I can't imagine japan being cleaner unless they actually scrub every single thing and everything is sparkling new. the thing is, their subway is maintaining itself in a good way. When it's crowded, middle-aged ladies literally push everyone else to get to the front. I've seen a drunk guy walking around a subway car in the middle of the day picking fights with strangers, I've seen a passed-out man literally piss himself... and just a few weeks ago a man started feeling up the skirt of the girl sleeping beside him.

When I visited Seoul last time, I noticed not only subway but also streets of Seoul were pretty clean. Cleaner than before. More trees, lots of beautiful flowers, well landscaped, less polluted air. I was pretty impressed.

yeah, subways in some parts of the US dont have turn stops so theoretically you can get in for free althought it's illegal. but they have people who patrol on random days and the fine is hefty if you get caught riding the subway without a ticket.

Considering how Seoul is much larger than New York, it's strange how much quieter it is. Maybe Seoul has more lines to ease congestion, or something like that.
I noticed that particular stations were busy/crowded but not others. The particular subway trains that I were on were made by Hyundai. (there was a plate in the top corner of the cars)

I can't imagine japan being cleaner unless they actually scrub every single thing and everything is sparkling new. the thing is, their subway is maintaining itself in a good way. I've been to Korea last Nov of 2010. All I can say is that korea is a tourist friendly country. I love all the tourist spots, nice people, love the food..I wanted to experience their winter, so I promise to comeback during that time.....gomawo!

@aes8423 I totally agree with you, theirs no soul(get it), no atmosphere to the place. i would rather take a dirty but more vibrant subway than a clean but sterile lifeless one. But much of Far eastern culture is like this, their taught to ignore their emotions to be lifeless workaholic drones, slaves tp the system for the betterment of their countries.

@TheDevineBeing Yes, because the culture is absolutely in the metro. The dirtier the subway is, the more vibrant the city is.. It really doesnt matter what you see when you step off the subway, if its clean and the people on it are sitting quietly, it HAS to be a robottown! =O Your comment just shows that youve never been to Seoul. That city couldnt be more alive or vibrant, full of culture, history or talent on the streets and in the theaters.

plus you have no idea when this video was taken. it may have been early in the morning, or maybe very late at night. either way theres a reason for it to be quiet then isnt there?
iv also got the underground tram in london many times, and its not always been "lively" most of the time extremely quiet too.

@equinoxranch That's pretty silly to judge an entire city's subway system based on a 2-minute clip. Obviously it's orderly because it's not crowded. When it's crowded, middle-aged ladies literally push everyone else to get to the front. I've seen a drunk guy walking around a subway car in the middle of the day picking fights with strangers, I've seen a passed-out man literally piss himself... and just a few weeks ago a man started feeling up the skirt of the girl sleeping beside him.

@lichtarbeiter Lol, I've lived in Korea for seven years and recently again for 2 months and the subways have gotten even better. Now there are automatic doors so people wouldn't fall on the railroad. Yea, the place gets crowded sometimes but I've never seen anyone get pushed or violated... maybe you just watched to many movies..

Anyway, I'm not complaining about the subways themselves, which are among the best in the world. I'm responding to the clown who implied that people on Seoul subways are *SO* orderly and well-behaved because there's no diversity in Korea. He should try going to Singapore, Hong Kong, or Vancouver, and tell me how disorderly they are.

It's that this line is 7 and I think it's not during the 'busy time'. If you go to subway line 2 during morning, then you'll find similar scenes. Though it's amazingly clean and high tec

When I visited Seoul last time, I noticed not only subway but also streets of Seoul were pretty clean. Cleaner than before. More trees, lots of beautiful flowers, well landscaped, less polluted air. I was pretty impressed.

there are grafitties, but for some reason, Koreans don't like using spray paint for their grafiti. rather prefers pens or scratching with sharp instruments.
there are beggars too, usually they pretend to be blind, and sometimes play harmonica or other simple musical instruments.

yeah, actually I was in korea, they don't talk much in the subway. sometimes they do. but I can remember hours in the subway without any talking, it is rude for some to even talk on the phone.

...no. you have to buy a ticket or have a transit pass and either feed the ticket into the turn stop or tap the transit card. ive never heard of free subways before. which country does that? i need to move there.

but the price is different depending on what station youre going to.and it wont work if you go off at the wrong station cuz the machine wont let you through and then you have to pay extra

yeah, subways in some parts of the US dont have turn stops so theoretically you can get in for free althought it's illegal. but they have people who patrol on random days and the fine is hefty if you get caught riding the subway without a ticket.

I noticed that particular stations were busy/crowded but not others. The particular subway trains that I were on were made by Hyundai. (there was a plate in the top corner of the cars)
