too little attention for Deep Purple. I'm not saying DP was a metal-band, cos I don't believe they are (like Zeppelin), but Purple had a HUGE influence on any Rock/Heavy band that came after.
7:15 As much as I like Dio this clip made me laugh!! I'm sorry, but what with him shaking his fist at the camera like that he just reminded me of an angry dwarf! lol
@666thrashmaster Venom was considered a thrash metal band. Even the maiden fans at the time(like myself &company in the early eighties) considered Venom louder and heavier than most metal bands..
They mentioned Zep the mentioned Sabbath, but they never mentioned the one band that knocked spots off them all, Deep Purple. Typical stupid american made bullshit.
@scumgod13 deep purple didn't do shit? go listen to Deep Purple In Rock also Machine Head and Made In Japan and then tell me they weren't 1 of the most significant bands to the creation of metal
Led Zeppelin is a Hard Rock / Blues band, that maybe made some stuff considered heavy metal, but LED ZEPPELIN IS NOT A HEAVY METAL BAND!! thumbs up if you agree.. I'm sick of people saying LZ is metal..
@TheBeatles81 it is a heavy metal band, the frst heavy metal band indeed! Gosh u all r idiots! heavy metal transformed later discarding much of its blues influence. wat u think of heavy metal is about speed metal, thrash metal and mettalica, megadeath and all. just listen the middle section of ''babe i'm gonna leave you'' and theremin section of ''whole lotta love' u'll get the idea. they key part of heavy metal is heavy drumming, distorted guitar and wailing vocals, which zeppelin was all about
@ozair16 It's true that Led Zeppelin is the beginning of Heavy Metal, but it didn't exist in those times, that why it isn't heavy metal, it's considered "Early Metal", and the early metal is the way it all began, but it wasn't metal though... That's why I hate people saying LZ is metal, because they consider metal as screams and noise, and as I said, LZ is not a metal band. This is hard rock!
@TheBeatles81 it did exist actually, the term ''heavy metal'' was coined in those days by some editor who wrote a review of jimi hendrix's gig,. heavy metal is characterized by loud distorted guitars, emphatic rhythms, dense bass-and-drum sound, and vigorous vocals. led zeppelin was blue print was future metal bands. wat u consider metal is another othe stylistic origin which discarded blues influence. mettalica, dave grohl have al admitted tht led zeppelin was the frst metal band
@TheBeatles81 i beg to differ, recent poll on rolling stone magazine, ranked Led zep 8th among best metal band of all time, believe it or nt, it was the heaviest band in early days, its all about how u define metal.
@TheBeatles81 Okay, but in 1969 stuff like Whole Lotta Love was heavy metal, it didn't get much heavier than that at the time. You should consider that for a second
Funny how Judas Priest never get the credit they deserve. They were the bridge between Black Sabbath and everything done in the 80's, much more important than Iron Maiden or Mötorhead in the development of Metal music.
@DavidDavidsonful I wouldn't say Judas Priest was more important than Motorhead, Judas Priest brought the speed, Motorhead brought the punk, together speed and punk made Thrash and pretty much every other extreme Metal genre. Both are definitely more important than Iron Maiden (imo), but they're probably the same level on the importance scale. Judas Priest does deserve more credit than they get, though.
@ThazuaBlackarrow Iron Maiden became mainstream before Judas Priest with "The Number of the Beast" album in 1982. British Steel in 1980 never hit the mainstream(radio) like did Iron Maiden in 82'.. They, Maiden, were just as , if not more , significant to the rise of Heavy Metal exposure in the eighties. That goes the same with Mtorhead.
When i met my wife, she was a mainstream music bitch with no idea about metal or music and tried to offend me with "only a few losers around the world knows who "Motörhead" is." I tought to myself "Well we´ll see"... Today she realises that metal is real music and about people caring about the music and their creativeness, and the ability to play an instrument and not caring more for how they look on stage and in videos. The cure? Live Conserts & fun!
I just laughed and felt very very angry, all at the same time.... you're calling Led Zeppelin, the band which is probably the most diverse in terms of genres, boring? This is coming from a person who could find no better YouTube name than "john" followed by some numbers?
I'd say that "Highway to Hell" was more relevant than "Back in Black", not just because it was Bon's last, but it had the real heartily tone that many musicians would be inspired by in years to come.
ya think the term 'heavy metal' would be attributed to Led Zepplin, for their name is a homophone for 'Lead' a heavy metal??? I made that connection when i was a little kid.
@xRockandMetalx don't just talk out of your pipe hole....metal is a term used in england to classified bands like sabbath, priest, ufo, and even ac/dc and leppard,,,,,is not how fast or evil you sound....
ok, so there are no great american heavy metal bands...ok, so i guess slayer, metallica, megadeth, anthrax, testament, exodus, death, and cannibal corpse, were all just mediocre than..makes sense
@Selecta88 no offense but i don't think there are any "GREAT" american metal bands. the english accent is very daunting which probably gives the heavy sound
@atomicmusic71 .... metal wouldnt be important if the genre before it wasnt around, and so on and so on. it just traces back through inspiration. so dont even say that dude. idk how you got thumbs up. just dumb ppl. hopefuly you understand what im pointing at though.
