Though here are a few suggestions:

1) You can access command prompt just typing "cmd" in the search box of the start menu.

2) If you simple replace the the Minecraft_Server.exe in minecraftLAN folder, you don't need to change the server.properties to "Online-mode = false"

3) Would've been great if you had used screen capture instead, with the written instructions in the description. (Though of course, that means investing money in a good program)

@TheDaxilon Hi, I wrote this program myself. It may show as a trojan because it runs some DOS commands, which can in theory harm your computer.

This program however does not, if you don't trust me check my other video "How to play Minecraft Multiplayer LAN", there are no downloads and it works just fine.

Also, I left commenting and video ratings open so people can see that this is legit.

1.) you need a fresh Minecraft_Server.jar file and the start up for it.

2.) u need the server.properties from this video

Im unable to get this working. The choosename.exe wont launch minecraft and after reading the set path tutorial I have no idea what I'm doing. Ive got this working on 2 computers but havent a clue what to do about the one.

@spiritcrunch if you are trying to launch from desktop it wont work on windows 7 because the desktop has restricted permissions

@spiritcrunch if chooseusername is not launching minecraft, you are probably trying to run it somewhere it doesnt have the nessecary permissions, eg the desktop, place it in some other folder and try it :) let me know if you have any problems

@95myhre you are trying to connect to an "Online" Server, if it is in fact a local server, change the online=true --> online=false. in the server.properties file, which is created wherever you ran the server.exe

I think your Folder before java must be jre6 because I tested it on all my laptop with jre7 it doesn't work.

eeh "chooseusername" opens an old version of the game where you only can type an ip address not save or anything. do you know how to change this to an new version i got on the computer?

@isaest Another user had this problem, the solution was

C:\Users\YourNAME\AppData\Roam­ing\.minecraft\bin and delete the older versions of mincreft.jar. See the description for what he posted ;)

@jackinho333 It wont work if you try run it from the desktop, because it may not have sufficient permissions, also the java Path variable may not be set (see description)

gamemode player mode

player = your username on the server

mode = 0 or 1, 0 being survival and 1 being creative mode.

eg, gamemode John88 1 (change John88 to creative mode)

@Messi0405 If you know the username of anyone who is an op on that server, you can enter their username into my program, pardon yourself under their name, then log back in under your own account. (This wont work on an authenticed server)

a) trying to connect to an authenticated server

b) you have not set your local server to offline

do this by opening the server.properties file with a text editor

and change the line, online-mode=true to --> online-mode=false
