The music industry is so desperate for money and illegal downloading copying etc is killing innovation so why do people like Simon Cowell 'rob' hundreds of millions for their personal pots and not reinvest it in artists. It galls me that if you download Sony BMG artists he gets a slice. What bull. The record producers (talentless marketing managers) should set the example that the music industry is not for pure personal profit and is for humanity and posterity.
Music matters, eh? And thats probably why todays music industry only sells fast food music with no meaning, no depth, music that just doesn't matter. People like Nick would not get a chance today, would be given no time to develop and grow. And then they whine and cry that no one wants to pay money for their shitty music.
Time for music industry is over. I support the musicians I like by buying their books and merchandise, because thats money they get, not some greedy company.
so were supposed to buy nick's music cause his dad died?
music does matter, but when does it matter when its at the hands of company's like emi, tesco, mtv? this is completely contradictory. nick cave's done a lot more for me than two & a half minutes of scribbles will ever do.
thanks for the advertisement.
but the only music i will be buying will be from the record store uptown.
Wot a load of rubbish. When will the industry adapt its business model?? Quit changing lobbing governments, harrasing people with fines and spreading propoganda??... Take a look at the uk's digital economy bill, suing file-sharers, misleading authorities with bogus piracy reports & STATS. RIAA & MPAA are using those same staTs, convincing us 2 transform the Internet into there copyright police state.

one of the problems probably is that people don't look beyond today and what consequences their actions have. Or they don't really care.
Its this "consume now, consume more" thing that kills nature and music too.
Good thing that Nick helps to save some of it. Wouldn't want to miss his/bad seeds albums.
