  • hey..did anyone know that bryan adams wrote this song for joe..and if u look carefully..u can see bryan in the video too with the guitar..:):)

  • What with the f*&king ads? Great song!

  • terrific song!

  • I guess it's a little low self steem, but would love to say to someone...I just wanna be the one..When the night comes!!!

  • @ludan68 If you're a man, or a woman, you can say that! Just be prepared to live up to your promises & commitments. I've done it with 2 ex-wives. It's expensive, but I sleep good at night :) I'm good at promises, but not real good at commitment...

  • section from 2:50-3:12 ten thousand times worthier than ALL crappy mtv fake bands' discographies. A Yell to face life: a real SURGE OF ADRENALINE!

  • @oilingup yeah, nice observation - terrific built-up/suspense/anticipation

  • @2hansome exactly! :-) as well as his trademark "yell". The song may be deemed - IMHO of course - as a self answer song to the legendary "With A Little Help....." 20 years earlier

  • only 143,097 views... such a shame... this is true rock.... it has such heart and soul

  • Funny thing... I lived in Germany for 6 years. The most popular american artists were; Elvis, AC/DC, Joe Cocker, & Roger Whitaker. They'd barely heard of Bob Seger, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. The new stuff was starting to pervade though. I heard Katie Perry's " I kissed a girl" before I left.

  • Have you ever tried to sing like him for Karaoke(sp?) or something? Man, trying to imitate his voice is almost impossible! Makes me cough :) One of a kind, for sure. Yes, msclcrazy, it's shame. Nowdays, someone has to be "pretty" & can sing a little to make it. Music has become visual. Thanks MTV!

  • @svalencourt i agree 100%

  • I cant believe I forgot this song, one of my faves when it came out...Was poking around some other Joe Cocker stuff and I saw the link! Finding it again was like manna from heaven. A rush of late night memories cruising and listening to this song...No cell phones, no texting, no red light cameras and the man wasnt hassling anyone. Rock on Joe!

  • WAYNE ADESSO

  • Joe Cocker- When The Night Comes

  • Joe Cocker is AWESOME!! I have this song and "Feelin' Alright" on my iPod!! :)

  • I Know There Will Be A Time For You And I

Just Take My Hand And Run Away

Pick Up All The Pieces Of This Shattered Dream

We'll Make It Out Some Day.....

  • A beautifully composed song, that certainly was not easy to construct. Classic. Joe Cocker was the perfect choice to make this a hit. Timeless stuff.

  • I know that there is video out there with Bryan Adams doing this song acoustically, but is this the only version that has Aldo Nova playing the solo?

  • damn,im addicted to this song!

  • I love this song. It exemplifies Joe Cocker's talent...he didn't have a great singing voice, but he absolutely put his whole being into every song he sang.

  • This remind me of the man I love. xxx I love you baby!

  • Is that Bryan Adams at 1:16-18 ?

  • @olentangy74 Yes, it's Bryan. He wrote this song for Joe Cocker and shares composer credits for this track.

  • Wasn't this the theme song to a movie with Tom Selleck where he is a convict?

  • Not looking for an argument here. We're both right. Wiki says Phil Grande played lead on all songs BUT "When the Night Comes", where Aldo Nova played lead.

    Cheers!

  • Why do I always run into idiots in my life who act stupid- lie- and seem to have a death wish? I can't wait to get my money - watch everyone involved be sentenced to death- and enjoy my life

  • great song but god why does he have that horrible scream thing going on, it totally ruins the song

  • @raisetheflag88 uh, it IS the song

  • @raisetheflag88 totally disagree, thats one of the driving forces of this awesome song

  • I LOVE this...didn't know that Aldo Nova played lead in this.

  • @calciofan10 It's not Aldo Nova, it's Phil Grande

  • This is not my cand off music

  • after delta lady this is my fave by him

  • To listen to Bryan Adams ;)

  • Makes Me Think Of My Life And The Women Who Come And Gone.

  • Everybody surely am makin' all the right faces ! What about those back-up singers!

  • The 80's was the last decade of good music.

  • one of the best songs from Joe!

  • I wounder who the back up vocals are? nice voice.

  • I wounder who the back up vocals are? nice voice.

  • After analyzing this song, I realized that the words should not go;

Let's put all our cares behind us

and go where they'll never find us.

    But instead should go

Let's put all our cares behind us

and go don't know where to find us.

