In many ways Miles was a 'minimalist'. He did so much with so few notes. Round sharp and complete. The comment about the guitar is not only unfortunate but silly. Thanks for the post twoties
3:10-3:12.....really Garth? According to these comments, you're so amazing. You couldn't come up with a better response to miles lick. Truly a musician with not a hair of understanding of what tasteful improvisation is.
Great guitar player.Great tone live and has the touch "Soft "to "Hard attack". Fluid also
I get a kick out of critics that do not have any "road miles" in real experience or less than 25 gigs in their life. They want to spout off as if they have a plane to catch to LA recording studios and then to an interview with a musical publication. Let alone have sold any units of recorded material or received payments from ASCAP. Nah,I think you should put up your video or post "your" new compositions
@twoties I apologize for the comment I really don't like his playing at all but there is no need for that kind of talk. But I will say that just because this man is playing a blues with miles doesn't make him a great guitarist.
@Andross402402 , he is great rhythmically, in the pocket and great blues phrasing with a hint of rock to boot. your insolence is unwarranted towards this guitar player... His playing is pretty distinctive, at least to my ears. hell, miles probably thought he kicked arse...
Miles wasn't playing for notes.....he was playing with intention....its about the feeling....the spacious weak phrases build alot of suspense...n it really matches wut he was trying to create with the song.......thats miles davis.....blue mitchel, wynton or anybody else wouldve played longer, more impressive phrases, but....y? it wouldnt fit the wierd approach he wanted....
Thanks for posting this. A rare piece of footage with an unfamiliar guitar player. Who he? I love the way the German audience talks the entire way through this!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This guitar player is a beginner harmonically, melodically, and rhythmically. Its very obvious.

@Andross402402 Wow , here´s a real expert speaking:-)
hey, it´s just blues! do you really think Miles would go on Tour with a "beginner"?

@twoties I love Miles, he's my favorite, but he did have Kenny G open for him once. Everybody makes mistakes man.

I can hear a lot of notes that he didn't play. What's the point of playing with Miles Davis, I wonder.

The one and only Garth Webber.
One of his best guitar solos.

Was this ever released on CD or DVD? I've seen the "Miles Davis - Live in Munich" DVD from 1988 but this youtube video is from 1986.
