my heart is just filled with worry for a family member. I cant shake this feeling off, everything just seems downhill i pray to god but i cant shake this feeling. But i do know that he loves me, and he cares and me worrying about something i cant control makes it worse. I need some verses to remember:)
@baseballfrk7425 -what goes up must come down. I think we are all familliar with that saying, but it works both ways. what goes down will arise, in one way or another-just wait and see-!!!
When my mum was concerned about me and my little brother, or the house or the family or anything at all really, my dad used to play this song to her. It was their wedding song. It may sound cheesy and stereotypical but this song held them together through the darkest of times. Ad when he passed away it was played as he was carried away from us, and it kept us together. Every word is so true. You only have one life, why spend it worrying? This song is as beautiful as him. Love you Dad xxx
Genuine positive youtube comments for classics like this prove how timeless these songs really are. Songs like this don't just suddenly get boring and irrelevant. These songs are forever.
Terribly sorry for your loss. The way you describe your husband and response to a very tough question reflects positively that you too are also a kind person like your husband.
I've been sitting here for some time now, listening to all the songs on this album. It is up there with there with a few others as one of the best albums ever recorded. It holds a special place in my heart. When my husband and I bought our first home, we sat in our new living room and would play this album over and over. I hear this now and tears pour. He died. He was only 41. I loved, respected and adored this wonderful man. He had my whole heart and he took it with him when he died.
@platter1000 It's ok. Your not rude. He had a genetic heart defect called "Wolfe-Parkinson-White Syndrome, which is an extra electrical pathway in your heart. We had just found out about it. It's a rare disorder and sudden death caused by it is even more rare. We were talking one minute and he was gone the next. I tried CPR but he was gone. He died in my arms. I discovered how your life can change in a split second.
He loved life and he was the kindest human being I ever knew. Truly.
@Msdistarr My parents have an old record player with this album. This song used to always skip when I was a kid as It's on the end of the vinyl. Finally I can listen to the whole song without trying to lift the needle up a bit and move it over. My old man loved Dire Straights and this is my favourite album....so many memories, love it!.....2:30 is where it skipped and got stuck....lol
@Msdistarr I am so sorry for your loss. My husband died at 44 years and music has proved to be the hardest thing to deal with. I could only listen to the news for months on the radio. It was that special connection we shared and I have a whole Itunes file of music I can't listen to properly yet. Each song a memory - I hear him singing. Does get easier, a little bit at a time but they leave such a big hole behind. x
@blatantchocscoffer1 I'm sorry for your loss as well. Your right about the music. We used to grocery shop together and I found I couldn't go to the same store or walk down the camping equip dept. in a store. Had to sell my boat. Couldn't use it anymore. It seems your brain and emotions dictate where you can and cannot go. It's out of your hands for a while. They were far to young to pass. But I do thank you for your reply. You take good care and be well. Thanks again.
@exomorphe This. I will never understand the popularity of pop-rock songs filled with synthesizers in the 80's. Foreigner's 4 is an example of what I mean. I prefer the entire discography of the 70's but 4 was considering a success which I don't understand. Maybe people back then preferred pop to songs with rock edge.
@TheGoldenPS1 well I can only speak for myself here, I was born in 80 so the synth sound was an integral part of my childhood. Obviously that's because as you said there was a taste for it then but if I remember correctly the 80's was a rather grim and tasteless decade anyway! There's a lot of tunes from the past that I and I guess many others cherish, though they have little merit, simply because of nostalgia.
I´ve always thought "eternity" is a very long time. Except if I passed it listening the final progression of this song. I´ve never heard anything similar.
@atleticoloco It is beautiful. I was just reading up on these guys and I wasn't aware of this but this album is one of the "Worlds" best selling albums, selling 30million, it was certified 9 times platinum in the US, it won 2 grammy's in 1986 and was remixed and won a grammy in 2006 for "Best Surround Sound Album" (A catagory I didn't know existed). Apparently, we aren't the only ones impressed by this brilliant music.
@Msdistarr Your love makes this world a bit more bright. I hope the love of your husband gives you the strength you need... he lives in your heart. Greetings from Spain.
@atleticoloco Your comment brought me to tears. Sometimes the kind words of a complete stranger can mean so much more than you realize and for that I thank you. You couldn't have chosen a better time or better words to say. I think I really needed to hear that today. You have lifted my spirit today. Thanks again. May you have a great rest of the day!
If we take the lyrics literally, we might miss the point. Fear, pain, mental/physical scars may fade away, or may not ever...., but this song is written by someone loves someone so very much, feeling pains of their loved ones, wishing away their pain, or just simply be there for them when they are needed...., just my 2c interpretation. :-)
This music has a beauty incomparable.Although the board I've cried many tears at the sound of this music in a compulsive way, because wake up the next day was worse. You suffer, and suffer in this in advance and hurt you

@1989Oddball Agreed. This song is for people who enjoy life and relaxation. Those 6 dimwits obviously don't enjoy living or rest. They should take the "walk of life". :D
@dogsbollocks11 Hahahahahaha! It's a "Soviet Russia" joke, not meant to be serious!!! People do a lot of these jokes, just for fun, only!! Ok? I hope you got it.... It seems you've never seen one of these jokes, hahaha! :D Have a nice day, my friend! :D (with a good ac and lots of icecream!)
This is the perfect song to play in many situations. In my case, I play it while I drive a car on a long journey, and turn up the base (I have an equaliser) with low volume. It is absolute magic. Make sure no-body else is talking in the car though.
My Brother Colin and I loved this song , album and the work of Dire Straits. One day I was balling my eyes out yelling "Why" ! My brother looked up to me from his death bed after a horrific motorcycle accident and said "That's right bro , Why Worry" ! This song took on a whole different meaning for me after that experience ! I really miss my Brother !
Sit alone all night.....the only light you can is the sterio light....Think of the person you miss so much and can't be with. This is ..Why Worry" all over.
I just hate it, that our billboard charts are filled with such soulless shit like Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas. Almost all my friends have no sense for real music. But its good that there are still people like you who think this way.
@RonTaboga Well I dont even pay atention to that anymore ,but it makes me sad when I can't hear good music on radio...Or people who listen to this, I havent met people like that in years :/...
Suddenly a bit of this song popped up in my mind and seconds later I was listening to the full version of this absolutely beautyful piece of music here. Thanks :)
Really sorry to hear of your loss, you tugged at my heart strings. What a beautiful song this is.

The fact that this is arguably the weakest song on the entire album tells you just how great Dire Straits were at that time.