I know, that doesn't make sense, but it rhymes better and is easier to jam to. Try it at a karaoke bar, you'll see what I mean.

No one'll question it, it's a Joe Cocker song!

  • if you listen to the words. you will probaby say. wow! why didn't think about this song when I had a fight with my girl friend.well. the good news is. you do not have to wait till next fight. just sudenly sen it to her and see what happens. you might thank me. lol

  • this song is the best

  • I playd this song at a bar once. and every body loved it.

  • fantastičnoooooooooooo....:D

    neponovljiv....samo je jedan Joe!!!

  • Actually, mario307, it's a collaborative effort between Bryan, Jim Vallance, and Diane Warren. Hit #11 in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Everybody is talkin of road music. Strange cause yesterday I posted on FaceeBook the same. Was a roadtrip from Cincy to Aspen to ski and musta listened that disk idonno how mant times. Jackson Browne, too. Yep! Probably J.C. @his best>>>> Thnxfortheloadup

  • this song of joe. is good. his best

  • My Girl got a ticket in Currituck NC jammin' out to this song getting back to me in the Outer Banks of NC at 1 AM. Proudly Married 8+ years...... Yeah we danced listening! ;)

  • A good rocksong + guitarsolo doesn't come much better than this. Play loud while driving on an empty freeway......before you know you have arrived ;-))

  • the man on the Rhythm Guitar is Bryan Adams he wrote the song for Joe Cocker!

  • YES

  • who is the guitarist in this video? anyone know who it is?

  • Isn't it funny how you have to go back in time to find really good music...SAD just SAD!

  • @msclecarcrzy i agree with u dude...today's music suX!!!!

  • @msclecarcrzy I disagree. There's all kind of amazing artists out there, you just need to know where to look.

  • @888greg888 You are correct. II am from The Beatles generation, and there IS great music being made these days. The difference is that not much of it is innovative, and many artists sound the same. Still, good stuff keeps coming out. Just different.

  • @msclecarcrzy (LOL) Thank goodness we can "go back", via You-Tube. It keeps me sane through this chaotic society that we're living through right now..

    GodBless

  • This has gotta be one of the best songs ever i mean the guitar riffs, the black back up singers, and Joe Cocker it don't get no better.Had to save this one to favorites.

  • Great song and video!

  • GREAT!

  • This song fits Joe's voice phenomenally well... And, vice-a-versa, of course.

He has one of the very most powerful of vocals in rock music, hence this song has the such great power driving it throughly.

  • I want to use this song for my wedding

  • check out " Let it grow "- Eric Clapton('74)

make you cry like a baby

  • @johnnyarockalypse exelent choice. I am shure your mate will feel special. nice choice.

  • @johnnyarockalypse , Amazing, I Thought The Same Thing When I Was Listening To It. You Have Good Taste In Music.

  • i'd go with "feels like forever". hope it's not too late, but THAT'S a love song

  • An instant favorite for all who appreciate great Classic rock...Joe really delivers!

  • .......Ah Yea......brings back good memories always- of watching this vid in early 1990, being 22, living home... at a house that no longer exists.

  • great song!! Joe is amazing, I do like the version with the sax better!!!

  • Sweet Tune!

  • gotta love everything about this song, the solo is incredibly inspiring, the guitar player shows it with that look on his face.

    just amazing, thanks for posting.

  • youtube is like the girl with the curl. When they are good they are very good, like finding amazing songs I hadn't heard in years like this and when they are bad, like removing certain movies because of copyright, they are horrid. :D

  • ♥ Loving This Song ♥♥ Awesome ♥

  • I love this mans voice and feeling! He nails it every time!

  • I am a huge Bryan Adams fan, but I do prefer this version. When Bryan performs this track during his live shows, he never seems to get the same emotion. Joe Cocker seems to really feel this song.

  • Go on Joe...sing it mate....Awesome track awesome artist!

  • Not enough words can describe this man's voice.....simply intense.

  • For over twenty years, I have thought this song has one one HELL of a guitar solo. Can anyone tell me who the player is? He is good.

  • Phil Grande. His work on the album "One Night of Sin" made me pick up a guitar in the first place!

  • tiktorideS: I believe that's Bryan Adams. Joe did such a good job with one of his songs he asked him to play on it when he recorded it. Adams didn't have any success with this song even though he wrote it.

  • The soloist is Aldo Nova.

