  • I collect games and I have FF 1-13 and the more I play them the more I hate them.

I remember watching my friend play the first one and I thought, wow that looks cool.

    How wrong I was.

What do I hate about them? Here's a list:

The characters, the combat and the stories.

This is completely my opinion and I don't expect anyone to like it.

Sorry if you don't agree with me I just hate any Final Fantasy game.

  • Sorry...you got a thumbs down from me. You had me until after FFVIII. You skipped FF9, the best in the series because.....well you didn't really give a reason. Then you move onto FF10, also one of the best in the series, and talk about how you're not into the fasion. You didn't mention the epic storyline, gameplay, graphics, etc. THEN....you go onto XII, and can't get enough video time bashing it. If you don't like XII, that's fine, but don't lie. You lied about SO many things in that game!

  • I gotta say you don't know anything about the FF franchise and you either want the company to stay stagnant and die or evolve overnight. FF* there are tons of ways to create and upgrade magic Ifrit will allow you make fire, shiva ice, and so on junctiong is a clever tool to boost your stats as the characters at their base are weak. But that speaks to the story the dependance on GF and the long term memory effects. Now with FF12 you have simply admitted you dont want to go in depth with gambits.

  • ... i liked 12...

  • ive played 12 and i thought it was incredible,. huge open environments, intresting places to explore, long adventure, good story that puts emphasis on lore and the world of ivalice, which had unique style that combined fantasy+furturistic+medieval+sorta-ish aztec together. i thought it was better than 7(fanboyz hate on me now). alot of people disgree wit me on this one. but 7 bored the hell out of me and the charecter models look worse than they did on SNES XD

  • FF VI is the peak of the series, they've never gotten as good as that.

  • I have to say that you did much of a great mistake by saying that XII battle system sucked, I mean, c´mon! that system put evrything FF ever was in one active constant style!

you complain about wait for a action or control the party at the same time, so there´s a new: GAMBITS, they´re used to program your caracther actions during battle, and in opitions you can put in active mode, turn off or not the gambits and battle constantly choosing actions whitout stop! stop hating n do fair judgement.

  • Nothing went wrong its still good.

  • @spennysee I disagree with you. Best one was VI, worst was XIII.

  • Uh... just cuz someone has long hair doesn't mean they're transgender or a female, and I'm pretty sure Zidane has a tail so you can tell he's not a human... cuz he isn't. I agree with you on FF8, but I think your complaint about FF9 is kinda dumb.

  • I loved FFXII..

  • Oh, I thought that I'm an oldfag. I was mistaken. This guy is much more an oldfag than me) I think that all parts of final fantasy are excellent, including old ones.

  • And oh yeah, in FF XII you can turn on an option that freezes the battle while choosing your attack/magic/item option.

  • FF8 was fucking epic.

I love this video. But your problem is.... Dont run out of magic in VIII:P

  • what about final fantasy 10-2 that was technically a legit game considering it was a spin off from the prequel. also in ff8 i hated how you couldn't just take money from an enemy you had to get paid a salary and if you didn't have enough money to do something important like leave a city, then you had to wait on your next salary but it would be less money because you didn't do anything while you waited. not to mention you couldn't buy new weapons you had to upgrade and you needed mags to do it.

  • say it yahtzee.......

  • LOL, it's true Zidane did look like a monkey noob..

  • Well, you seem to be very very bad at FF8, by end of disc 2, Squall had Lionheart, 8khp and hit over 5000 a normal hit...

  • @MakeusL00kB4D walkthroughs are for pussies

  • @TheTaskmaster who said i use walkthroughs? ive played through the game multiple times, i know how to get Leonheart disc 1, and i keep my guys low level so i have an easier time becase the enemies stay at low level.

  • @MakeusL00kB4D sorry for the assumption -- everyone does these days except me it feels like. i only look at one or two sentences to know what to do if i haven't played in a week or something.

i'm on disc 3 for the first time . . don't know what Leonheart is. A GF?

  • @TheTaskmaster its cool, Leonheart is Squalls ultimate weapon, i dont really remember how to get it its been to long. i think its Pulse Ammo, Screws, and somthing else. its a fun game too, mindraped me, alot

  • Did you even use the Gambit system in FF XII?

