I have vitiligo too, and what I do is I either use foundation and other makeup to cover it up or I use this sunless tanning stuff called salon bronze. I use this brand because some brands just pull pigment out of your skin (kinda) and when u have vitiligo u have no pigment so this one is the one that I've found works. It does however hurt my skin a little when I go to the ocean, but it's not too bad. Hope this helps!
and what your talking about is UV RAY lighting and it DOESN'T WORK! I went through that with when I as 9! the ointment doesn't work either, it is something we either live with or bleach our skin.

my 12 year old little sister has vitiligo. she has had it since she was born and now its on her legs, feet, waist, arms, hands and more. she dosn't care what other people think, because she accepts it. she has lots of friends and shes very pretty. btw,you don't get vitiligo from being in the sun without protecting your skin.
Hi Everyone! Dnt kno if this helps but there is lots of people taking a medicine. It has several different names (ie) Melanotan, scenesse, melanotan 2. Apparently alot of people with vitiligo have reported great things, pretty much their vitiligo dissapears. You can find out more by typing it in to google etc or going to the melanotan forum and vitiligo forum! I know this is all easy to say coming from a person who doesn't have vitiligo, but I've dealt with aggressive acne problems and had to take pills for it (twice), have been mocked about my face and although now the acne is gone, I still have scars... Beauty really lies in the eye of the beholder and the people who are blind have more to worry about than those of us who can see. :)
im in 7th grade. my vitiligo started when i was born so it's progressed a lot. mine was genetic( my dad has it). btw, you CAN'T get skin cancer in the non-pigmented areas.

I know this sounds harsh, but I think you are wallowing. Big flipping deal, you can't tan anymore. Also, you're pronouncing "vitiligo" wrong, and it doesn't come from tanning. You are also white, so it hardly shows up.
We all have vain insecurities--I'm certainly very concerned about my appearance-- but realize that that's what this is. It puts you at a SLIGHTLY higher risk for skin cancer, but seriously, of all diseases to make a personal and sad video about, vitiligo is a pretty lame one.
Hi! I'm 23 years old, and I think I have vitiligo. It appeared on my lower lip area about 4 months ago. I haven't been to doctor yet, but after doing some research, I am pretty sure that this is vitiligo. First I thought It was just a temporary spot, my friend noticed it and suggested me to go see a doctor. I am just afraid that will it increase or will stop developing more. The only part of me that is still patchy is my hands and feet.( and even they are slowly coming back ) , i used to have it on my face , top of my head , all of my forearms , my groin , calves and the backs of my knees. I,m not saying that this is a definate cure ..but it is working on me .....try and get narrowband U V B treatement at your hospital , you will need to go through your dermatoligist to get it ....also take phenylalanine , gingo biloba, piperine , celery and black peper on meals.

I'm 20 years old and i got vitiligo about a half a year ago. And i actually got it on my penis, yeah i know, it sounds funny but sometimes it can really make me sad and frustrated. But at the end of the day, i know that there isn't so much you can do about then just live with it
it is certainly better than vitiligo patches. The worst thing that everyone is doing is listening to what the doctors and the internet says u are hurting yourselves and probably living with something u dnt have to live with for so long because the truth is that doctors dnt even know what it is. let me tell u a story. My mom had vitiligo 4- 20 yrs. When i was 13 she went to a dr in her country and he depigmented her skin completely and naturally in 1 year and she had 50% of her skin covered. This was 8 yrs ago and my mom now lives a normal life and most ppl dnt even know she ever had vitiligo it has never came back. She looks great pale skinned the only problem she has is the sun but thats why thers sun block and stuff. Depigmentation might not look good on everyone but

be gratefull of your self and ask your doctor for cream to put on your vitiligo but it cost about $200 per bottle and it take months to slowly give the pigment back on your skin. I know how you feel
I have had vitiligo since i was 5. My first spot was on my chest, and now at 21, i have it on my face, my scalp, both my hands, feet, legs, privates, and my elbows. Summer time is the worst part of the year because as i tan, the spots stay white, and people stare. I used to never wear shorts in the summer because i would watch people's eyes go from my face down to my legs. It hurt, and i would see people point and stare. It helps when i have my friends support me, and you can inspire others!!