  • 2:15 nice shot of Bryan Adams in there too!

  • Joe Cocker is one of my favorite artist I like this song but for me Bryan Adams version of this song is better

  • Great song! My favorite from Joe.

  • my all time favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So much soul ,so litle recognition

  • I remember the first time i heard this song was at the closing credits of a Tom Selleck Movie may years ago ...and i've loved it ever since. Also i've always loved Joe's deep soulful voice..." go head" !

  • Jesus is that a good song.

  • Awesome rendition of this Bryan Adams song...If you look closely Bryan is in this video as well, as he wrote the song.

  • Madmax,

Adams is quite the songwriter but his own version fell flat. Kudos to Adams for participating but laying back and letting Cocker do his thing. Cocker is a master at taking an original version of a song while enhancing it with his soul, like he did on 'With A Little Help'. The keyboard track along with the background vocals and his own lead vocals were his own works and turned a DOA work into a hit. Work of genius on Adams' part handing over the song to Cocker.

  • At what point did everyone stop wanting to be musicians and start wanting to be "Rockstars?"

Sometimes I almost forget how good music can really be until I go back and listen to the greats.

  • This is Joe Cocker's best song IMO. Very inspirational. Does anyone know which album this is on?

  • I love this song-- my ex husband and his lover - this was there song but I love this song despite those idiots as it has a totally different meaning to me.

  • perhaps the three of you should bury the hatchet and have a threesome?

  • ProfessorHobo

I believe the title to the album is 'One Night of Sin.' It was also released on a greatest hits album around the mid 90s I think but I think on the greatest hits album it contains the slightly edited version like in the video. The only thing I think that's been edited out of the original full version is the keyboard intro, about 25 seconds or so.

  • This song was written by Bryan Adams. Yea the canuck eh..LOL great song written and bryans version is great If you can find it listen to it. And with no disrespect to Mr. Cocker, Joe does an AWSOME job. As always. :D

  • Powerful!!!

  • Best Cocker song:

High Time We Went, although this is pretty good, too.

  • I still have the single for this on audio tape.

  • I would have to say this is my favorite Joe Cocker song, it's so awesome.

  • Very nice of you. My first concert ever? Janis Joplin opening for Jimi Hendrix!

  • Now THAT must have been a GREAT concert! I wish I was around back then!

  • This song was used in a 1989 Tom Selleck movie An Innocent Man. Great movie.

  • brilliant...no one emotes like Joe Cocker...sings every song like it's his very last. Love it.

  • That's the kind of faces you get to make, when you can make guitar noises like that! And what about those back-up singers! Absolutely GREAT! Thanks Joe!

  • I agree!! and the back-up singers,Great voices!!!

  • Smokin guitar solo !

  • Best song he ever did by far!! Gives me chills just to listen!

  • man, i heard this jingle on the radio the other day, haven't heard this tune in years! best song by this dude and by a long shot!

  • Thanks for posting this classic performance. Amazing band and back up vocals. Got to see Joe Cocker at Carnegie Hall back in the late 60s with Clapton, Leon Russell, Duane Allman, etc. Great stuff.

  • Great posting!

    Faved it.

  • thank you emiamericarecords big up to you for play good old school everybody have done this man song and play him , oh you know saturday night live, we love you , it his voice that hard but true to the sound ,

  • I bet that Gokey could have rocked the house with this song. He had the voice for it.

  • Great song.

    thank you!!

"I just want to be the one you run to..."

  • LOVE THAT VIDEO

  • awesome song, and the girls are very sexy!!

  • This video blew me away when I first saw it on MTV. Twenty years later, I'm still blown away. Joe, you ROCK.

  • Do you know the year it was released- the song that is? I am wondering if I can request it on the 80's on XM Radio.

  • 1989

  • Thanks- going to call the 90's on 9 and request if-- should I dedicate it to my ex husband and his ex lover?

  • i just heard this song from a don henly song but this is actually pretty kick ass

  • i garuntee this rock way harder than the don henley version

  • I didn't know Don Henley did a version of this. I'll have to check it out!

  • who is playing the guiter looks like bryan adams

  • that is bryan adams...he wrote this song

  • lol, and if he sang it? The song would have just been more wuss rock! God Bless you Joe!!!!!

  • I had no idea Bryan Adams wrote the song. I love this song and love Bryan Adams.

  • Joe is the best. There is a kid that sings like him and does faces like him. Watch a video from the movie The Commitments and tell me that guy doesn't remind you of Cocker.