If you had, you'd hardly ever use the menu for controlling your characters and thus it acts a lot like a real time battle system. Just sayin'.

  • FFX , FFIX and FFVII best games from Final Fantasy series ever! And the fashion thing from FF X is simply stupid...

  • Final Fantasy X-2 had the best battle system of all the FF games. i think the future FF games should have that. if we get a VII remake, we should have X-2's battle system to go with it.

  • @NarutoFanBoyie I'm aiming towards versusXIII's battle system for that. X-2 was pretty gay, no offense. that game was a bitchslap to FFX

  • @TheBrotherhoodFilm Versus XIII isn't even FF-like. its more like KH. if i wanted to play something like that, id play KH. i like FF being turn-based. X-2 was mediocre, i wont lie; but the battle system was extremely cool. you could change your fighting style MID-BATTLE you could control your characters, two things i like about FF that XIII should of had. XIII had the Paradigm system, which was pretty cool, but i wish i could control my whole party.

  • @KirkAyask Haha.. bet you missed a lot of GF's then ;P

  • @Fmlad :

Nope, I got all of them. I don't use the "draw" command to stock my magics, but I use it to cast magics. But yes, there are some boss that you need to draw the GF from them.

  • @KirkAyask :) thats all good then hehe, i personally also prefer getting magic from cards though im sure there are a few you cant do this method, like aura... unless someone can tell me how you get aura without drawing?..

  • @Fmlad :

Yeah, I think there is like 2 or 3 spell in the entire game that really require the draw command to stock them. But its been a while since I played FF8, so I don't really remember witch one. I think there is one spell you can only get while fighting Odin, but like I said, its been a while lol!

(sorry if my english is not perfect)

  • Problems starting with 8

8: Draw system/ You're right here. Spending 20min getting one spell for all of your characters was terrible.

9: Character design/ Again you're right. The front cover with its goofy designs of the characters turned me off so much I din't play it until after a year it came out. Decent game though.

10: Some of the worst long and unskipable cut scenes.

12: Weak story and characters. Got to the second last dungeon, then realized i didn't care. Never bothered to play it since

  • The brief mention of FF9 had me lmao.

  • Wow, becuase clothing in FFX can ruin the gamenow.. -_-

  • lol FF2 was with the FF1 remake for GBA called dawn of souls, not trying to knock you or anything.

  • Fina Fantasy 6 is the best for me how can anyone forget " Wait he says do i look like a waiter?!" or Kefka's laugh "WOOT WOOT WOOT" Son of a submarine Final Fantasy sucks now!

  • Believe it or not, Zidane being a monkey-boy actually has significance to the story

  • What an awful assessment of FFXII's battle system. It's almost like you didn't really play the game beyond the first hour. Personally, I think it's where the Final Fantasy's battle mechanic needs to go. Seriously, what doesn't work concerning the battle system? You can use the gambits to help you streamline abilities and you can override gambits commands manually. Also, the complaint about you waiting doesn't make sense. It's system is pretty much the same as the ATB system in other FF titles.

  • The bad part about FFVIII wasn't the battles, it was the story and characters. It was the first time they went full retard with a story. You never go full retard.

  • Final Fantasy XIII wasn't any better.

  • I think a lot of people didn't enjoy FF XII because of the story and the dialogue. If you're into a formal setting with heavy changes in diction, then it can prove to be boring. I didn't like the story. The game-play was addicting; only because it was different. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. Gambits made the game too easy and proved to make the gamer lazy. So I think in having gambits, it might as well have been a regular turn-based, no control over your characters thing.

  • I enjoyed the Draw system for FFVIII. Though I agree it could be tedious, I generally had to collect 100 of the magic before I could move on. Granted, I rarely used magic unless I had to. So I agree in the fact that you really weren't connected to it by much other than the Junction system (which I thought was unique, if not reminiscent of the Materia system in FFVII). After all, Magic is just a tool. FFXII was fun but it didn't connect with me as a person. Too much of everything can be bad

  • @aerisred13 You just said my piece.

