  • At the 4 min mark...dave chappelle on drums!

  • tres personas no tienen cerebro por lo que veo

  • This is KILLER but Magic Sam's boogie is my choice between the two. Luckily I don't have to make that choice. Also, anyone else hear just a ton of this in ZZ Top? "I met alot of nice girlz ah..."

  • Freddie !

  • I used to have a bass cabinet like that bassist. It was a W cabinet w/18" Badass speaker.

  • love it

  • he's workin that groove!

  • dude behind king look's like snoop dog :D 2:02

  • That shit makes me smile. Freddie new how to groove like few others...

  • My brother and I met Freddie King in the lobby of a Travel lodge motel in Austin Tx after having seen him in concert in Nashville with The Charlie Daniels band Grinderswitch and the Marshall Tucker Band less than a month before. He was so nice !

  • I heard Clapton called Freddie to teach him this tune, but Clapton has always & still is been on the shirt tail of the hottest thing going......

  • Now That's Rockin Blues ! Thank you Texas Cannonball ! Passed in 1976. R.I.P !

  • la gente re mala onda se quedan ahi parados.. si eso fuese en Argentina la gente estaria como loca! excelente tema.

    Love it !!!!!!

  • Freddie King got some recognition but not nearly as much as he should have. The name he used onstage hurt him a lot, since everyone confused him with B.B. King. For a big man, he was incredibly quick and nimble on that guitar. One song his band did sounded like one of the most brilliant harmonica reverb riff solos of all time, hitting every blues twist and turn perfectly. Then you later realize there was no harp player - it was all Freddie on guitar!

  • The man is an original. saw this band in 1975 or 1976. He was really something live. He didn't disappoint like some legends can. This band is a killer. Listen to the guitar sound kids! No effects. Just a Gibson 355 and a Fender quad reverb.

Eric Clapton wanted to be him. He scared the crap out of most other blues guitarists.

  • swoody i dont mean to sound rude either but i dont remember ever hearing or seeing you perform anywhere writing orignal songs or being remembered as being a rock /blues ledgend

  • @wwashta

I don't profess to be a blues rock legend in any way and never have done.. I do however play in a number of bands; writing, recording and performing original songs, as well as covers, blues and rock alike, as well as teaching guitar.

Even if I didn't, what is wrong with trying to give a fellow guitarist some advice? I tried to make it clear that it wasn't my intention to be rude. I was giving what I thought was helpful advice, and advice that I stick to when teaching.

  • Hole Lee Shit! Wow!

  • Greatest blues player ever. What a tone!!

  • hardcore blues by one of the kings

  • whe like it the haircuts are beauthiful and the guitars great wonderful

  • eh,point taken, tom,my wife complains about it all the time.

  • jukeboxjiveuk, I don't, think, I've,ever, seen anyone use,so many, comma's, in a single sentence.

  • that drum solo was awful!! haha what a stain on such a fantastic freddie king song!!

  • これも歪んでないの???

    さすがにこの音ゎ歪んでるやんな???

  • I wonder if Freddie ever won any awards for longest shirt collars?!

  • he's the Texas Flyer.....hence the winged shirts!

  • @slapbackslim yes, they certainly are long

  • @slapbackslim ,

Probably , if Chuck Berry didnt beat him out.,, ;)

  • @slapbackslim lmao good one

  • @slapbackslim

    They could be wings!

  • Blues Band Shuffle is in some way alright, but the name of the song is Boggie Funk. (Boogie) Sorry He passed away so early (only 42). Anyway greetings from Sweden

  • Totally amazing high energy, intense blues guitar. The bass player was Freddie's little brother (probably half-brother). It's cool how he moves the bass neck out of the way for Freddie to get by and leave the stage at the ending.

  • Hot damn! That's some awesome guit-playing!

  • We in Sweden were not at this time spoiled with this GREAT music. Just look in peoples faces-they are in state of chock !!! Long live Freddie King.

  • Fries with that shake...

  • Freddie King playing live in Sweden.

When you look at the audience you wonder: Is there life in Sweden?

  • Is there life on Mars? Don't think so.

  • This is ff-ing awesome!!

  • grrrrreeeeeaaaaat drum solo. fucking tight that is

  • II AGREEE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • uh, they're in sweden...

  • but they seem barely alive, wherever they are ...

  • one bad mo fo

  • 2:36 - 3:15

Who needs the rest of the band? ha

  • That's great! :) Tnaks for uploading it.

  • WHOO!!

  • Freddie! Pop that collar!

