  • Playing a guitar with a bow is so epic. :)

  • I wish I was a few years older so that I could have seen them live at Lowlands

  • @bloepa Why older? Couldn't go by then?

  • this is music i love....

  • The emotion of being of a certain age, caught magically. Pure genius.

  • There is so much beauty in this world, sometimes I can't handle it.

  • i like it ;)

  • I'm surprised I love this so much, I used to listen to nothing but metal, thank you open mindedness.

  • That's it, I'm working on my falsetto exclusively from now on.

  • @animefreak1297 Hi there. The reason to why they are singing in a made up language is to make a more soothing sound, and to make the words flow better with the music. It's actually not far from what many other artists do. Not all lyrics makes sense, they just flow with the music.

  • @MortenLaffen the language used in this song isn't made up, this really is icelandic..

  • @jedissson Hi there! I know that. I wasn't referring to this song. I was referring to other songs where they are singing in Volenska. If you read the discussion further down, you'll see what I mean. :)

  • @MortenLaffen It's only ( ) that's in a made up language?

  • pure music.

  • he's lip syncing the high notes ;-;

  • Lol at the guy who lights up a doobie @ 2:42

but in all seriousness, this music is true beauty.

  • I stood there, in front, shedding tears, among all the other people doing the same. Felt awkward but the atmosphere was so indescribably beautiful that there was no other logical thing to do. Rationality just quit itself in a moment of surrender to nothing but pure emotion. Damn. Best concert ever.

  • so i was just informed that he is not saying real words. now i respect and listen to all kinds of music, but wtf. that's not music, it's like playing a record and having a baby talk over it. it makes absoloutley no sense. at all.

  • @animefreak1297 So it's not a real language. Who cares? This band has produced some of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard, and if that's not music I'd like to see your definition.

  • @animefreak1297 This song is sung entirely in Icelandic, as are parts and entire songs on other CDs of their. The rest of the songs are left to a made up language referred to as Vonlenska or Hopelandic....

  • @animefreak1297 It's not only real words, but they're beautiful, IMHO. To roughly translate, it starts out "Now you wake / everything seems changed / I peer out / but I can see nothing", and continues on up to the first chorus: "En hvar ert þu?" -- literally, "But where are you?" This changes in the second chorus to "En hér ert þu, finnst mér / En hér ert þu, glósóli" ("But here you are, I feel / But here you are, a glowing sun"). The song is a metaphor between a woman and the rising sun.

  • @animefreak1297 your name is animefreak...gay...the end...

  • @xfallofmanx oh wow. well at least anime is a real thing. and I'm not gonna be too offended to be insulted by someone who has shitty drum playing videos on their channel. Kbye.

  • Is this in another language? because those words are inaudible.

  • @animefreak1297 Jonsi sings a majority of Sigur Ros songs in a made-up language called Volenska, or "Hopelandic". It's like gibberish that sounds good when put over music.

  • 4 people must listen to Smash Mouth.

  • @naRevolution why must people have such poor taste in music

  • Failure gives me strength. Pain is my motivation

  • The 4 people who dislike were probably high and just clicked the wron button this is glorious

  • Iv never had privilege to see these live but even just the videos and cd's make me feel all emotional and stuff and I consider myself quite unemotional normally. Couple people I know have seen these live and said they just stand and stare in amazement, would love to see them live one day

  • 3 seconds into the song and my hairs are on end...

  • I friggin love this band... this is my favourite song off there Takk album... :) x

  • 'Iceland: Beyond Sigur Ros' (2011). New free music documentary out! :)

  • WTF???? apparently there are 3 funs of lady gaga who saw this video..!!! sigur ros is simply amazing...

  • @fsgonzalezf I'm a fan of Lady Gaga and I didn't dislike this video. I'm assuming those people tried to click like but missed it

  • @astheends How could you be a fan of Lady Gaga and listen to this also. Lady Gaga isn't even real music.

  • I remember freshmen year of college one night I was blasting this song while stoned and I was hanging upside down out my window staring at the stars and during the final part I swear the building turned into a rocketship and I was blasting off towards those stars.

  • @NiklasMusic If you like this, you should check out the Heima version. It'll change your life.

  • Can't wait till they tour again. I'll fly anywhere in the world to see this live. Too bad I didn't discover them until after the hiatus.

  • 2:02 i'm pretty sure he's stoned but if i'm honest i don't give two hoots as long as musical genius like this is produced

  • I want that hat the drummer always wears

  • U2 got nothin on these guys!!!!!!

  • Sigur ros music! the best pleasure!!!

  • this song takes me to a place I call paradise.

  • OMG!!!

    OMG!!!

    OMG!!!

  • love this song :)

  • Ik heb deze band op werchter gezien het was zalig gewoon!!!

Een pintje ,de ondergaande zon ,en prachtige muziek, wat wil een mens nog meer ?

    Grtz.

  • I hope these guys continue to make music.

They are in a league all their own. It's such a joy to listen to.

  • @PeonSanders911

No worries. I heard in an interview with Jonsi that Sigur Ros will be back with another album sometime in 2011. The only problem there is the wait....

  • What was the interview, and can you add a link please? Thanks a lot....

  • look at his face his literlarly pooring his heart and soul out in this song.. i know some icelandic but not enough to know exactly what his saying. but u dont have to know what there saying to know what its about. sigur ros works like that and i love them for it

  • this was the very best live performance i've ever FELT. cause that's what happened, their soundwaves communicate directly with your soul... hard to try not to cry. I never felt this connected with everything like during their set. Awesome

  • @loudanov 200% true! I can't imagine ever feeling music more than this concert!

  • Drummer's hat is incredibly awesome.

