  • This vid makes me laugh every time bro! Lolz

  • @M424Filmcast Haha I'm glad you like it, man!

  • i could be wrong but i believe diversity was a wooden ship used during the civil war era

  • @spacestick1 I think you're absolutely right! haha

  • @TheLemondance Either I miss the point of your comment or you miss the point of my video. I'm leaning towards the latter.

  • @TheLemondance Explaining to you would be like explaining calculous to a child anyways; judging by your immature comment.

  • @Nixmix24 One last thing, sorry this is so long! I just wanted to defend your wife's perspective. I agree, she shouldn't be expected to learn Spanish just to keep her job at the bank. And I'm not saying that everybody should go out and become fluent in every language, because that's not realistic either. I just want to make the point that we need to stop hating on each other just based on surface details like race/language/etc. We have so much more underneath that which is common to all of us.

  • @tjpashak First, I just want to make sure you know that I do not condone racists or hatred of any kind based off of superficial details. I agree with you on that point 100%. My basic point in all of this is that just as we shouldn't hate and treat those who have a different skin color any differently, the flip side is true also. We shouldn't treat them in a special way either. According to MLK's family, that was his message and his belief when he gave his "I have a dream" speech...

I also wanted to make a quick point about the language issue. You asked if i think they can go on forever without learning any English. I do. I know for a fact that it is possible. One of my best friends growing up was an immigrant from Mexico. To this day his parents don't speak a word of English. I asked my friend why that is and he said, straight up, because they don't have to and they want to preserve their culture and heritage. There are so many recourses available in this nation...

  • cont..

that they really don't need to learn English or change their lives one bit. Which I think is great if they weren't forced on companies and schools and such. My problem is that we are forced to cater to the immigrants who CHOSE to come here either by legal or illegal means while they don't have to give an inch. I know that learning another language is hard. I learned Japanese before I lived there for a couple years and that was ridiculously hard. I've learned Spanish as well (which was...

  • cont..

considerably easier btw). But I would never go to another country hoping to make a new life for myself and expect them to learn English just to make my life easier. That would be extremely selfish of me to expect that. Of course other countries, especially in Europe, learn English. However, they don't learn it for our convenience. They learn it because English is the language of business and is, arguably, considered the international language... If not for that reason which stands alone..

  • cont..

..people who learn English to accommodate us do so because it brings in more business and revenue. The French are a prime example. They HATE it when we come to their country and don't speak French and will refuse to talk to us in English even when they speak it just fine. The businesses, however, do not show that same attitude and will only speak to you in English because they want your business. This is coming from a French-immigrant friend of mine who I go to school with right now...

I actually am part Native American but that's neither here nor there. I would rather not get into that debate because these comments are already long enough. Suffice it to say, the settlers did take over "their" land as has been done to almost every indigenous population around the world (Japanese Ainu, Australian Aborigines, etc) and since, they have been given everything and every opportunity to preserve their culture and such from the gov't and yet they are still in a terrible place...

  • cont..

They have been given everything and they do nothing with it anymore because they don't have to. The gov't sustains them without them lifting a finger. In fact, my Native-American grandparents were hated for leaving the reservation to make a life for themselves and stop sucking the teat of the American taxpayer. How dare they get an education so that they can be a productive member of society rather than a leech. I bring this up because it summarizes my whole outlook on this mentality...

  • cont..

I'm proud of my heritage but I am not proud of what they have become because of this entitlement mentality. As much as I hate to say it because they are "my people" in part they have become the laziest people on Earth (not all of them of course but you get the picture). And who can blame them? This is what I am fighting against. I don't want the Blacks and Mexicans and other minorities to become what the Native Americans are today. The liberal agenda does just that through these programs.

  • @Nixmix24 continued... having a mindset of inclusivity and being welcoming to others. It may be cliche to say this, but unless you're Native American we're ALL immigrants from some time or another in the past 200 years. Which, historically speaking, isn't really that long to be talking about how this is "our" language and "our" culture that's being squashed. In the big picture, we showed up about 5 minutes ago and decided that anybody after that who is different is being a pain in the ass.

