For a civic to weigh in at 2800 lbs it's most surely full weight and then some, that's pretty heavy for that car. Judging by the amount of spinning troubling him, I'd bet if you give him a set of good tires, he would have gotten you every time. I can see the way he reeled you in at minute 1:10. Better traction for him in 2nd gear would mean end of the race pretty quick for you.