I have suffered from vitiligo since I was a kid. I think I remember noticing spots on my wrists in the summer when I was about 8. I have always tanned very well so it is very noticible in the summer months. It has spread to be on most of my body now. The hard part about it is that I live in one of the most tropical places in Australia. Doctors won't study a cure for it because it isn't life threatening to our health. What they don't know is that it causes hundreds of people to commit suicide because of theirs insecurities. P.s. it isn't caused from tanning, it's when your autoimmune system attacks your skin pigment.
i have this on my leg in just two blotches. its really really frustrating when i want to wear shorts but i never can because im embarassed of it. no one knows, and when they ask why i never wear shorts, i make up excuses that i dont like them. its really really embarassing i wish i can just have perfect skin. so my legs are super pale since i dont put them in the sun
@back2therealme at least yours is only on your feet and you can easily hide it. im a guy, and since birth have had a nice vitiligo spot right beside my mouth...kinda like a permanent cumshot you could say. cant hide it. but i cant complain, because im white and it could be worse. i almost wish i was black so there would be no way to hide it, and there fore would have to accept it instead of denying it. were all in this together. and there is no shame. your feet are beautiful.

Hi, 13 and I've had vitiligo since I was 11 and I know it's not a long time but it has really changed since I was 11, we first went to the doc's when there were a few patches on my arms and left foot, since then my god has it changed it's all over me, people think it's because I'm crap at putting fake tan on :L I hate people that stare.
I have it too. I found out yesterday. :( But you know it's NOT caused by tanning. It's either genetics, autoimmune, or ... stuff. Try taking B-12 vitamins. I heard it helps. I have a hard time believing it.
Im 23 and have had vitiligo since i was 4 or five, so have dealt with it my entire life. Its been very hard, not gonna lie, Im the only one out of the group of my friends that have never had a girlfriend, ive just never been comfortable enough to get close with anyone, mostly fear based I guess. I've had vitiligo since i was bout 2 or 3, im black and since then it's just about completely gone away, it used to be all over my face, hands, knees, and now it's only on my lips and feet, im now 17 and going into my senior year of highschool, after all the staring and name calling, idc what people think, i love my vitiligo it definitely makes me more unique and my friends love it too, i hope it stays :) (as long as it doesnt spread lol or give me any more diseases like psoriasis lol :P )

i am 12,i have a small patch near my head that i had since i was 7 or 8. im not sure if its vitiligo,i hope its not :'/ my mom has it all over her..like ALL OVER and if you didnt know her you probably would just think shes naturally pale :P.
@AlexisRamosx Yeah, usually when someone in your family has it, the chances of you getting it increases. My mom's cousin has it, so now i have it. But I only have a little bit on my chin. And my doctor says it will start to spread. But it's not so bad. It's not like someone is gonna point at you and start laughing. I have been a cheerleader and highly active in the local theater productions, so as a performer it becomes quite a question when people see me in a bikini or if I don't have on make up. Most people think it's cool or whatever and they have lots off questions so I'm totally used to it by now. Honestly, it's all about accepting yourself and embracing your differences(:

I have vitiligo and I've had it since I was 11, I am now 36. I found it particularly hard while growing up to have this skin condition as I was and still am a shy person. But honestly guys there are days you forget you have it and the only reminder maybe someone staring at you unnormally long.
Also where I have it is on my face near my eyebrow, so half my eyebrow is white and because I am (polynesian) the vitiligo is even more noticeable. It gets a bit easier to deal with as time goes by.

You do know that there is a 'cure' for that right ? I mean, come on, its not a skin cancer, lol. Go to the dermatologist, he will ask u if u want to completely depigment or try repigmentation. The medicines and therapy used is safe and it helped to alot of ppl. If i were ur dermatologist id prescribed u monobenzone. Ud completely depigment , its much faster than repigmentation.
i have white spots on my face that u can see when i go out into the sun nd get darker. nd certain spots on my face doesnt get dark. its not vitiligo but i still kinda have it. doctors say that it wont get worse or spread nd it wont get better its juss there. but u cant really notice it unless u really look. but no matter what anyone says u all are still beautifull with or without vitiligo. so keep ur heads up. look at micheal jackson he came out to be very succesfull nd he has the disease.

It happened twice when I was 12 and 13. Now I have on my face, around my eyes and beside my nose. I just use a concealer to hide it..

