I love Karen Armstrong. But, isn't she deluding herself about religions by trying to claim they are all peaceful? I have read some of the books, too, and it is very obvious that fundamentalism is not founded in "fear", but in the books that are at the heart of the religions. I have a lot of trouble with accepting that anyone's faith beyond Ms. Armstrong's leads to the should-ing all over them that she does here, sadly.
@mud411 Yeah this is crazy to see bible prophecy being fulfilled. This is the beginning of the end for false religion. The wild beast UN is positioning themselves to remove the worlds false religions. It is so clear to see.
It seems this woman (Jezebel, the nun) has not read the quram or the talmud of babylon
Her knowledge of religions is very superficial and behind the sweet words is a monstruous agenda _ to change all civilizations in order to fit globalization
and the change will be by brutal force if needed, like it is happening in Iraq
Allience of civilization really means Violence against civilization, this is what globalization is about, to morph civilizations to fit its requirements
The means: Media and bombs
In the case of Iraq bombs, in most countries media
Dangerous lies. For example, the claim that "most...muslims want nothing to do with extremists" has been plainly refuted by PEW poll data on three different occasions (see Bin Laden confidence factor).
Armstrongs brand of well-intentioned lying is just the type of thing that substantially improves the odds of success with respect to "Jihad" (genocide of non-muslims).
She is Not that well learned. I challenge anyone to show me a true Christian group that practices extremeism and imposes on the basic rights of others! I would say they are not true Christians because this is exactly contrary to Jesus message. I am not talking about the past, in the dark ages when all nations were caohtic and barbaric I am saying in recent times. The same cannot be said for Islam, they cannot deny their texts teach and instruct this sorta behavior!
The key word here is "true Christian", that is true for all religions. Islam and Quran do not teach hatred and I believe you have not read Quran. I encourage you to read it after you clear your thought what other people say about Islam. Islam ruled the World for almost 1300 years with no problem. Jews fled Europe to Muslim world where they were protected. I can give you so many examples of recent times (Irish Red Army), Japanese cult Aum Shinrikyo suspected in nerve-gas attack on Tokyo)
You are right I have not read it! And that is my point, the very essence of Islam is oppression and UNequality! Even if I were to read Quran, it would only be an English translation of Quran and therefore considered infereior. What about text where rocks scream out "muslim over here a jew or christian is hiding behind me kill him!? Mens rights over women? nonmuslim converts must be oppressed and pay a tax until they submit & convert? obviously incurrages myrtardom suicide killers are motivated
but the bigest reason why I cannot trust Islam is because of its position & stand about Jesus! Its strange to me that Islams teaching & understanding & belief about Jesus is EXACTLY what Jesus teaches and warns me to watch out for
This short segment is an excellent representation of Karen Armstrong and is succinct in its valueable message about living together on our planet. Having read many of her books I can only hope those who watch this video will be motivated to pursue more of her. I believe she is one of the most important women of our time and her thoughts, when digested, will convict and inspire one to live with more compassion, tolerance, and respect for others.
I totally agree. She is, by far, one of the greatest religious thinkers of our time. I loved her saying at the beginning about refusing to inflict pain upon another. She summed up the meaning of religion so well.