    I thank you.

  • i don't agree at all about FF12 tho that was my favorite final fantasy besides 7, the story was amazing and the main character was unique and the half turn based half real time battle system was kind-of jarring at first but once u get used 2 it i didn't mind it at all, i enjoyed that game....A LOT

  • @genestarwind7 I second this. I like the battle system. The only problem I had with it really was having a gambit system for the main charecter you played as, making the game play on its own and finding the espers not very useful.

  • i fuggin hated FF8 and FF9 ....i own and played the sh it out of both but ....*shivers* god they sucked

  • You obviously blew balls at FF8 also I don't get why so many people hate FF12, I am still enjoying FF12 to this very day. oh and.. I always thought that Zidane was an awesome main character.

  • lol you are very funny. :) idk I really enjoyed FFXIII, FFX, and FFXII...i didn't really get into FFVIII. It was kind of boring to me. FFIV was REALLY good, and FFI and II were okay. :) But my all time favorite is FFXIII...I love the battle system. ;) As good as everyone keeps saying FFVII was, I actually have never played it. It'd be great if they could remake it onto the PS3 because I cant seem to find it anywhere. :/ I really enjoyed your video! ;)

  • This is how the order went for me (Best-Worst) FFX FFIV FFVII FFVIII FFIX FFV FFVI FFIII FFXIII FFII FF FFXI FFXII
  • Final Fantasy VIII and IX are better games than VII, in my honest opinion.

You really do over exaggerate about VIII's draw/junction system, and Zidane > Cloud anyday :)

  • You obviously neglected the triple triad card game in ff8. If you weren't such a an idiot you would of realized the potential it brings. You can essentially become a god and destroy everything with ease. Unlimited magic, without even having to draw a single spell if you don't want. Along with the ability to do a limit break just by being at low HP made ff8 my favorite game of the series to date. I however completely agree with you on ff12. I hope they get their shit together sometime soon.

  • @DemonicGatsu well i dont remember ff8 too much all i know is alot hate the game i loved it for the limit breaks i think that added more of a fun factor along with the card game.I think people hated the storyline which seemed more romantic in a way and hated the emo squall.and the constant magic drawing which we all did i didn't mind this game but every game after final fantasy 9 i hated

  • I agree with most of the things u said especially the ff7 part (im in the second group of people). I think you exagerated a bit with the draw system i mean by the end you learn not to junction cure to your health and it was pretty easy to find an enemy with a certain kind of magic. I also quite enjoyed ff12 you dont really get a final fantasy for gameplay, you get it for an amazing story which ff12 had but i also enjoyed the gameplay.

  • Sway-doh

  • why does ever one person in final fantasy are named cid

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds like someone doesn't know how to play video games that well. If you can't figure out the simple junction system of FF8 and how to make your characters completely awesome and the fact that you don't even really NEED to use "fire" magic then I consider your whole opinion and video invalid.

  • FF9 FF8 FF10 Best games ever

  • BTW FF13 IS A PIECE OF SHIT

  • ff9 was great except for the main character...some fag monkey or maybe a saiyan?? ff12 was so so ..what really ruined for me was that you start with REKS which was cool not some faggot looking fucker...then bang in comes TOP FAGGOT VAAN ...FUCK!!! GODDAMNIT!!!.FFS!!

  • I thought FFXII was one of the funnest Final Fantasy I've played, simply because the game was so challenging. I mean, yeah, you could cheese the Marks and Boss' in this game by buying the broken Nihopeaela-whatever thing and just status bomb them with Remedies, rinse and repeat, but that was the only FF game I played where I was like "Wow... this guy is actually really hard..."

Plus, it's the only time in my memory that status effect magic in an RPG was actually useful, not just a waste of MP.

  • I actually liked everything from final fantasy 1-10, and the combat system in 12 was great, the ONLY reason I have yet to finish final fantasy 12 is that it is so damn boring!

  • 8's draw system never bothered me. I thought it was exciting when a battle would start just to see what magic the monster would have. X is where it went somewhat wrong for me. Like the other guy said, no exploration. It just didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game to me.

