At best, this plan will merely postpone the collapse of the dollar. At worse, it will hasten the collapse, by driving up inflation to a point the world stops using the dollar as a default currency. So every time the market falls people rush to buy US Treasuries. To do this they need US dollars. The demand pushes up the value of the dollar. Watch the markets and you will see I am right. Prepping isn't such a bad idea, just an extra can or packet of what you usually buy each time you visit the store will soon build up. Iran is pressing ahead with its nuclear programme and threatening to close the straits of Hormuz if any sanctions are imposed, that will increase the price of oil. New leader in North Korea, US/Eurozone in economic meltdown etc. Buy the stuff little by little and rotate it as you use it, nothing wasted so money well spent, if it is needed.

At best, this plan will merely postpone the collapse of the dollar. At worse, it will hasten the collapse, by driving up inflation to a point the world stops using the dollar as a default currency. A balanced budget is the only first step we can take to stabilizing our currency. BOTH parties refuse to do this.

The U.S. might have worse economic issues because of their extreme, but debt is something nearly all governments of the world have today. So this central worldbank decides to play around with country's economies and the one to suffer becomes the people when the government is forced to cut down on welfare, consumerprices increasing, taxes increasing and what not.
And ofcourse in the 3rd world, people have been struggling to just put food on the table for decades.

If the ceiling had not been raised our country would have gone belly up and the fact is that we don't have anything to back up our currency and we are STILL spending it like water! You have it wrong. Inflation won't be the issue because the US dollar happens to be the world currency. If it wasn't you'd be right, but it is. So every time the market falls people rush to buy US Treasuries. To do this they need US dollars. The demand pushes up the value of the dollar. Watch the markets and you will see I am right. This is why gold, silver and oil, all priced in US seem to be steady or low since September 2011. Instead we will suffer deflation. Much worse like Depression.

Why do you want to save the stupid? Episodic calamities are the just natures way of thinning out the herd.
