The shows and the animals in them ARE used to bring in money. But think...without the money, they would not be able to pay for food, medicine, vet checkups, toys and targets, or even their filtration and maintenence!
Well, shows are an important part of the business in order to keep the animals stimulated, let alone alive. I'm not defending SW or tearing it down. That is just the truth.
Lots of people say this is cruel to have this animals in captivity, but I don't think so, many of them were born there, besides they are very well taken care of, in fact I wish I could live like them, they don't have to work and yet they get everything they need, what a life, I feel jealous.
Even if they don't capture orcas anymore, doesn't make what they're doing right. When you pay to see these animals in captivity, you are supporting what they did.
How many marine biologists, conservationists and animal lovers have SeaWorld to thank for their love of marine life? I certainly do. I learned as a child that these were beautiful, intelligent beings, worthy of the greatest respect. And I learned it at SeaWorld. Thank you, SeaWorld.
fuckin peta physcos. how often do you hear about seaworld killing orcas. think peta has more important shit to worry about like keeping me from eating meat....but it wont happen cause baby cows taste soooo good.
SeaWorld has nothing to be ashamed about. They don't do everything right but they aren't capturing orcas anymore so what difference does it matter? All of there orcas are just about captive born, and what happens when all wild captive orcas die, are you still going to say they are taking their "freedom" away? lol The freedom they never had.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Sea World has everything to be ashamed about. So what, you're saying that because they don't capture anymore, that it's still ok? What about a rapist? If they don't rape anymore, they have nothing to be ashamed about? Someone who murders another? The argument you make is pathetic.
Just because Sea World no longer captures wild orcas doesn't mean we should forget about it. By giving money to these places, you support what they DID, and what they DO NOW - exploiting animals for money.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Of course, keeping captive born orcas captive is holding them from their freedom. If you were born in a prison, wouldn't you want to experience the outside world? These orcas may not have any notion of what life is like outside their barren tanks, however it is not their natural home, and they have biologically evolved to LIVE in the ocean - not a concrete tank!
You have no idea what you are talking about. So your saying rapists who don't rape anymore should never be forgiven? Isen't it God himself who said we should forgive people if they are sorry? SW doesn't capture orcas any, and NO going there isen't supporting what they use to do because they don't do it anymore! Your vegan right? I bet you shop at a supermarket? OMFG! They sell animals products! Don't buy from supermarkets because they still support cruelty! And people born in jails? 100% wrong
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What about murderers? Isn't that what Sea World is? Murderers for killing countless orcas and dolphins for the sole purpose of displaying them to an ignorant paying public?
By giving money to Sea World, you are saying that its ok that they captured whales before, and that its ok for them to keep them in captivity. Otherwise you would do what the countless marine activists would do - BOYCOTT.
SeaWorld did not kill any animals. SeaWorld is jusr a name of a park, do you mean the owners? The owners have nothing to do with how the animals live there life at SW, the trainers do. Are you saying the SW trainers killed the orcas? Which is not true at all. And what would boycotting SW do? Make them loose money overtime so they can no longer pay for the animals to live? SW animals live amazing lives, most of there animals were born to artificial environments which makes it OK.
And jails/prisons are nothing like marine parks. Orcas were captured from the wild, for many good reasons, but for the owners in particular, it was for money. And no, I do not thrive at SW, whatever your saying, these animals are taken care of very well and live fine lives, and there is nothing wrong with having captive born animals in marine parks.

CONT'D...
But no, you can't see past your own selfishness. You don't want the orcas to be free because that means you won't be able to see them in your favourite little marine amusement park. YES, that's what Sea World is, an AMSUEMENT PARK, not an "education centre". They THRIVE on people paying to be amused, not "educated", and that's EXACTLY what goes on in these ridiculous, "glamorous" circuses.
Parading animals around is NOT science, it is a money-making scheme that you are buying into.
And yes, marine parks are educational, there are always people walking around to answer any questions you may have, some of the shows are also educational and fun in a way to entertain the guests, and there are signs all over the place with info on the animals. I always learn when I go to a marine park, maybe not you because you already know everything. o_O

Captivity severely compromises their quality of life to
an unacceptable degree, through confinement in minuscule tanks. Such confinement is
often characterised by forced associations, sensory deprivation and adverse intrusion by
visitors. Marine parks can no longer justify their captivity under the false premise of
education, conservation and research. Today's society is sophisticated enough to
recognise these facilities as aquatic circuses. Jerye Mooney-WDCS

Captive orcas are a sad caricature, a weary and spiritless version of
their wild counterparts. Visitors cannot help but leave with a distorted perception of
orcas and their environment. Most disturbingly, they may leave with the notion that it is
acceptable to confine orcas and other animals, solely to meet human demands for
entertainment and 'education' "Dying to Entertain You" Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society.

What about the Tiger sanctuaries which breed tigers in captivity for the sole purpose of releasing them when their numbers grow strong?
Can this same concept also be applied to orcas? Well, why not?
There are many examples all over the world of captive bred animals being released to boost wild population numbers. So. Why. Not. Orcas?
Is there perhaps some hidden agenda we don't know about? One that Sea World and other marine aquariums wish to hide?