  • FFX is were the series went wrong, no world Map, No airships to control, there went the sense of exploration.

  • And btw. it is you luck that this video is YOUR own opinion. Because I would hit every time you open your mouth ^^ FF 1-10 were just great game, 6 was the best btw. ANd 12 was also a great game and it was essential that the ATB was made this way.

  • FF wasnt made for magic. Just use your attack button and limit brakes to kill every enemy. Not more not less ^^

  • I still rank Final Fantasy IX as one of the best games of all time.

  • in final fantasy 8 the enemies level up with you so if your fighting diablos on a really high level his hit points increase.

  • Final Fantasy 12 was an excellent game! Maybe it's because I use to play a lot of Final Fantasy 11 and this was kinda similar. It brought back the thrill of hunting down NM's without japenese player hording them all :)

  • you do realize you can synth magic after you level up your guardian force enough times right?

  • FFXII combat system is just ATB without random encounters. And Yes - IT FUCKING WORKS EXCELLENT.

  • uuuuh ur earlier comment made no sense in the beginning video.

  • Complaining about a feminine-looking male protagonist in Final Fantasy? Are you fucking serious?

  • @CobaltIsNotReal ya because he she monkey children are totally bad ass looking

  • @orbitaldeerhunter

I prefer the he-she monkey child to the brooding pretty boy faggots that everyone circle jerks over. The one thing that set Zidane out from the other protagonists is that he wasn't in full out emo mode.

  • Basically the video and comments is a huge opinion festival. I like all FFs equally. I don't try looking for flaws or comparing the newer games to older ones. I just play the game adapt to the new classes and fighting system. and beat the game+super bosses.

  • i strongly agree with your opinion on XII. when i first heard about a free fight combat system for FF i thought it was gonna be exactly like or very similar to that of the Kingdom Hearts Combat system

  • FF12 was a okayish game, it had 2 huge striking flaws

first was that it dint present its mechanics very well, which is doubly bad considering how different it was from other games in the series

the battle was not a real time beat'em up, gambits where not ways to set up a AI to play the game for you, license board was not a way to customize the characters, status spells are not a waste of mp

the 2nd was that it dint punish you to not understanding those, it only made the game really boring

  • I didnt really use magic in FF8 besides Cures. Magic in this game was pretty much used for junctions.

  • Love FF XII but it took me forever to get use to the fighting command thingy that you mentioned. 1st time playing it, I kept getting killed because the monsters attacked faster than I could command the characters.

  • FF1 awesome and a classic. FF2 Average/Unique FF3 BEST FF game and most fun FF4 Most Classic FF5 Best gameplay FF6 BEST SCENARIO and best rpg ever made FF7 ugly and best moment stole from Phantasy Star 2, FANBOYS CLINICALLY RETARDED. OVERATED FF8 Average rpg FF9 could be good if there was cool characters, sucks. Zidane LOL FF10 Rikku is hot. Not the game. FF11 Airship theme is awesome. FF12 That was a FF ? FF13 Adult children. Still want to bang the girls at least.
  • @BluBoulzor I agree bro

  • Final Fantasy XII is aamong my alltime favorite stories in all the final fantasy games. It needs to be made into a movie.

IX was also a favorite for it's story, atmosphere and gameplay.

  • anyone got the remake for ff7

  • i think ff 13 got a lot more hate than it deserves...The story is better than most ff games and most final fantasy games are linear. The final fantasy game that is the least linear is 12 and it was the worst (imo).

  • I feel that the series started to decline in quality after Final Fantasy X.

  • And how is V better than IV in this guy's eyes? IV actually had a story and good characters while V just... didn't.

  • @BuffaloaferN7 I'll probably get hate for this but I say V is better than IV because IV had a generic story and predictable characters but V had a decent story and an awesome job system and characters with little progression, but lots of depth and backstory. Plus there's just more to do in V.

  • @PrinceDotPoison That's fair. I think IV had better characters but the story was too... out there (flying to the moon on a whale?) And V had all around better gameplay.

  • Unfortunately for the reviewer it turns out FFXIII is worse than FFXII. Yikes!