  • Amazing song, amazing performance, amazing band! This song is so unique! May it interest some of you to know that sometimes Jonsi performs this song with a second bass guitar? 2 Basses at the same time provides a richer sound at the beginning. Try watching that performance.

  • They are fucking amazing...

  • çok kötü performans. maalesef

  • I've visited Lowlands almost every year. This must have been the best performance of all those years. Goosebumps all over. Teardrops too, sometimes. Most shivering moment: when the brasstards came on stage during Sé Lest.

Only the first Lowlands-gig of Arcade Fire came close to this experience.

  • Wow, Lowlands 08 was an AMAZING show...

  • after years of listening to them and not listening to them i always find myself speechless when i do

  • i barely discovered them and i wonder how ive never heard of them!

  • great version, I noticed Jonsi's voice began to fall out at the end however.

  • my heart's caught in my throat. I can't believe this AWESOME band....

  • The music is unik.. the band are so creative. Beautiful songs... Always lighting up my day..

  • I was there too! Loved the performance!

  • I will never ever ever ever ever forget this preformance. I remember standing there and not being capable of moving because I was astounded by so much beauty... And when I finally did look around me, I saw everybody doing the exact same thing. Tear-filled eyes, a very big bunch of extremely happy people.

It's extraordinary that music can do this.

When I think back to this moment, I sigh and feel that intense happy feeling all over again.

  • You stated the experience so well...thank you.

  • @vishstick I was there as well, and I totally agree. I have been crying for an hour, during, and afterwards the performance. It was pure magic. A lot of people around me did the same, even the toughest guys....

    Sigur Ros <3

  • @vishstick

wow man ..lucky you...i wish i could see them too

  • that video doesnt justify the awesomness of this song

maybe its the video, or the sound or mayeb them live?

  • The best concert I ever witnessed. People even started crying because of the music. You could hear a worm crawling over the floor between songs. Absolutely AMAZING.

  • I was there. I'm soooo happy I was there! Sigur Rós is probably the best band I'll ever hear in my entire life.

How big is the chance that another band will come up, and give me the feelings that Sigur Rós gives me?

  • Never Anihalas! They are the most amazing band ever.

  • 0

I feel the same way. And i listen to a lot of different stuff... Nothing touches you like the magic of Sigur Ros (how)ever.

  • Goosebumps time....their music touches the soul. The latter part of the album version provides us with the ultimate wall of sound! Jonti et al....please do Bestival next year. The beautiful Isle of Wight will be the perfect setting for your beautiful music....

  • I was there, it was amazing... the best concert ever!!! Everyone started to cry... and it was raining ah good memories.

  • fucking brilliant...

  • nice

  • does anyone know where I can find the video to this song?

Can't find it anywehere on youtube

  • its everywhere on youtube mate.

  • I'm Swedish too and can't find it. That's because they have blocked our country. Too bad.

  • you can find it on google video's ;)

  • Smart ;)

  • Sigur Rós music sounds naturally beautiful.

  • sigur ros is love

  • this is really sick music, dude, they´re REALLY good at express feelings and stuff in their music!

  • Their music is AMAZING!

It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.

I have never heard anything like this before, and there will be nothing that can match it.

  • Best performance on Lowlands that year, period. Freaking Epic.

  • No words to describ the feeling of Sigur Rós' musics. By the way, i love Jónsi's Guitar :D

  • just the voice performance! the most creative band in the world!

    thank you for this pleasure

  • try Led zeppelin

  • already done! not a such pleasure

  • zeppelin are probably the most overrated rock band in history

  • lmao

  • me too...

  • jonsi looks great!

  • Stunning.

  • one my fav songs since last spring...spiritual, it takes you to a higher level of feeling...amazing...

  • I agree..

  • Fantastic vid. After this performance I was done with Lowlands. It wouldn't get any better then this anyway.

  • I cried almost through out the whole thing... this music live is so much more than any other live music ive ever heard or seen...

  • and yet so much less at the same time

  • iáiá

  • Discard that comment. I didn't post it myself.

  • Fuck off. Sigur Ros are brilliant.

  • Maybe just not your kind of music?

  • It is a drug :)

  • A Sigur Rós performance is better than any drug i tried so far.

  • I agree. Didn't need the pot the people in front of us were smoking to get high off of the performance yesterday at the Greek Theater in Berkeley.

  • @dot44loveletter combine them :]

  • @dot44loveletter : I don't know why you got so many thumbs ups, but clearly a man who compares music to drugs is mentally retarded. What you're saying is that drugs is the next best thing to Sigur Ros. Drugs is never good. end of. You have at least 55 fellow retards. Good job

  • @pishabness Music and drugs both effect the brain. I am not saying their effects are the same - few studies exist analyzing the brain and music - but there is a possibility that both produce similar and perhaps overlapping effects. While drugs are not/rarely beneficial when used recreationally, there exists a reason why they are used: the user finds pleasure in their effects on their brain. When you listen to music, you also feel pleasure. Therefore they can be compared. Forebear your insults.

  • @pishabness Thanks for saving me the time of having to write the same thing.

  • @dot44loveletter

I agree their music is celestial..not from this time matrix.....

  • @dot44loveletter dunno dude sigur ros and some mushrooms might prove an awsome combo

  • I agree too.

What an amazing experience was this performance. I couldn't grasp what I heard, saw & felt. I knew their music from cd's and I knew it was special. But live...absolutely stunning.

Indeed the best I've ever experienced.

  • Beautiful.... best ever seen

  • You're an hero.

  • I agree, Rallephf......... It was somehow more than just a gig.. There was magic in the air, and love! What an overwhelmingly beautiful experience..

  • Best ever seen
