The dogs were fooled because Joe Owens walked in a circle around at least once, but probably a couple times, and then went up further and killed himself. The dogs got confused and trailed the stronger scent.
That Joe was a pretty clever guy. Except for the fact he dug a giant hole in his backyard and let his neighbor take pictures.
All this about the slicing sound. Gladice I know your old but divorce Joe "I'm Going To Kill You!" Owens and take him for all he is worth and his little garden too. Why do bad boys like joe Owens get all the ladies I guess you've got to kill a little!
You're right, that sound is so effective, it's visceral, and should be used in film, to frighten. It's horribly effective. I wonder why that is. It's really shocking.

At about 5:25, right after Stack says the case took turns worthy of a Hitchcock film, the background music quotes directly from Bernard Herrman's score to Hitchcocks VERTIGO. Great movie, great score, great shoutout to them both from whoever scored this episode of UM.

@scoresby33 OMGLOL, im laughing so hard about this now that i cannot even watch the video! I heard it and shit scared the shit out of me too, the speakers are turned up because the sound quality sucks, so i minimized the video to look at the comments because i knew somebody posted on it.
