an automatic and its only from the beginning of my street to my driveway and park it at the end of the driveway not very far

  • THANKS MAN U HELPED ME

  • I'm so embarrassed about not being able to drive. I mean I can drive, it is just the possibilities and the rules that freak me out and make me nervous.

  • @zakiemon i know how yu feel when i was first learnin how to drive. my mom would yell at me. but every time i would make a mistake i would just think of a little sayin that we russians have come up with . why do russians fall?. so they can get back on the horse.

  • @buba666able Thanks for this comment. In my case it's my older sister yelling at me. But your words were inspiring.

  • You can learn to drive in 1 day

  • @R2FUK haha not really

  • @Don786k i'm was so excited to drive back then. i broke the rule of an instructor and just drove all the way to the free way at 80 mph cross over cars

  • I like it

  • lol the guy in the mini van on the left was 1 hand driving nd straight chilling. :D

  • police make me very nervous lol

  • Todays my first time driving. Just got my permit the other day. I was so nervous that I stopped even though theres no stop sign. lol.

  • This is what I said to myself to get over my fear: "When it's your time, it's your time."

Why spend life worrying about when you will get hurt if worry decreases the quality of life, if overdone?

  • I am pretty confident these days in the day time but night time driving still makes me nervous as hell. My last session was on a country road in the wet. Half the time it was a struggle to see the white line or impossible with idiots who do not turn off their high beams. I am so frighten I'm going to cross the white line and have a high speed head on. My instructor say's I am doing fine but I am still so nervous when doing night driving.

  • if you're scared like me, just say to yourself: fuck it i got insurance anyways.

  • tehe im 18 so i cant get my a class lisence yet but as soon as i hit 21 ima getting it and be better then u :) lol ur videos r great :D

  • I am kinda nervous myself...I remember thinking it was not a big deal when my uncle let me drive his car...BIG MISTAKE...i got in a car accident that day...since then i been extra careful! its not a joke!

  • I didn't know getting honked by other cars can be so nerve racking and can make you really nervous when you're a beginner. Damn!

  • @izsquall2

You know what my instructor told me does when his students get honked at and is making a traffic scene?

Turn on the hazard lights and open the hood. Once the bastard realizes he has to make do with the limited space and passes, he returns back to the car where his student is calm once again not being hounded by impatient drivers. You do have to act good so that you're not called up on your bluff, or so he says.

  • You cant make mistakes in automatic :D

  • I'm 29 & I never learned how to drive because people in St. Louis are in-fucking-sane. I live in the city with THE WORST drivers in the USA!

  • @freakondaleash91 lol Serves that guy right

  • 1:12 ya that helps

  • im 18 years old and overcome everything is on my road..and i dont let anyone overtake me !

    thats cool wright??

  • Dont do 50 km/h in a 15km/h Street speed limit... especially when youre minor... like me!

  • i dont think i will ever drive, im a very nervous person and anxious a lot. it really sucks because im 23 and i want to do so much and i cant because i dont drive.

  • @etoilediva

    I know exactly how you feel! I'm 24 :(

  • @etoilediva

I used to think that also. I just got mine and I'm 29! You really just have to do it. But it all happens in good time. Good luck!

  • @kristastjames thank you! i know i just think negative all the time. when i practice driving around my neighborhood im fine because theirs no one around. its the though of driving in actual streets and around many cars that really frightens me. i just think about hitting another car or not being able to drive right. im very glad to hear that you were able to get over it, hopefully someday i will be able to.

  • I'm so scared too..I live in New York City and there is too much trafic everyday...I'm petrified..God help me!

  • severe damage to yourself? that makes me nervous

  • HOW TO GET RID OF FEAR

    1.if someone's tailgating you-so be it,let them follow u..they can't read ur thoughts-they dont know hu u r-so do..

2 If they keep on beeping u-ignore them-dont respond

    3.always get inside ur lane-don't overtake,and don;t even think about it-take ur time don't panic don't hurry..

4.always remember-wen ur on the right lane and someone bumps behind,it is always their FAULT.

5.the life of others may depend on u,be cautious and safety first always..

  • Another thing u can do if somes tailgating u is pub hard pressure onto your brakes. Bu keeping the car rolling DO NOT STOP. This then puts the shits up them and they sure as hell will keep there distance.

!!!DONT TRY THIS WHEN YOUR ON YOUR DRIVING TEST OR ON YOUR LESSONS. THIS IS NOT PART OF THE HIGHWAY CODE!!

A little bit of fear goes a very long way though to prove your point.

  • wtf, are these SUBTITLES ON YOUTUBE>??? my life is complete.

  • When you go on the interstate and perfect it, that's when your fear is gone.

  • so, being nervous = more mistakes? dam im fucked...

  • The first time i drove in traffic some soccer mom was tailgating me. and as i soon as i turned she sped by me for no reason. I was even going a little faster than the speed limit and the old hag was tearin shit up.

  • @sevenththorn They are Vicious

  • i'm 19 yrs old and a mother.. my husband works and supports our family and we have enough to make it.. but it would be nice to have more money ya know? I would also like to stop relying on him to pay all the bills and take me shopping all the time.. the thought of driving turns my stomach I need help.. I can't get a job if I cant drive to work..I have never had any desire to drive not even at 16 im so scared.. the roads where I live are really twisty and small on top of it all

  • I got my permit on jan 7th my 15 bday and i have driven on a road since then but today was my first time driving oon the interstate and about 30 min into the drive it turned into a 4 lane highway i was alittl enervous but it kept me cautious and we didnt wreck or get any nasty looks from ppl lol

  • That really doesn't help. If someone else is making you nervous pull over so they don't cause you or the car severe damage? Right.. this definitely does not help ppl with real fear of driving. The reason why I fear driving is the because of the lunatics that already have a driving license.

  • It's always hard to trust the other driver, isn't it?

  • @Cable3999 I wrote that the day before my first lesson so I was really edgy. I've since had 6 lessons & I agree pulling over to calm down if you get nervous is the best way. Someone beeped me because they were tailgating me & I was too slow & it did affect me. Feeling nervous really affects ppl's ability to drive. The key is to have a gd, fun instructor who you trust completely.

  • @kayembers I agree with you

  • @kayembers same here. i have a fear of others

  • @kayembers lol i know the feeling, i'm nervous of running into stalkers, carjackers, or if someone sneaks in the car while in a store, etc.

  • I got my license about a year after I joined the Army. I learned to drive manual in a 5 ton truck starting on a hill. You had to keep the truck in one spot by using the gas and clutch. :)

  • The most important thing about driving is getting into the habit of doing it right and legal. Even if nobody is around. Because then when you actually need to do it right, it will just happen naturally. So signal for your lane changes and turns, look before you change lanes and don't just signal 1 second before you change lanes.

I HATE it when morons signal AS they are turning or changing lanes. What is the point in that? Might as well not signal.

Don't be one of these people. :)

  • thanks ;) the only concerns I have about driving is Turning and Overflow of Traffic..

  • Oh boy, I hate turning. x|

  • @HunterXray Going to be fully honest. I do that. I really try not to. But both of my parents do it and I have rode in vehicles with them since I was a baby. Watching them do it for that long and then me driving, it's hard not to.

  • he passed a nice mcdonalds 1:08

  • fat ass

  • yeah haha, i noticed that too.

  • Was this recorded in Arizona? It looks like it.

  • Bio: Tony Lawrence is a professional driving instructor in Tempe, Ariz.

    So, I think it is.

  • I almost ran over a motorcyclist my first time driving. I got a "FUCK YOU!"
