The franchise is owned by Nintendo, everything about it and all of the characters. Rare is the company that made the DKC games and DK 64, that was their only part in the franchise. Microsoft now owns Rare. The Texas company that did this game is alright. They also did the new Duke Nukem game.

@felipe95951 many many many games feature a "heart system" but that doesn't mean they are all copies of eachother. DKCR is a fantastic game regardless of how similar it is to any before it. you obviously like it aswell or you wouldn't be looking up the music on youtube.
