So it has a top speed of 210 instead of 175mph. On a race track, I doubt it matters much. All that body work and extra weight in the rear probably messed up a previously nicely balanced car. I am curious what replacement he used for the transmission, though... rumor has it the V8 had to be de-tuned from 500+hp to 350 just because of the tranny.
'Johan, look at me asking you stupid questions...'
A lotus is made for cornering, not to make it heavier with NOS-tanks. That's for American cars like Corvettes. Too bad they didn't drive it on camera though...
You don't purge the nitrous to " get instant boost " you purge it to get the pressure down around 900PSI ( the solenoids don't like it much over that pressure)As well as clearing the vaporized N2o out of the line and liquid N2o into the line. He needs thermostatically controlled bottle heaters and remote opening valves. Think it would be much better off with methanol injection than propane injection.
Don't you think the segment would be better if it showed the car actually in action? It's just an old lotus sitting in front of rocks. What's the point?
I"ve seen this car in person, he had it at an import show in Denver. A lotus owner with a sport compact tuner mind set. I liked the twin HKS BOVs, no performance effect but not something you'd expect to see on a v8 Espirt. . I think it had garret ball bearing turbos but I didn't get what size the turbos were. He was a cool guy, he said though, at the time, he was having trouble with it, I think tuning wise.
actually purging IS for instant cold nitrous oxide, or instant boost. It does clean contaminantes that might be in the nitrous line out the first time you do use, but its really for the premium nitrous oxide being right at your solenoid when the solenoid opens up. The propane does work on cars the same as it does on diesels as a chemical intercooler. It chills the charge air by being extremely cold(-40F he said) and the fact it is flamible has to have some impact on the combustion im sure.
That´s true ! Those Renault UN1--027 -- V8 Gearbox used is the esprit coult NOT handle more than 400 HP ! If he run 700HP he must jave done some... :)
this guy spend so much and actually had the balls modify esprit up to 700hp, he will obviously have upgraded the trans with some bullet proof parts.

700hp + Renault gearbox = metallurgical calamity.
X180SE 3 years ago 7
700bhp is great....but when the mainshaft on the gear box only lasts about 20 seconds....it sort of nullifies the point of having 700 bhp
I don't even think the UN1 upgrade would sort it

You purge to get the trash and air out of the lines, not to get instant boost. Geez, BTW, I thought propane was just for diesels... hummm.

Wow 700 HP with NO2, Propane, and Turbo...how sad. I hope he never meets a 5.0 Mustang owner with $10,000 in mods lol

What about the transmission?
I´ve heard that the stock gearbox couldn´t take more hp than the standard 350 or so.
