  • I have a version to, but i don't see it here on you tube. Ther one I have is a later sterero version.

  • yes --- this is just AWESOME!!! I love this version ---- and I like the RCA version, too....

  • Gee, it took Ted three or four recordings and 14 years to get a #1 hit with this song. At least it finally worked for him!! Always been a favorite of mine. :)

  • Wonderful! I could dance around all day to this!

  • This is SO GOOD! Great version - I've heard the later versions by Ted Weems many times - this is GREAT! Thank you for posting!

  • Elmo Tanner (I believe) doing the whistling! Great song!

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the RCA version --- good tempo ---- and just better produced than the Deca version.....

  • Ah --- the nicer version. The Decca version of this song is just a bit slow.

  • Even after listening to this song hundreds of time over the last 70+ years, I still find it one of the most enjoyable things ever recorded. If I were asked to choose one recording and one only that represented the best of the popular music of the 1920s and 30s, I think this Ted Weems original Heartaches would be the one. The word classic may be overused, but this is a to my mind an absolute classic.

  • @jd03150 Strange, then, that Weems - or anybody else - never did another number in the same style. It wasn't typical of his band in any way but the whistling solo. ?????

  • @jd03150 I second that. Whenever asked what my favourite recording is, I answer without hesitation, "Ted Weems's original 1933 version of 'Heartaches.'"

  • I prefer this one to the later release. It doesn't sound right without the piano in the second verse.

  • Thanks for this "Heartaches"version.I just posted a video response of a January 1931 version by the Embassy Dance Orchestra on Crown 3044-B recorded in NYC and featuring the Dorsey Brothers and Eddie Lang.

  • This is the second version of this song. The one I have on tape from WJDA 1300 in Quincy,Mass.

  • This is the FIRST version, recorded in 1933. The other version, made in 1938 you can hear in related videos (TheLimePopcicle). It's clearly different from this.

  • I love it so much!! Thanks for posting!
