Just had another look at Medion website. The X6815 comes in 3 variants the £549 version is i5 then £699 gets you the cheapest i7 version then £749 for the top 1tb hdd and 8gb RAM.

I will be getting this laptop for sure. It's available now for £549 inc delivery! What a bargain for the spec. I am a bit confused by some of the reviews I've seen as to the processor, some are saying its a i7 and others say i5. The website states its an i5, it don't matter really because it's not a huge difference.

@SchremsaKrocha - There's different models/versions under "Medion Erazer X6815" [listed in brackets beside the notebook's label on the box and in the manual--made of numbers]. Mine just happens to be a model that comes with 4GB RAM. Also depends on the timing. They can update models and so forth as well.

@X64Marduk It's not the GTX 555M, just GTX 555 (M would mean mobile version for laptops) The new Alienware X51 has the GTX 555 in but I've yet to see any game ran on it as it's a brand new card I believe

@DarkRipper117 GTX cards are better then normal GT's. the X stands for Xtreme. so its better then a GT555M.

@Staniusen you should never get a build in graphic card from intel. Those are crap ass hell. You should better look around for a laptop with a nice Nvidia or Ati graphic card they are more designed for gaming. Inteld hd graphic cards are mostly just there to support windows they, those laptops are mostly there to just process stuff very fast without needing to render high-end graphics. You wont run any new games with that.

@HalfEatenMushroom - Hi again. I have an i5 also. The i5 is good. Sometimes the i5 -[depending on the *exact* version/model] can outperform some i7s @ gaming. You can play BF3.

@GamingTVZone - I'm afraid not no. Not with this GPU. Even if you overclocked it. BF3 is the most demanding game I've ever encountered. You could play with everything on "High" most likely on a low resolution but with FPS games you want high FPS for maximum efficiency in your gameplay.

When i got my laptop *its kinda old now though* i got myself a 9600m gt with it i thought i could play crysis on high with it because i saw that on youtube but mine had gddr2 and that guy had gddr3 so i couldnt even run it at low graphics

@ahmedkhan94 - Sorry, but unfortunately no. You will be getting about the same FPS as me. However, the GT 555M is a good overclocking card. I've recently overclocked mine for a good 7-10FPS more on avg. I don't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing though, ofc, and it depends on your laptop's cooling. That aside, you will be getting about the same performance as mine with those specs. I run the game on med-high.

@ahmedkhan94 if u can get a core i7 quad, if u want BF3, BF3 loves the extra cores and that will majorly help the FPS a lot especially in Close quarters or large numbers of people combat.

I really want to buy the latest graphics card from Nvidia, but will my laptop support it?

@SSTritton - Check to see if your laptop has Nvidia Optimus technology. It might say that you have an Intel HD gfx chip but you may also have an Nvidia card in there somewhere. My laptop uses the Intel HD gfx chip while on the desktop but in games switches to the "high performance" Nvidia chip. Check on your box or in Device Manager to see if you have an Nvidia chip in there somewhere that's not being used in games.

@SSTritton - And about upgrading your gfx chip in your laptop, it's a very technical procedure and you'd need to know what you're doing--I don't recommend it. RAM is the only thing the avg person can upgrade easily in a laptop. Upgrading the RAM to 8GB ***WILL NOT*** give you ***ANY*** extra FPS I'm afraid. Hope this has helped.

@Gam3Pr0digys: Yes, that's a good processor. I can't say for sure, but you'll likely see a 15-25% increase in FPS rate with it. 8GB RAM is good, but you will not see any FPS difference from that, just a faster system overall (tabbing in/out of games, opening files, etc.)