  • @Nixmix24 continued... without having to eventually learn English? Maybe an adult immigrant won't learn English very well, but surely any of their children will. And it's HARD to learn a new language as an adult, while you're also financially struggling and working 3 jobs to feed your kids. Besides, when we visit other countries, there are tons of places that learn English to be accommodating to us! I'm just saying that regardless of your choice in learning a language or not, it's about ...cont

  • @Nixmix24 let me stick on the language thing as I think it's a good example. You argued that we will be giving up our culture and identities because we're expected to learn the languages of others, while immigrants aren't expected to learn English. How realistic do you think that is? Yes, most colleges require 2 years of a foreign language. But, they also require English classes, and you don't see everybody using perfect grammar... And do you really think immigrants can go forever without...cont

  • @Nixmix24 I appreciate that you researched before posting this - shows that you didn't want to rant without evidence. However, I have to somewhat disagree. You cited Chang and other similar data as examples of reverse-racism, and asked "are we really that bad...?" As a white student, I know it can be uncomfortable, BUT, we're the majority and thus need to know our status and the oppression imposed on others. That's why whites are the 1st target - as the majority, we need to spread inclusivity.

  • @tjpashak Thank you for your civil comment and for watching. My stance is that although we are the majority there's no reason why our culture should be squashed so that others are comfortable. When I lived in west LA, I was the minority. There is no way I would have expected the blacks to change anything about themselves just to make me happy. I understand why whites are the #1 target in the States. I just believe liberals make it a bigger deal than it is for political gain...

  • cont..

There is much to be gained when you bring in class and racial wars as the Left so often does. My point in all of this is, we shouldn't have to lower standards just to fill a racial quota in order to make people happy. People should be hired, promoted, accepted into schools, and so on based on merits alone. If that means a black man gets the job over a white man, so be it. He's more qualified, why shouldn't he get the job? judging people by merits is the only way to spread real inclusivity

  • @Nixmix24 I hear what you're saying, and these sort of things have no "correct" answer, but here are my thoughts:

    1. You asked why should our culture be squashed; what is it you foresee losing?

    2. Being liberal or conservative doesn't dictate one's views on diversity.

    3. The last thing you mentioned sounds like you're anti-affirmative action, which (although being a significant political debate on its own) is completely separate from the value of diversity courses and inclusivity-mindedness...

  • @tjpashak

    1. I foresee us losing our own identity as we try to conform to the identities of the rest of the cultures we are trying to coddle. They don't have to give an inch but we are expected to give anything up that makes them uncomfortable. For instance, it isn't expected of the immigrants to learn English when they decide to make a life here. Which would be fine except we are harassed into learning their language (which I had to in school in CA) and providing translation for them...

  • cont..

My wife doesn't speak a word of Spanish and without fail, at least once a week she gets some Latina/o in her bank who lectures her for not speaking Spanish. "tsk tsk. You really should learn Spanish" ...No you should speak English, you're in the States now where the predominant language is English. We don't NEED to learn another language to make their life easier because they don't want to learn our language. Sorry for the long winded answer but that wasn't a simple question haha...

  • cont..

    2. You're right. But it does shape your outlook and attitude towards it and the kinds of diversity one wants to push.

    3. I can't say that I'm anti-affirmative action. It has served its purpose and has done a lot of good. There's no denying it. I actually wrote a blog about it though and I think the link is in the description if you're interested in my quick treatment of the issue. But I have to disagree with you because you can't totally divorce the two issues of diversity classes and AA.