I'm a 24 year old woman who has vitiligo and I think it's really brave of you to make this video. I just can't understand all these people who make such insensitive comments about such a touchy subject. You won't know what it's like until you have it. I am Indian so it shows up on my skin much more, but you you can try using Protopic - it's an ointment that made the patches on my face go away. I wish there were a way to get rid of this, I'd be so much happier! You are beautiful btw :)

I have Vitiligo too and I read on an app that I have and it said that vitiligo can make you have arthritis and autoimmune dieases and I am scared for the future. Vitiligo is also really hard to treat. Ugh.
I have no pigmentation in my skin at all. I'm not suffering from vitiligo and I'm not an albino though. I can't subath, I don't even know the feeling of getting tanned. Summer means always a horror for me, cause even closest friends after all these years cannot get used to my look. So I usually wear long-sleeved shirts and long-legged trousers during summer, which also seems weird to many people but maybe a little less weird than my paper-white skin.
hey there. im 28 and i started to get vitiligo around 17. it sux for me because i have it on my private area which makes it very hard for me to gain confidence to try to get a partner. it looks like military camo. i dont think you actually get vitiligo from tanning beds.
@earthlyme. Not being rude, just honest. I've lived with vitiligo for 18 yrs and done exactly that. The condition is quite severe on me but it only affects me in strong sun as everyone who has it. I don't let it bother me and people know it doesn't bother me, obviously, so it's never a problem!

hi....just looking at your video....i to have this skin disorder and i tell you it sucks..i think it is one of the worst things to have and people are cruel.I was told to be one of the youngest case they seen i was about 9 or 10 for years the white spots became bigger and then i had it so much that it looked like i had brown spots..going though high school was hard but i got threw it i wore long sleaves and turtle necks even in the summer...
there will b something that helps. I have seen this 1st hand in my family there has been ppl with this thing who have gotten rid of it by treating whats causing it. I have told ppl this b4 but i realize that so many ppl just cnt think outside of the box. The ppl ive told would rather get their hopes up for sum laser that doesnt do anything except tan the spots. That isnt gonna do anything its still gonna be there. So plz ppl find sumthing else that truly works 4, u the sooner the better

I have vitiligo, and also I have a normal social life, a wonderful boyfriend who accepts to me as I am, and lot of things that make me feel grateful, so please...I know it, its difficult and a little shameful but don´t let vitiligo change your life, just change the attitude, life its wonderful...

The same thing happens to me I catch people staring at my skin and people say im bleach and ask me all the time if i've been burnt . Its covered almost more than 50% of my body . I was thinking about getting my skin bleached but i think i'll just let it take over since theres nothing else i can do. @Samantha9501 theres this phototherapy lazer light treatment that i get three times a week that has been helping a lot and ive only gone three times. you should really try it.
I have vitiligo too, and what I do is I either use foundation and other makeup to cover it up or I use this sunless tanning stuff called salon bronze. I use this brand because some brands just pull pigment out of your skin (kinda) and when u have vitiligo u have no pigment so this one is the one that I've found works. It does however hurt my skin a little when I go to the ocean, but it's not too bad. Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone! Dnt kno if this helps but there is lots of people taking a medicine. It has several different names (ie) Melanotan, scenesse, melanotan 2. Apparently alot of people with vitiligo have reported great things, pretty much their vitiligo dissapears. I’m a 17 year old female and let me say, people who judge on appearance are perfect representatives of Ignorance. I know this is all easy to say coming from a person who doesn't have vitiligo, but I've dealt with aggressive acne problems and had to take pills for it (twice), have been mocked about my face and although now the acne is gone, I still have scars... I know this sounds harsh, but I think you are wallowing. Big flipping deal, you can't tan anymore. Also, you're pronouncing "vitiligo" wrong, and it doesn't come from tanning. You are also white, so it hardly shows up.
We all have vain insecurities--I'm certainly very concerned about my appearance-- but realize that that's what this is. It puts you at a SLIGHTLY higher risk for skin cancer, but seriously, of all diseases to make a personal and sad video about, vitiligo is a pretty lame one.