  • FF13... why is there no villan or real story until 3 fourth's of the way thru the game...

IDK, the real-time RPG thing almost works. When you can juggle a boss in the air in an RPG and not let him attack, theres a problem.

FF13 was difficult, but the story was crap and I dare anyone to tell me what's going on because I was confused as heck!!!

  • @dracocrusher It wasn't a crap story if you play through it again you go in depth with all the characters, Its based off Religion and Government. Both Corrupt. The Main Villian is Barthandelus or as Cocoon know him "Primarch Dysley" The true focus of L'cie were to destroy Cocoon a monumental sacrifice to bring the creator to life, and in order to do this they had to destroy the Fal'cie "god or gods" and take Cocoon's ability to stay stable and sacrifice millions.

  • @dracocrusher The government's role was a simple one, Power overwhelming control over the populace, Purge everyone who came in contact with the non existant threat of Pulse. An ultimate Excuse for crowd control and false security. Even tho the L'cie were out to protect Cocoon, The Governing role of Sanctum wanted to destroy them and mark them evil to keep their hold over Cocoon. In the end it was The Fal'cie Dysley or Barthandelus pulling the strings so he could find L'cie strong enough to kill.

  • @Villiscaband1 but didn't Barthandelus want the l'cie to kill HIM?!?

honestly, it's the most over-complecated attampt at suicide I've ever seen...

  • @dracocrusher He pulled alot of him punches until he became was able to create Orphan that was what was needed to destroy the life force of cocoon and kill millions so the Creator would come back to life. But after they destroy him without losing control and turning into Ragnarok they were able to keep level heads and protect cocoon after Fal'cie dominion was ended in Cocoon. and so Every one left Cocoon to live on Pulse and The Government was no longer controlling them.

  • I think they should go back to the mideivalish style of the first six games

  • "Absolutely no connection with magic."

You obviously didn't understand the Junction system.

  • I agree either go completely live action, or stick with menus and lists to combine them both is only alienating your fan base

  • i love all ff's

  • seems like you are complaining just for the sake of complaining

i had to stop the video a third of the way through because it was getting too annoying

  • Sorry but that video was awefull...

To me you appeared like a raging nerd towards the end, with very little knowledge of games...

FFXII a hack and slash/beat em up/turned base game?

It's just a tbs with no more random encounters... Controllig the characters is like controlling them like in any other ff game, the only difference is that they are now running around (which doesn't really matter)

  • "I just hope that Final Fantasy 13 will learn from the mistakes of final fantasy 12."

FF13 pretty much slit the throat for my love for the FF series. I can't possibly see them making a redeeming game followed by that tragic shit.

  • @Cha1nL XIII wasn't that bad, the combat system was pretty fun because it actually took skill and not just grinding. The music was pretty good (best battle theme) but the story, characters, and linearity killed it. They can definitively redeem themselves, SE just needs to go back to their Squaresoft roots.

  • @BuffaloaferN7 all FFs are linear. ur an idiot if u think otherwise. if you think having a world map makes a game "open" when u cant access all of it til certain points of the or are too low to face monsters in areas u arent suposed to be yet then youre retarded. u have to go in one direction, to your destination to advance the story. linear. seriously smarten up.

  • @Antix I completely agree each game is linear, (except 12) but 13 really had nothing to do except the story and missions in chapter 11. Most of the others had some kind of extra thing like the gold saucer from VII or the hidden cave to get more powerful equipment in IV. But I do agree each one is super linear.

  • @Antix every game its linear cause every game has an ending u gotta see...

  • @Cha1nL And 13 was definitely on par with 1,2,3, and 5.

  • @Cha1nL ff13 was awesome. it was a mix of the last 3 ff games rolled into one. x, x2 and 12. it wasnt perfect but perfect games are few and far between. decent story, diverse characters.

it had an real time atb system and a job system. and while ff12 was "too hard" for idiots such as the maker of this vid who couldnt control 3 characters at once in real time even with the pause button or coudltn rely on the AI bambits square decided to streamline it and have the player control one character.