  • boogie funk!!!

  • Freakin' Groovie...I love Texas Blues and Freddie King was the master of Texas Swing Blues.

  • Could ya imagine if `ol Festus woulda had this to listen to when riding ol Ruth !!!

  • wow big man can bring it

    so

    cool

i had no idea, did you?

  • Magic sam ripp off! nicely done

  • I love the audiences reaction at the end LMAO they don't know wether to shit or go blind! The Swedes at that time never heard of Yankee Blues before :-P

  • Maan you can see where Billy Gibbons got his influence from bigtime for ZZ Top

  • Kewl.

  • Fuckin` awesome!

  • this guy is good

  • this is Steam-rolling....

  • Smooth and steamy... lovely!

  • The Band members looks a bit scared..

You would be too. Back then you got life for one seed.

  • loook there on the keyboards!! - ITSA MEEE, AFRO MAARIOO xD

  • this song has got a special kind a groove a kind that only a true master of the blues like Freddie King can make

  • That is Deacon Jones on B3...

  • Saw Freddie King 1973 or '74 at a club. SRO and I was @ 5 feet away from him. Its 35 years later and I still remember the emotion and intensity of that performance. Never seen anything like it, before or since.

  • this video and song made the BIG LIST, best 100 new music from youtube and myspace. First world list of new music.

  • that is the Grooviest organ player I've ever seen maan! this song blows me away...

my 2 guitar idols right now:

    1. Jimmy Page

    2. Freddie King

  • Gooooood! So jazzy !!!!!!!!!! He was admired by Eric Clapton too.........by his "The Autobiography".

  • An audience of very educated dead people.

  • and John Peel.

  • Comment removed

  • what guitar exactly is he playing ?

it's a 335-style gibson for sure, but i've never seen one with this headstock before. it's beautiful.

  • It's an es 355.

  • oooh right, didn't see the vibrato. thanks !

  • Old school baby !

  • Nothing like a little Texas boogie! You can hear Freddie King and Albert King all thru SRV's playing. It's all about HOW you play the notes, and how you interject silence, not about playing as many notes as possible.

  • The Band members looks a bit scared..

  • He is one sexy man.

  • Can't wait for shirts with those collars to come back into fashion... I'll get me some !!!

Give me any of the Kings I love em all. Freddie knows how lay down some rhythm.

  • could someone please tab out the part from 1:04 to 1:14

  • I don't mean in any way to sound patronising or rude, but try working it out for yourself; It's only three notes that he's playing, it'll just take a little time and a little trial and error and you'll get it! It'll also help get your ear into working things out, and it'll then be easier to work out other stuff.

    Good luck!

  • swoody ....sorry but no way around being rude .. u r a fool

  • Erm.. Why??

  • because this isn't the slightest bit jazzy.

  • @swoody89 >>>Whoa now! Three notes in the 'right hands'. Anyone can sit and work it out, but who can execute the soul and the groove?

  • @coonboy75

Well I know! No-one can ever get Mr King's groove and attitude of course

  • @swoody89 it just aint the same without a backing band and an afro

  • FREDDIE KING IS THE TOP MAN.

  • Yep, that's Deacon Jones.

    I guess he didn't tow along his GREEN B3 with D E A C O N in applica//address letters on that tour!

  • I saw Freddie King once when he was one of the opening bands for Creedence Clearwater in the early 70's. Now I know where fogerty got the inspiration for Keep on Chooglin.

  • Smokin'!!!!!!

  • He could put an eye out with that collar...great clip

  • I don't know what I like better-his guitar playing or that shirt with the ginormous collar.

  • OMG that is the wildest and most enjoyable drum solo i'we ever heared! Not too complex, but RAAAAW!!

  • Freddie King showed everyone how it was done.

  • Classic. Now you know where ZZ top got the Riff for La Grange.

  • Actually, the "La Grange" riff is way more in the style of John Lee Hooker than it is Freddy King.

  • as you wish. I'm sure JLH influenced Freddy as well. Thanks for the reply

  • Have to differ with you on that. This song and La Grange have more of an Texas boogie feel than John Lee Hooker's Mississippi Delta blues. Similar, but a little different.

Freddie King and Billy Gibbons - both from East Texas.

  • blues is blues is blues is blues. L

  • The song is called "Boogie Funk"

  • what a tone...sound of that guitar is so f'ing heavenly!!!!

  • Where come this phenomenon from !?

  • Sangiovannioo9 asks? Where come this phenomenon from !?