I haven't been to doctor yet, but after doing some research, I am pretty sure that this is vitiligo. First I thought It was just a temporary spot, my friend noticed it and suggested me to go see a doctor. I am just afraid that will it increase or will stop developing more. The only part of me that is still patchy is my hands and feet.( and even they are slowly coming back ) , i used to have it on my face , top of my head , all of my forearms , my groin , calves and the backs of my knees. I,m not saying that this is a definate cure ..but it is working on me .....try and get narrowband U V B treatement at your hospital , you will need to go through your dermatoligist to get it ....also take phenylalanine , gingo biloba, piperine , celery and black peper on meals.

let me tell u a story. My mom had vitiligo 4- 20 yrs. When i was 13 she went to a dr in her country and he depigmented her skin completely and naturally in 1 year and she had 50% of her skin covered. This was 8 yrs ago and my mom now lives a normal life and most ppl dnt even know she ever had vitiligo it has never came back. She looks great pale skinned the only problem she has is the sun but thats why thers sun block and stuff. Depigmentation might not look good on everyone but

I have had vitiligo since i was 5. My first spot was on my chest, and now at 21, i have it on my face, my scalp, both my hands, feet, legs, privates, and my elbows. Summer time is the worst part of the year because as i tan, the spots stay white, and people stare. I used to never wear shorts in the summer because i would watch people's eyes go from my face down to my legs. It hurt, and i would see people point and stare. It helps when i have my friends support me, and you can inspire others!!

I have suffered from vitiligo since I was a kid. I think I remember noticing spots on my wrists in the summer when I was about 8. I have always tanned very well so it is very noticible in the summer months. It has spread to be on most of my body now. I pretty much keep everything else covered so the only thing people see are my hands/arms but it is starting to show on my face now :( just 1 of many physical things wrong with me :(

I've had vitiligo since I was 7. It's covering my ankles, a majority of my feet, my knees, wrists, fingertips & my left eyelid
The hard part about it is that I live in one of the most tropical places in Australia. Doctors won't study a cure for it because it isn't life threatening to our health. What they don't know is that it causes hundreds of people to commit suicide because of theirs insecurities. P.s. it isn't caused from tanning, it's when your autoimmune system attacks your skin pigment.

i have this on my leg in just two blotches. its really really frustrating when i want to wear shorts but i never can because im embarassed of it. no one knows, and when they ask why i never wear shorts, i make up excuses that i dont like them. its really really embarassing i wish i can just have perfect skin. so my legs are super pale since i dont put them in the sun

Im 23 and have had vitiligo since i was 4 or five, so have dealt with it my entire life. Its been very hard, not gonna lie, Im the only one out of the group of my friends that have never had a girlfriend, ive just never been comfortable enough to get close with anyone, mostly fear based I guess. I have suffered from anxiety and depression since i was 16 and vitiligo is a big reason for this. I consider my self lucky however, I have a great life, its just i feel like im being held back

I've had vitiligo since i was bout 2 or 3, im black and since then it's just about completely gone away, it used to be all over my face, hands, knees, and now it's only on my lips and feet, im now 17 and going into my senior year of highschool, after all the staring and name calling, idc what people think, i love my vitiligo it definitely makes me more unique and my friends love it too, i hope it stays :) (as long as it doesnt spread lol or give me any more diseases like psoriasis lol :P )

I have vitiligo and I've had it since I was 11, I am now 36. I found it particularly hard while growing up to have this skin condition as I was and still am a shy person. But honestly guys there are days you forget you have it and the only reminder maybe someone staring at you unnormally long.
Also where I have it is on my face near my eyebrow, so half my eyebrow is white and because I am (polynesian) the vitiligo is even more noticeable. It gets a bit easier to deal with as time goes by.

You do know that there is a 'cure' for that right ? I mean, come on, its not a skin cancer, lol. Go to the dermatologist, he will ask u if u want to completely depigment or try repigmentation. The medicines and therapy used is safe and it helped to alot of ppl. If i were ur dermatologist id prescribed u monobenzone. Ud completely depigment , its much faster than repigmentation.