  • I did feel that the fighting in ffxii was pretty boring.

  • @MightyMartel I have to agree. FFVII has a special place in my heart because it was my first FF and it just got everything right. But FFVIII wasnt bad at all. I liked the story and the characters very much and the draw magic part wasnt as bad as described here. And the card game? TOTALLY AWESOME.

I have to agree on FFXII though, i didnt like it. Its not so much the combat system but the characters and the story for me. It just didnt interest me at all.

  • @clouds5 I liked XII because it was a departure from the series but it still had a lot of elements that I have come to love over the years. It just sucks because I got it from gamefly twice and didn't finish it. I really wish I could have finished it but I probably never will. It definitely didn't feel like a FF game tho and so I can't even really label as FF if I were to say which were my favorites and least favorite. Least favorite would probably be X-2 just because of how stupid it was.

  • @MightyMartel I never played X-2 :) I think it was just a feeble attempt from square to get some female buyers...

I had the same experience with XII i dont think its a bad game and trying to change and improve is never bad but i just didnt like the changes. Gameplay was ok. But the setting, the story, the characters --> 0% interest.

  • @clouds5 Yeah, they really have lost their touch at story telling and creating characters. I just wish it wasn't the case. I am still usually impressed by the scope and lore of FF games. Visuals are always great to look at too. I truly am a sucker for eye candy. I love FFXIII just because Lightning is this badass character with a badass sword and great hair and she jumps around and shoots you with her gunblade before she hits the ground. It's shallow but I love it.

  • @MightyMartel Sadly I dont have a PS3. I was thinking about getting one when FF13 came out but it wasnt worth it for me just for that game. Right now i'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii and i really have to say, they got the active Combat system that FFXII tried to do right. Story is very interesting too and graphics are very nice for a wii game, you should give it a try ;)

  • @clouds5 Lol I don't have a Wii but I wouldn't mind trying that game.

  • Comment removed

  • dragon quest was better

  • there is also a third group of peaple . this however is the smallest group of peaple. peaple who hates this game. i belong to this group

  • what are you talking about stan? the whole series was beyond bad. the only thing that was close to decent was the airship theme in the first game. overall the game series was the worst game worst series

  • This video = I DON'T WANT ANYTHING DIFFERENT EVER!!! MAKE ALL GAMES EXACTLY LIKE THEY USED TO BE WAHHHHH!!!!!

FFXII might be the best console RPG ever made, it's a shame this reviewer can't adjust his thinking one little tiny iota to appreciate it.

  • @joeshab123

LOL are u Kidding me? FFXII best console rpg? Don't make me laugh kid... that's just your opinion.. and btw it sux. That game was horrible... worst one yet in the final fantasy series next to FFXIII...

BTW i don't hate everything that comes out, first i try it out and play it... then i see if it sux.. and 12 sucked big time. i hated the main character as well ... wut was his name again Vann? or something, ya that guy was annoying as hell.

  • Final Fantasy 7 is still my favored overall. I heard that they're really going to remake it for PS3. I really can't wait.

  • this video and final fantasy VII review are dope

  • @lordalex82 No, not "period" - that "statement" is very, very, very debatable. There's a lot of other games people consider worthy of that title. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past / Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Bros 3 / World / 64, Final Fantasy VII / VIII / IX, Castlevania 4 /Symphony of the Night, Portal 1 / 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Goldeneye 64, Devil May Cry 1 / 3 / 4, Tekken 3 / 4 / 5, Mortal Kombat 9.... I can go on and on. Not saying I love all of these; but they are common candidates.

  • @kurvos

wow you added mortal kombat 9 to that list? i really like you men!!! FRIENDSHIP !! =D

but like you said...is debatable yes...and i can add Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2...but final fantasy VI ftw!!!

    period =D

  • @lordalex82 LOL XD "Friendship".... classic.

I personally am a 3D type of gamer. I do not think there's anything wrong with 2D games - but I simply feel more engaged and "in" the game when it's 3D. But I am a tad bit tired of all the superrealistic games of today - that's why I'm going to start collect PS1 games. In fact, I have never played FF8, and honestly wants to purchase it. I don't know - I love the style of it. It feels more authentic than all the other FF games.

