  • @dcharles09 Who care's?

  • @dcharles09 also there is a guy who is gone to put the chocks at the back wheels of the aircraft while the beacon light is still switched on that also is a no no !!!!

  • I like to make this job at night :)!

  • Very good and distinct wand movements. As a pilot I can appreciate that... Very easy to distinguish... It's a thankless job, you appear to take pride however... Well done.

  • @Learjetjock i work for air wisconsin at IAD with regional express aircraft, and it's always nice when the crew compliments us on bringing in a plane. you're right; it is a thankless job but we do take pride when we do a good job (and even more pride when we're recognized for it). thanks

  • what would that job name be ,like rampers or something else?

  • Why is the cockpit so dark?no light?

  • @dcharles09 as long as it is withing the safety zone you can move the bridge while the marshaller is parking the aircraft. But if it goes beyond the safety zone before thumbs up from marshal then its a violation

  • wonder if they go to raves after?

  • @yiquin2009 yeah we do!!!

  • nice video!

  • dont u get scared, seeing planes coming towards you?

  • Good Job marshalling..but the jet bridge is supposed to move until the aircraft is stopped right.

  • what is the name the two orange stick ?

  • Does FL have 2 717s RON at STL? Any 73Gs?

  • Absolutely violation. The bridge can not approach untill the aircraft has stopped and it is with the cholks in place.

  • thats right the jetbrudge is not supposed to move until the aircraft is at a complete stop it is most definately a safety violation

  • yes but its a matter of seconds....

  • Nice Job, Good Marshaling.

  • where is this? it looks like MSP

  • STL

  • Nice, clean marshalling!

  • Good thing we don't get these babies at KSAN!

  • How come the arrival agents start moving the Jet Bridge the millisecond the plane stops, that's extremely dangerous. You are suppose to wait for an OK signal.

  • Not True - AirTran policy is that as soon as the marshaller gives the X, the jetway goes to the aircraft.

  • Interesting, good to know. I never knew of anyone that did it that way.

  • I know what your saying, were not even supposed to approach the Aircraft until the Beacons off and the Engines are Spooling down, and with Prop Aircraft, until they have stopped Turning. However.

  • nice job

  • nice! how get this job and what do you need

  • Which airport is that? KBWI?

  • STL

  • Wow that's pretty awesome! I may be getting hired for Southwest soon...I know this job won't be easy but could someone tell me exactly how hard it will be? Comparing it to something?? Please!!

  • It's a pretty good job. You're lucky you're getting in at Southwest though because it's not nearly as good at any other airline. The money is better and the environment you work in is much better.

At first you're going to be doing everything from loading and unloading bags from planes to draining lavatories to running bags with a tug. After a while you figure out how lines work and you determine what you like doing the most, and you typically primarily do one thing.

  • Sounds great!! I got the job by the way. Thanks ryangassxx!

  • congrats,.. what station will you be at?

  • I have no idea at all where I will be. No clue whatsoever!!

  • station means airport,.. what city are you in?

  • Oh!!! my bad!! As you can tell I literally don't know anything about my new job. I will be in Denver,CO.

  • dang the gate was already moving before the airplane stopped LOL

  • that would be kinda scary I'd think... I mean thats a HUGE airplane that ur standing in front of...but that's just me

  • I'd love to know what those signals mean.

  • 1) identify gate

2)turn left (from the pilot point of view)

    3) taxi straight ahead

    4) normal stop

  • ur job is soo fun

  • @billythomas18 If you enjoy being poor. The airlines wages are laughable. They can afford to pay us all more, thye just choose not. Douchebag CEOs

  • @billythomas18 That being said I really enjoy the job, it is a lot of fun when you have a good group to work with!

  • that was fast.

  • you should use real ICAO hand signals, or make them more narrowly

  • Many airlines teach it the way in the video, at our airline we actually go a lot wider.

  • hmm AIR TRAN not bad

  • good job

  • did u open the stl station? our lead cliff went to open the station here in tpa.

  • Yes we opened the station, was rough but we got through it.

  • what airport is this?

  • Lambert St. Louis International

  • What sort of training do you have to go through to do this job? It seemed you were really precise - is that from tons of training or from experience?

  • This was the second airline I had worked for. The previous job I had was the same type of work and I was also a Lead in charge of 2 gates. This type of training varies with the airlines but for this specific one it was 2 and a half weeks in class then another 2 weeks on the job with 2 instructors there...but of course, over that time we went over alot of other stuff other than just the ramp work as well.

  • i would complain about the jetbridge operator, big no no. Atleast one of the gears should have been chocked before bridging the aircraft

  • No - AirTran policy is that once the marshaler gives the X the jetbridge can then proceed.

  • pilotsr; your comment is quite right, however, as a ramp worker at Heathrow I see this happening everyday! Especially on the aircraft where two jetways are required, the first-class one will always be moved forward to within a few inches of the fuselage so that the second the engines shut down it can be docked and the critical '2 minute' limit for the door to be opened can be met! Unless the airside safety officer is around!

  • Thanks...this was my final night at work here. Went to school and got educated...pilot now.

  • The marshalling was fine, however I spotted a big no-no on the jetway operators part. They started to move the bridge before the aircraft came to a complete stop, and wheels were chocked...
