Hey, just wanted to say thanks you for taking the time to share all your videos... I was looking for a lesson on Funk#49 and came across your version... stunning and from there on I was hooked, great presentation, amazing sound both in quality and tone and stunning playing...
Many thanks again... and a stunning guitar if i may say also... ;0
what gear do u use? actually what pedal would you suggest to achieve the funk 49 sound? coz i really want a nice classic rock sound that isn't to ballsy as marshall sound?...tnx in advance!
Sounds, awsome!!! Could you slow down and show in detail the intro lick as well as the middle one right after the drum break away. This is the best version of the guitar I've heard yet. Please share!!!!! Thanks!!!
If you don't believe he's actually playing it, listen to the actual track from james gang and listen to Walsh's lick right before he goes into one of the greatest riffs ever. it sounds different. You people must have horrible hearing or something
On the slow released bend in the intro I think I hear a ghost note (a tuck chuck muted 7th fret B string) as he releases the bend. Windows Media Player has a snap slider speed setting that is great for slowing a song way down while keeping pitch.
Negative comments on these lessons really blow me away. You cant find better production values, camera angles, lighting, not to mention technique or accuracy, anywhere! This stuff is GOLD! Oh,,,,and free!
thank you.your videos are one of the finest learning tool iv seen.myself i would be proud to call myself a student of yours.please disreguard (i know ,spelled wrong)all kids and assholes out there.thanks again. M.K..
this video is awsome !! I'm having so much trouble with Kenny Chesney"s living in fast forward would you do a video on it would be greatly appreciated , thanks so much..
Between my computers at my office I see the sync issue, but it's all contingent on which computer I'm using. My old computer is not worth watching these videos with. Any newer computers here show that Mr. Twangy knows what he's doing. as usual.
I use his videos frequently to check the correct neck position when I'm working out a tune he's also covered.
Check your own equipment out, then make a more educated comment!
Thanks again for more great off center hits. I loved the James Gang when I was much younger. This will now be in our Sets thanks to you. I don't really do Tabs, I need to see the patterns in my head not just where some guy writes them,or just grind them out by ear. Your tecnique is flawless and tone as awlays is spot on.
I had this on my mind the other day when, as I was going through a chicken pickin' exercise, it reminded me of it. Low and behold, at the grocery store the next day I saw the latest Guitar World with this song tabbed. I managed to work out the whole song, minus the solo bit. That's where you came in!
Oh, I also play Tele's too and only have 5 now. Gave one to my niece.
@b06tmm - Yeah, this sure doesn't lie. i had a guy below tell me he could only hear the original track. He was surprised when I told him it was the track without Joe's guitar. I just gave my son one of my Strats - I sure don't use it!
Great job, Sam. I saw those guys in about '72 It was my first ever concert. Jackson Browne opened up for them and ... well, it wasn't a good day for Mr. Browne. You've gotten me more interested than ever to learn new songs. Ah, so many songs, so little time. Keep on posting, I'm very impressed with your playing and enjoying all the songs a ton. Oh, this James Gang tune reminded me of another old one that not many people know. Run, Run, Run by JoJo Gunne. I'd like to hear you do that one.
@werogers75 - The earliest I go back is Joe Walsh and Barnstorm at Winterland in S.F. Man, 16 years old and I probably stood there with my jaw dropped to whole time. Those were the days, man...
I got that new baja today and am getting this song down pretty good thanks to you! My question------I saw on one of your videos where you gave a site that could be googled to get backing tracks minus guitar. I am intersted in that-----can't remember which of your videos comments/replies dealt with the topic---I watched and read the comments to so many. I am 48, been playing acoustic for 3 years. I appreciate you teaching this old dog new tricks!!! THANKS
That's quite a compliment. The original guitar is not present. Do a search for this song (the original track) on YouTube. The guitar is mixed hard right. The backing tracking that I am using is the left channel only which does not include the original guitar at all. The only guitar you hear is mine. It's certainly not perfect and not so close that you can't tell that it is my guitar and not Joe's that you are hearing.
Thanks, it's as close as I could get. I'm doing the same thing with The Beatles "Revolution" because the guitars are mixed the same way. It's giving me a lot of grief. There' s no way to duplicate that straight into the board distortion they're getting. I'm going to post it in a couple of days but I'm not 100% satisfied. I've worked so hard on it I don't want to shit can it. Anyway, thanks.
@sm1tty031 - Thanks, I really try. There are some good things that come out of being a very stubborn man - I REFUSE to quit or settle for close enough.
Awesome ! brings back memories of cruisin' downtown Detroit ...Livernois Ave... in "71-72" with this blastin' full bore out the windows of my "68" Tempest. Youre right about Joe.... saw him as a solo warm-up act one night when Leslie West and Jack Bruce were playing together. They were good but he blew 'em off the stage!!! The gang was one of my early fav's.
String through. If you think it sounds good through a Line 6 computer interface and your computer speakers, you should hear this thing in person through an amp - it would blow your mind!
hahaha yeah man i know how it is. My old 85 Fender Japanese '52 tele is the only one i ever play. Nothing sounds like it. Leo got it right the first time!
Hey-did you disable comments a little while back? I have been having trouble with logging into YT, and channels not looking right. Thought I had a virus or something!