  • @Nixmix24 ... cont. Yes, merit should be a top priority for hiring decisions or admissions procedures. But consider the analogy of a 100 yard sprint. Even though our country is now an "equal opportunity" culture (i.e. we all start running at the same time), whites still have the privilege of starting at the 90 yard-line because of the way that money trickles down through families and power trickles down through similar-minded people. In the big picture, we still need more time to even things out

  • @tjpashak I illustrated my point about the preferential treatment of minorities in a story about a girl in the aforementioned blog which would serve as a rebuttal to your 100 yard sprint analogy. I see your point and I agree with it to an extent. However, I believe it's an old analogy that doesn't fit our society anymore. Not only that, but have you heard the "give a man a fish" analogy? We are giving too many fish at this point instead of teaching them to fish which does them way more harm...

  • cont..

When it comes down to it, I honestly feel like we have the same goal in mind. Just different methods. I feel like, if we are to use the fish analogy again, they were starving and the only choice we had was to give them some fish because they wouldn't have survived the teaching process. Now that they have been fed for decades, it's time to teach them to fish on their own so they can get away from this nanny state they are getting used to. The Native Americans are a perfect example of this

  • Thank you for posting this. I was actually referred to this video clip by my Human Relations instructor for a discussion we are having in class tomorrow. I totally agree with everything you said (it's almost as if you were reading my mind). Our culture has spent so much time trying to teach about diversity and yet can't even define diversity in a way for everyone to understand. Kudos to you for this video. I hope it earned an A.

  • thanks man.

  • @JCSVINDUSTRIES No, thank you for watching haha.

  • It's nice that the office supports everyone, as long as you're not a man, or white. Thank you for joining the growing ranks of those of us who see the Diversity folks, the politically correct thought police, as the racists and bigots that they really are. They just happen to be a cultural fad right now. Well, keep on protesting, and I will, too. Maybe one day we can change this garbage.

  • @Lachdenan Amen to that my friend. Amen. This is getting ridiculous but like you said, it's just a fad and "the cool thing to do" but like they teach you in elementry school, DON'T JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON! Just because "everybody else does it" that doesn't make it right.

  • I think you're racist. Take more classes. You'll feel better.

  • @edgartalk I think you're ignorant, look at the facts. If anything, this hurts the black community and the minorities. There's a reason why people who have everything handed to them without having to work for a thing fail 9 times out of 10. They don't know how to work when they get into the real world. This goes for everybody no matter your race. But go ahead and play the racist card. You don't know what you're talking about so that's all you've got. Run along little troll.

  • @Nixmix24 Don't get defensive. My comment obviously bothered you. But you are indeed racist. This isn't a subjective observation, this is purely objective, since you are only looking at a portion of the facts. The reason for that is racist. I really feel you need to study up on it more and present a cogent argument. It will make you feel better. And make you a better person. Study like the wind! (And stop being so defensive).

  • @edgartalk Don't flatter yourself. Like I said, you have nothing to back up your claim. I hear the rest of the argument every day at my highly liberal university and this is the side you don't see. I spent most of my life in LA where I was the minority at school and all of my friends were either black or hispanic. I know a racist when I see one and the left are the worst offenders. You are the one who needs to study the subject more before calling names based off of your own subjective opinion.

  • @edgartalk You're still getting defensive. Stop taking this personally. I'm just suggesting there are more arguments than the one you're putting out, which indeed is racist (e.g, talking about Hispanics, Blacks, etc.) That's all. But I'll stop making comments. You're taking this waayyy too personally.

  • @edgartalk Listen kid, once you called me a racist without knowing what you're talking about you made it personal. Like you wouldn't defend your position if you were called racist or a bigot or what have you. Get off your high horse. I realize there are more arguments. Those are the arguments we've BEEN hearing. Pointing out the side that everyone likes to ignore doesn't make me a racist and neither does giving you a little background. Support your vague claims if you want to be taken seriously.

  • Yeahhhhhhhh buddy!!! Awesome first post!!! Good Editing!

  • @M424Filmcast Haha Thanks man. It was fun to make even though it was a school project and 10 minutes long haha. I realized how nasally I sound on video though haha. i need to fix that