My skin appears lighter in blotches and my finger nails are going abit darker(purply)

i have white spots on my face that u can see when i go out into the sun nd get darker. nd certain spots on my face doesnt get dark. its not vitiligo but i still kinda have it. doctors say that it wont get worse or spread nd it wont get better its juss there. but u cant really notice it unless u really look. but no matter what anyone says u all are still beautifull with or without vitiligo. so keep ur heads up. look at micheal jackson he came out to be very succesfull nd he has the disease.

oh, BULL. I have had Vitiligo for over 10 years. If you're INSECURE about it people are gonna pick up on it and treat you accordingly. At least it's not on your face like me. It didn't happen because of indoor tanning. It "catched" up on you? I doubt that, it "caught" up on you...and no. Indoor tanning DOESNT cause Vitiligo. It's pronounced vit-ill-EYE-go. It's an autoimmune disorder, related to psoriasis. Okay, Chalooba?

hello, i have vitiligo too, it sucks. im 15 so im still on school and people are looking at me. i guess girls don't like me because of the white spots. i think they think it's dirty or something. according to you confidence is the key, that could be true, but i don't have any so that sucks even worse. i think ill be okay with it if i would be all white, than its just one colour and not 2...

I had this when I was 9... same, I thought it was an ordinary skin disease... it started on my foot, then I went to a derma after it was treated, it had a lot of blisters, I had a 2nd degree burn because of the medicine, then I had to go under surgery to remove the blisters. It happened twice when I was 12 and 13. Now I have on my face, around my eyes and beside my nose. I just use a concealer to hide it..

I'm a 24 year old woman who has vitiligo and I think it's really brave of you to make this video. I just can't understand all these people who make such insensitive comments about such a touchy subject. You won't know what it's like until you have it. I am Indian so it shows up on my skin much more, but you you can try using Protopic - it's an ointment that made the patches on my face go away. I wish there were a way to get rid of this, I'd be so much happier! You are beautiful btw :)

I have Vitiligo too and I read on an app that I have and it said that vitiligo can make you have arthritis and autoimmune dieases and I am scared for the future. Vitiligo is also really hard to treat. Ugh.

I have no pigmentation in my skin at all. I'm not suffering from vitiligo and I'm not an albino though. I can't subath, I don't even know the feeling of getting tanned. Summer means always a horror for me, cause even closest friends after all these years cannot get used to my look. So I usually wear long-sleeved shirts and long-legged trousers during summer, which also seems weird to many people but maybe a little less weird than my paper-white skin.

hey there. im 28 and i started to get vitiligo around 17. it sux for me because i have it on my private area which makes it very hard for me to gain confidence to try to get a partner. it looks like military camo. i dont think you actually get vitiligo from tanning beds.

@earthlyme. Not being rude, just honest. I've lived with vitiligo for 18 yrs and done exactly that. The condition is quite severe on me but it only affects me in strong sun as everyone who has it. I don't let it bother me and people know it doesn't bother me, obviously, so it's never a problem!

I understand how u feel. My uncle has it to. Michael Jackson had it and I cant even imagine how he felt being black and then his skin turning white cuz of Vitiligo. It's a very bad case and I pray for anyone who has it! God bless you!

anyways just wanted to say that i am now 35 and i have no spots left i am complety white have been now for a few years..so yes it does go away but my skin burns so fast in the sun...take care

hi....just looking at your video....i to have this skin disorder and i tell you it sucks..i think it is one of the worst things to have and people are cruel.I was told to be one of the youngest case they seen i was about 9 or 10 for years the white spots became bigger and then i had it so much that it looked like i had brown spots..going though high school was hard but i got threw it i wore long sleaves and turtle necks even in the summer...

there will b something that helps. I have seen this 1st hand in my family there has been ppl with this thing who have gotten rid of it by treating whats causing it. I have told ppl this b4 but i realize that so many ppl just cnt think outside of the box. The ppl ive told would rather get their hopes up for sum laser that doesnt do anything except tan the spots. That isnt gonna do anything its still gonna be there. So plz ppl find sumthing else that truly works 4, u the sooner the better

Its sad when i see ppl being sad about vitiligo, if ppl continue this vicious cycle of going to the dr or derm 4 help when ints very obvious they arent gonna do crap about it than they arent gonna achieve anything and will continue 2 live with this 4ever until they "find a cure". The same thing happens to me I catch people staring at my skin and people say im bleach and ask me all the time if i've been burnt . Its covered almost more than 50% of my body . I was thinking about getting my skin bleached but i think i'll just let it take over since theres nothing else i can do.
