You are so right on. I used to swear by this franchise. Definitiely voted people out of games for not paying attention. Once we voted a dude out of our game because he caused us to loose the match by camping a loss and then asked why we were mad and then followed it up nu saying, "this is just a game" instead of owning his stupidity and making it right in the next round. I have yet to purchase another shooter after Confrontation (12 dollar buy) because I am lost.
You are brilliant sir. Socom 4 has completely deviated from the Socom franchise in an attempt to assimilate and be more like main stream games such as Call of Duty. This game was a disgrace to the Socom Franchise and it is clear that Zipper Interactive had their head so far up their ass since there wasn't ONE SINGLE WATER MISSION. It didn't feel at all like I was playing Socom, but rather I was stuck in the middle of some crappy action movie with a John Wayne wanna be.
Socom 4 def isnt the greastest socom but its not that bad once you play it for a while and you get used to it and find out what works and doesnt just like every other socom, plus get good at it then call ppl noobs

I don't blame Zipper for making a shit game. I blame COD! That game was such a huge success that you can't blame Zipper for trying to steal pages from their book. The issue is, they took so many pages from COD that it's not Socom any more. Games do evolve but to evolve so much that it's a different game all together is just sad. People are still going to buy it and make Zipper proud of what they put out. So thanks Zipper for making me have to spend more time with my wife, instead of gaming! :)

personally.. i think they should have taken the confrontation engine and tweak up the aiming system... and cause now im thinking slant 6 did a better job on the transition to the ps3 console...zipper better call the psp game developers (slant 6) to bail them out ... my personal view... but i looked at a recent poll and socom 2 was the best and confrontation was second.. interesting.. do u like confrontation engine more with the over the shoulder view?
Socom seems to be a totally different game now. No more demo, breach, CP, Escort, etc, disappoints me, and the fact that it's newb friendly is a love/hate deal with me. Having said that, I just payed the last of my pre-order today because I am a hardcore SOCOM fan. And even if it's shit like Confrontation, I still play it because everyone you play with that is a Socom fan complains about the same things and I enjoy the Socom community. SOCOM players know what a good game is simple as that
there is real radar , well tactical tag in real life , where the satellite , drones and boots on the ground mark enemy targets , there is technologies being developed to project the data onto real time eye pieces so u will be able to see the enemy in real time

I'm as hardcore as any SOCOM fan, but despite the fact that SOCOM 4 isn't what I hoped it would be, I'm still having a ton of fun playing it. It's different, and there are glaring issues (with gameplay and with such things like party systems/lobbies) but I can't put the beta down.
Also, the easiest way to get around the e-tags is to use a silenced weapon. Sad that 70% of the game's arsenal is out the window if you only use silencers though.

You know, I have heard that the SOCOM community has been getting fucked for like, three games now. I'm not sure if that's accurate. There are still plenty of people, (the majority I'd say), that get hours of entertainment out of each of the SOCOM games that have come out. "Fucked" might be inaccurate. That being said, I agree with a lot of what you say here Black, I'm just not so vehement about it. I think the "dumbing down" of the game has been greatly exaggerated. Fair assessment though man.

I don't blame Zipper for making a shit game. I blame COD! That game was such a huge success that you can't blame Zipper for trying to steal pages from their book. The issue is, they took so many pages from COD that it's not Socom any more. Games do evolve but to evolve so much that it's a different game all together is just sad. People are still going to buy it and make Zipper proud of what they put out. So thanks Zipper for making me have to spend more time with my wife, instead of gaming! :)

Socom seems to be a totally different game now. No more demo, breach, CP, Escort, etc, disappoints me, and the fact that it's newb friendly is a love/hate deal with me. Having said that, I just payed the last of my pre-order today because I am a hardcore SOCOM fan. And even if it's shit like Confrontation, I still play it because everyone you play with that is a Socom fan complains about the same things and I enjoy the Socom community. SOCOM players know what a good game is simple as that

I'm as hardcore as any SOCOM fan, but despite the fact that SOCOM 4 isn't what I hoped it would be, I'm still having a ton of fun playing it. It's different, and there are glaring issues (with gameplay and with such things like party systems/lobbies) but I can't put the beta down.
Also, the easiest way to get around the e-tags is to use a silenced weapon. Sad that 70% of the game's arsenal is out the window if you only use silencers though.

You know, I have heard that the SOCOM community has been getting fucked for like, three games now. I'm not sure if that's accurate. There are still plenty of people, (the majority I'd say), that get hours of entertainment out of each of the SOCOM games that have come out. "Fucked" might be inaccurate. That being said, I agree with a lot of what you say here Black, I'm just not so vehement about it. I think the "dumbing down" of the game has been greatly exaggerated. Fair assessment though man.

Two, I fn love socom...socom 2 was the first time i exp online gamin...I was with my first clan for 2 and a half years and after hurricane katrina i was picked up by a clan and we ran together for 4 years...That is my Socom experience and I don't think any youngster nor, young man will ever experience that bond of players...White, Blk, Asian, Hispanic, males, females etc...

@Eso5o4 socom 2 was AMAZING. I have never felt the same experience from a game since....team work was unparallel it was my first online shooter...when I finally got on CoD 4 that was my second online shooter I played...and holy crap...i was so irate at how simplistic it was and is...absolutely no bondage no teamwork...no actual snipage on maps ... nothing...games now are retarded.

@IHeartFreshKicks Well, I'm not as excited as a lot of other people. The last one was great, but the online functionality was just done poorly. It got boring real quick. 4 person parties? WTF? How are you supposed to invite 8 of your friends into a room and mash it up all night? Gay! The maps are huge as fuck, so how is that supposed to work out? I think they should only allow for 4 people in larger parties to spawn on each other though..Otherwise you'd have 1 guy multiply into 8 just like that.

@IHeartFreshKicks Sure...I think COD would be a top notch game if they put Search and Destroy in the classic mode, took out the aim assist, removed that bullshit radar and killstreaks, put the claymores back in, added infinite run, added back the attatchments and fixed that God Damn broken ass hit detection...Not to mention added some dedicated lobbies like Socom...I'd be playing that shit a lot. But instead they've crippled the minds of the future gamers out there by making it easy to get kills

This applies to most games nowadays. I started online gaming with the PC and the PS2 back in 2005, and I recall just about every FPS and TPS actually taking skill to play back then. Now? Nah, every game just holds your hand and spoon-feeds you. It's fucking stupid. Fuck the casuals. Devs need to stop pandering to the casuals just to rake in extra sales. They don't realize they're merely pissing off their original fans.
