This game was torture for me since I was raised on Nebraska football and attend Clemson. There are some observations I want to point out. There is no Thunder and Lightning without an offensive line who can occasionally open up a hole for them to run through. Also, Clemson has some of the worst QB play in the country with Cullen Harper. Wouldn't it be scary if we combined teams. With Clemson's defense and skill players, combined with Nebraska's QB and o-line, we would be a national contendor

Let me get this straight, you would rather have the 42nd ranked defense last year instead of a top 20 defense last year that will be even better this year. The only defensive playmaker Neb has is Suh. Clemson has Ricky Sapp, Da'Quan Bowers, Chris Chancellor, Crezdon Butler, and DeAndre McDaniel. The blackshirts should be better this year but they don't have the talent Clemson does on defense.

Yes, I would and I'll give you 3 reasons:

1 - that 42nd ranked defense only allowed 14 Clemson points. Red zone chances: NU 5-5, CU 1-3. Total yards: NU-361 CU- 210

2 - in his 1st year as head coach taking over Callahan's players, the defense reduced their total defense by over 100 yards per game.

3 - the final score of the Gator bowl tells me which team had the better defense.

If you think Suh is the only play maker we're going to have this year, you must only worry about your team.

You are a biased fool. You can't make a comparison based on one game. Clemson had a terrible offensive line and offense last year. They made a lot of defenses look good. And yes Suh is the only playmaker. With Turner coming back and Allen on the other side the D-line should be good. But there is a glaring question mark at linebacker. DB is also a weak spot. Neb hasn't had a good secondary since the Bullocks twins, Washington, and McPherson.

I love the Huskers and Tigers equally but I'll take a 1st round draft pick (Ricky Sapp), the #1 recruit in the nation (Da'Quan Bowers), a freshmen All-American (Brandon Maye), and 2 Thorpe award candidates (Chancellor and Butler) with a new attacking style defense brought in by former Alabama DC Kevin Steele than year 2 of a 3 year project. Clemson has the better defense hands down. Talk to me next year about who's defense is better. Also, record has no bearing on who has a better defense.

Defense can only do so much to win a game. At some point the offense has to score. For example the 12-7 loss to Wake. That was one of the best defensive games I have seen for the Tigers but the offense did absolutely nothing to win the game.

It was a great game, on both sides. The one thing I will comment on, however, was the fact that Nebraska SHUTDOWN the fabled pair of "Thunder & Lighting". The two players that were suppose to beat Nebraska did nothing all game (except for the interception). That part made me feel good because the whole time the commentators were against the Huskers.

It's not entirely accurate to say that Castille did nothing besides two long runs. Yes, to the Tigers' credit, Clemson did a great job on penetration and hit him in the backfield seven times. But he also had seven runs of at least 5 yards. Spiller only had one run longer than 2 yards, Davis only had three runs of at least 5 yards, and the longest run between Spiller and Davis went for all of 12 yards.

Scoring three touchdowns off turnovers (one directly off of one and one that set Clemson up inside the 10) isn't exactly dominating. It was a close game, both defenses were stout, and Nebraska simply made more plays in the end. Eventually the NU running game got going, which was the difference (despite rolling with a third string back), and the Husker DL flat out owned Clemson's OL.

NU gained 150 yards during the third quarter and started scoring in the quarter with 12:24 left and didn't stop scoring in the quarter until 1:45 left in the 3rd. NU also gained 95 yards in 4th quarter, and that includes plays while simply trying to run out the clock. In all, NU gained 245 yards and scored 23 points in the second half - that's pretty far from getting "shut down" or "shut out," with all due respect to a very good Clemson defense.

We gave you 21 points by unforced errors, a bad pitch on an option, a bad pass, a muffed punt catch. The only sustained drive you had ended in Suh blocking the field goal. The key to the game was the "BLACKSHIRTS" shutting your run game down, (4 yards rushing)If you take away the TFL's you had like 50. The Pelini Bros. had those guy's ready.