The Lone Star State of Texas, that's where!

  • is this on dvd does anyone know? its the biz... top banana

  • rory & zz been listening to this you reckon?

  • check out freddie son on a video called BB KINGS MUSIC/ALBERT kings lyrics

  • Looks like a young Lionel Ritchie on the B-3.....Freddie rocked hard and with precision like no other and moved R&R forward as much as Chuck Berry did.....Just didn't have the PR. Really a fantastically talented musician! Thanks for posting!

  • I really think the B3 player looks like Deacon Jones!... The hair is than todays, thats for sure... :-)

  • you can see where Texas Blues by Gary Moore came from. Some great playing in here.

  • JJJJJJJJJEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZUUUUUUUUSSSSS!!!! How tasty! what a loss!

  • great!

  • freddie used silver faced twins and deluxes as well as whatever was available.....this is a boogie not a shuffle.....and a fine piece of work...

  • sometimes? always man!!!!!!

  • Wonder what amp he uses, and how he gets the sound? I think he and Chuck Berry sometimes has an incredible good sound.

  • well it looks like a fender twin reverb (60s black face) or something like that. Maybe a smaller one because he can get a natural OD, very hard to get it on a twin. Chuck Berry used fender amp too.

A good Gibson on good fender amp : what a hell of a sound !!

  • Maybe a deluxe then. Read Chuck used showmans in som part of his career, which I suppose were very load and clean too, just like the twin. Well, some in depth geartalk with those 50s and 60s bluesmen would be nice.

  • i love that drummers style man, everyone in that band is just groovin.

  • im just reading Clapton's autobiography (didn't really know much about him..im at the part where hes just started Cream...and man he mentions freddy king and howlin' wolf a lot.) gives me a lot of confidence seeing how he went from using a crap acoustic with no sheets er tabs to a legend. along with all these legends.

  • hot damn!!

  • Hey Mackmanblue, DIT TOE!!!!!!!!!

  • Freddie almost caught on fire on this tune!!

    Thanks for posting this

  • Thx!

  • It's called "Boogie Funk" (seriously).

  • What is this sang called? i just love it :D

  • if freddie wasn't such a big man he might of took flight with those wings on his shirt.

  • freddie is the best anyone who thinks differently is gay

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • boogie with a capital woogie!!

  • finnaly i know da name of that piece of joy

  • OOHH Maaaann , got a chill straight off, now thats boogying guys !!

  • wooooo good lord Freddie!!!

  • yeah...Richard Pryor on organ...Haha. But Whatta zombie audience!

  • It's actually 'Rollo' from "Sanford and Son" bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

  • Now that is the blues. Freddie king is awesome! Is that Richard Pryor on the keyboards? ha ha

  • Freddie King :) Very fun to watch and love his guitar playing!

  • my couch is rocking is yours???

  • Freddie knows how to boggie!

  • A Gibson Guitar never sounded sweeter when it is in the hands of a true Blues Master like Freddy King. If I had to listen to just one guy for the rest of my life, I would be very happy groving to Freddy King.

    (Shuggy1110/ Blues Drummer.

  • Wow, god bless Freddie King and Youtube. I feel blessed to be able to see this.

  • Amen to that Bro!!!

  • He's got more bounce in his pinky than most bands can ever muster up today!

  • Every Christmas, you hear about the "Three Kings." Well, to me the "Three Kings" are B.B., Freddie, and Albert!!!!! Fuckin A bubba!!!!

  • somewhere theres some poor child watching an Akon video instead of this.

  • Haha. That's funny. :-D Akon just wishes he was Freddie King.

  • those fuckers destroiyed music all of them trying to get hot chicjks and more money. there sjhould be great dedication, god doesnt hhelp otherwise

  • Amen. Couldn't have said it any better.

  • man do i love the live version. it has more feel without the horn section.

  • BOOGLE KING

  • I love t boogie,,, Freddie's got the music in him.. Stand Back!!

  • it sounds like Mean Town Blues to me without the lyrics

  • I just can't stop laugh at the faces he does in the beginning!! SOO COOOLL !!

  • spettacolare!!!

  • the master of the groove

  • Freddy and Magic Sam Hung out alot and you can see how the both used eachothers licks cause this is basically the same as sams "lookin' good aka magic boogie" and hideaway is the more successful version of Sams "Camel walk". Five stars excellent vid and excellent playing!!

  • FANTASTIC FREDDIE AT HIS BEST

  • grande,anzi grandissimo,

     e' unico.