  • While pregnant my ex husband took a lover and tried moving her in and this was there song. I love this song and it reminds me not to ever let a man hurt me like that again.

  • Wow. I'm amazed that you can still listen to this song and be motivated by it positively. Rock on!

  • This song does a couple of things- it reminds me to never let another man make a fool of me again and it also has memories of someone else other than my ex and his skank lover.

  • That scream from 3:08 to 3:13 is brutal. Awesome job, Joe. Love the song.

  • Variety is the spice of life. I like a wide selection of great music. My music library would not be complete WITHOUT Joe. A Must Have Artist.

  • I have VIP tickets to see Joe this weekend (sat 8/16/08) in Reno w/ Steve Miller Band. I am pretty geeked about it. Can you say living legend?

  • I envy you? I won't go that far. LOL. Joe Cocker is a true living legend.

  • OK, I came, I saw, and Joe kicked ass! Steve Miller was cool as always (my 3rd time seeing them) but seeing/hearing JC was a true privilege. He did a 1:20 min set and was well worth the 5hr drive. His performance was done w/ skill and true professionalism. I swear I had goosebumps when he did "little help w/" & "when the night"

-THX 4 a great show Joe!-

  • Cocker rules! Thanks Pete

  • My dad bought this album when it was released. I was 14 years old. Brings back good memories.

  • You Are So Beautiful----- to me-- cant you see--

    (don't get me started.)

i still wear my joe cocker shirts from the 70's....

  • who's the lead guitarist... the dude who plays the solo?

  • FabulousThunderbird: I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I'm pretty sure that's Earl Slick.

  • the lead guitar solo is done by aldo nova of "fantasy" fame

  • Thanks for that correction, diamondunicorn1983!

  • R u serious? that is Aldo Nova?

  • The one guy playing guitar looks like bryan adams but the one doing the mean ass solo isnt.

  • bryan adams plays rhythm guitar on this song, and a musician named aldo nova plays lead guitar on this song...... i didnt know that until recently either

  • Ah yes, Aldo Nova..he sang that great song called Fantasy in the 80s..

  • he is stevie ray's brother. I believe his name is jimy

  • Fantastic! Keep Rockin' On, Joe.

  • I don't know why it has taken me so long to add this Solid Gold song to my Favorites list. This is a masterpiece!

  • My best friend James turned me on to Joe years ago. Now after all these years I still think he is awesome. James died last year and his wife played Joe at his funeral. Joe is great!!!!

  • A Great love song.

  • love this song!!!!!!! 89 was full of great songs. Also great memories,I ditched the pain in the ass BITCH I was with,And became single again!89 was great!

  • not a better voice on the planet

  • - e o oVOme sam ti pevao pre utabane trave :)

  • -sjajno. :)

  • This is good ol pure rock and roll. The lyrics have meaning and the guitar licks are great. This is how rock music should sound!!

  • JOES COOL

  • Joe just played in Wichita a few weeks ago and he rocked the house! I saw him in Germany in 1994 and he was great then and still is! Go Joe!

  • Written and performed by Bryan Adams, and he does a good job...but this song was MADE for Joe Cocker...no one else could do this great tune better.

  • songs like this would have such a hard time finding air play on contemporary radio these days, it's really sad. never mind teh fact joe isn't a marketable image, which is more important nowadays. now i know why i don't listen to new music much any more. i gotta get me one of them fancy satellite radio systems.

  • Man, they don't make music like they used too. Back when it was real. Brilliant! Awesomely brillian!

  • I have always LOVED this song. Bryan Adams appearance is also hot! Who are those back up singers anyway - they are really something!! beautiful voices. I agree...this IS Joe Cockers most underplayed song! Didn't I hear at sometime that Bryan Adams actually wrote this song? Lots of people don't know it was from that Tom Selleck movie - but I can't remember the name of it.

  • Yeah, Adams owns it. Adams was good too. Way hot! The artists like Adams, Crocker and Seger too, are missing from this generation. I miss those days - I miss the sounds.

  • the name of the film is -an innocent man

  • teammomzie -i agree. I was in college from 86-90, and the music then was the best I think it's ever been! This song came out in '89 and I remember distinctly driving down the highway in Orlando at nighttime jamming to this song by myself and just LOVING life! Now..I'm 40 and the music is crap!! Does every generation say that?
