how do you clean the intake plenum? or when you put it in the vacum hose from the brake booster u are cleaning the intake plenum too?? good video thank you
I would just change the oil 3 times after maybe 500, 1000, then 1500 miles to remove contaminants and revitalize parts. Then run a high quality 10W-30 synthetic and change every 3-4k. All the smoke is just from a flooded engine. Carbon deposits are black, so unless your seeing this coming out of the tailpipe or a black buildup at the edges of your tailpipes, I highly doubt your removing any deposit buildup
i just bought 2 cans for my mitsubishi gto TT. I really need to put some decent oil in too. So shall i do this seafoam application and then change the oil, But when after should i change the oil? Any help would be great. Thanks guys
@jaystallwood You do NOT want to change the oil immediately. It kind of defeats the purpose of putting it in there to clean it. ;) But, I would NOT go any more than 300 miles from the time you put it in there because it does eventually make the oil all nasty and whatnot. lol
Seafoam is a chemical additive that's supposed to help clean out your engine. You can mix with the motor oil shortly before changing it to clean out your crankcase, you can mix it with your gasoline to clean your fuel injectors, or pour it into your air intake to clean out your valves. I've done all that, and personally I don't think it really does anything except produce a lot of smoke.
@cronz305 yes on the twin turbo version of the car but the check valves are meant to keep the boost in, so they are in the wrong direction to stop you from pouring stuff in.
Yea, thanks man, i have a 91 stealth, I heard about the seafoaming, but i thought it was alot more difficult than this!! thanks for showin us 3s noobs a great how too!!
Do Not forget to change your oil 50-100 miles after seafoaming it will thin your oil out

do you really need 2 cans, or would 1/3 all the way around be good with 1 can?

HE FORGOT TO MENTION THAT YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR OIL AFTER YOU DRIVE IT YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE IT FOR MORE THAN 30 MILES WITH THE SEAFOAM IN THE OIL

I just wanna know... did you change the oil after the seafoam treatment? is this necessary?
Darkmetamorphosis1 2 years ago
Yes, quite necessary. Change the oil between 50 and 100 miles after the treatment.

I take it this would work on all cars. I wouldnt mind doing this to my turbo fiero, maybe it will help with fuel economy cause its killing me.