  • @lordalex82 its a good game...not the best.

  • @dilt4

apparently 21 gamers disagree my friend =D

  • Fuck you! zidane is awesome! if you're gonna hate any character in FFIX, hate quina!!!!

  • @MrBeastschannel Hey Hey hey.... u no hate on Quina, Or a I beat you up an cook you.

  • When the games became more "realistic", they didn't start to make as much sense as they did. FF6 and FF8 are still the best damn games ever made, FF8 just introduced a new concept that literally confused all the fanboys, guy.

  • There's 2 kinds of people when it comes to FF7. There's people who think FF7 was better than FF6 and then there's people who can actually tie their own shoes, maintain steady employment and don't live in their parents basement.

  • FF7 is so far still my favorite, i havent exactly played it... but i understand it pretty well, but 5 was the best in terms of the job system to me...

  • Some of you are confusing your favorite game with what you think is the best one. My favorite is final fantasy 9 but I know final fantasy 7 is simply the better game. It had an unforgettable story and a cast of characters with the most depth I have ever seen in a game. That's why when someone asks me what's my favorite? I say final fantasy 9. When someone asks me what I think is the best final fantasy? I say final fantasy 7. Despite being overrated, I still believe it deserves the title.

  • I LOVE Final Fantasy but I'll 100% with you on FF12...but I still really enjoyed it.

And I know FF8 battle/magic system is very flawed but you really dont even need to use magic...and there are extremely easy ways to get it for junctioning magic.

9, 10....are my favorite games ever!! And I love Zidane! lol

  • 12 was interesting, flawed yes, the story was mostly forgettable. I dropped it around the time lapse.

  • Apart from ff7, I believe ff10 is also really overrated. the temple puzzles were bullshit boring, as was the grinding. The story romance was cliche. The male characters were quite lame as well.

I agree that 9 is better than 8, but I enjoyed the world a little more in 8. 7 is good but overrated as well.

  • I have the same Criticizm on final fantasy 8, you hit it on the dot

  • I have to disagree. My favorite FF is 8 and i just loved 12, loved that gambit system, just automated fighting, just loved.

And you clearly didnt finish FFXII, just reach at least to eruyt village, if there you gave up its ok, you didnt liked it... But the begining suck, as we have to press to attack on each battle.

As you progress you are able to specialize each fighter to various situation, just using you character being followed by a party that reacts the way expect.

  • In my experience it really comes down to which one you play first. Most people that love FF7 played it before any other Final Fantasies. Personally I played 9 and 10 before the rest and they are my favorite. When you're experiencing something for the first time and you really like it you are going to inevitably compare it to other games of the same vein. Because the games are all different you probably won't like another game as much as your first because its not the same.

  • Final Fantasy 9 is currently my favorite Final Fantasy game although I did think FF 7 was the best one for a long time. As I have recently replayed both games I have to admit that FF 9 is the better one.

Zidane is maybe not as great a main character as Cloud, but all the other characters make up for it. Especially Vivi and Steiner are brilliant characters that provide plenty comic releif and substance.

And the style as well as the music and graphics are all top notch. The most complete FF game

  • STAN BURDMAN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!

  • final fantasy 12 was actually pretty good. i mean yeah the realtime fighting thing was annoying sometimes and those target lines, but i love the fact that the world was huge and u could basicaly go explore where u wanted, instead of where the story takes u with closed maps, although u would just die, and the wide variety of monsters and missions. story was good but felt like u werent involved cos it was mostly about everyone else and not the main character. he was just there for the ride.

  • my favorite is and will always be 7

9 was ok but nearly as good.

  • The sigh for FFXII, most appropriate sigh ever. 8 I completely agree, it's a great game outside of the draw system.

  • heh Final Fantasy VIII drawing magic did get annoying but you just stick to drawing the strongest spells and you wont have to worry much. the (GF)Guardian Force was really nice diablos didnt have to have you mashing the square button

  • I admit that ff8 was awful in terms of combat variety. You had to stick to physical attacks or limit breaks because summoning is just plain shit, and magic is completely out of question due to junctions.

  • I liked FF12. To be honest, it did take a while to like that game purely because it is generally difficult to accept change, especially when you have already played an FF game beforehand that you loved with a completely different combat system. FF12 has its own style and still has good gameplay. But, FF is developed to suit different tastes. I personally hate FF13, but I know others would disagree with me, so...meh.

  • @Kittywhiskers1000 FF13 wasnt bad to me i never finished 12 because it was pretty hard when you dont understand the combat system or how to customize your characters but I learned it and I am playing through it again it is an amazing game! FF13 is Linear but the story and combat system once you master it is incredible! I loved it! actually there isnt one final fantasy i don't like.

  • 9 was my favorite final fantasy :P

  • @stanburdman I COMPLETELY agree with everything you've said from 1-6. Even 7. But I laughed sooooo hard when you mentioned final fantasy 8. Now, I never played it, therefore I don't have an opinion on it, but I have a close friend that is obsessed with Squall that I don't believe I should show him this video. That's why I laughed is because I was thinking "This guy's gonna get pissed XD"

  • The reason why Zidane (protagonist of FFIX) had a tail was that he was meant to be a tribute to Goku of dragon ball.

  • Your video was good. But i must say that YOU don't adapt well for games that have a "Whole new concept" in it. FF12 was kinda fun for me because i actually made the ATB and FTB useful to my advantage. And FF12 IMO is the longest FF game there is, and i'm not talking about long as in the story but as in the ENTIRE game (Hunts, quest, Espers, weapons, etc, etc)

  • lol, i thought your voice was pretty dull but i figure id hear you out since ive followed most of FF until atleast 10 but i think the video got better when you started rantin about FF8. i dont dislike FF8 but the enthusiasm and the "the magic system, oh god, the magic system" gave new life to the video

  • do a review on thrill kill

  • I love all the Final Fantasies. I can understand the old schoolers hating on the newer ones, when they have logical reasons.

  • I've enjoyed every Final Fantasy game. All the negatives shown in this video were silly.

  • so FF8 got a little more dificult, so thats why it sucks? cool.

  • The story for FF8 wasnt strong, it was like total bullshit lol FF7 got weird in places but at least you could understand it, FF8 had a woeful story. FF9 was enjoyable if you ignored how the main character looked. FF10+10(2) were fucking awful, the terrible voice acting with stories that were stupid. FF12 didnt annoy me too much but I definitely think the combat system needed fine tuning.

Long story short it all when down hill after ff7.

  • @theshak06 i think 7 was the cause of the series down fall.because it mainstreamed everything and brought in the anime crowd.which is why the stories suck now.9 was a jump back.but 10-2 hammered the series dead.(9 is my favorite of the ps era games.while 4 is my fav of the nintendo era.)

  • Stanburdman, I have seen reviews of tons of Videogame reviewers.

But you are buy far the worst and I mean THE WORST one i have ever seen!

P.S. I don't actually care about the Final Fantasy franchise.

  • but i liked 12 ...

  • FF9 FTW for me

  • I stopped taking this seriously the moment you said that FFXI was "not a real" Final Fantasy. I don't like the fact that FFXI and FFXIV are MMOs either, but suck it up. They are.

You contradict yourself a lot in this video as well. You praise the job system like the first two FFs had it. And the reasoning behind your hate of FFXII and FFVIII is poorly placed and ill-thought out as well. Many things you say you hate are actually pretty common in RPGs.

Oh, and monkey tail? Just play FFIX. Jesus.

  • This video and the comments of this video have made something very clear to me, I am a truly legit final fantasy fan, why because i have no problem whatsoever with any of the final fantasy games.

  • People who say final fantasy VI or below is the best are final fantasy hipsters.

  • Comment removed

  • Totally agreed. =]

  • How dare you call yourself a fan when you sit here and hate on half of the Final Fantasy games in the series. A true fan loves every single one for what they are and doesn't hate on them especially for the most trivial stuff like the draw system from FF 8, the battle system of FF 12 and the character designs of 9 and 10. You sir, are no true fan.
