hi, hope I'm not bothering u but i just wanted to ask you a quick question, how do you get your lines on sketchbook to be so black and smooth because on mine i have to keep on going over the lines to get thin nice and dark its really annoying!!!! plz help
Hey do you know how to change the eraser , when I use my intuos4 eraser end the eraser is set to the hard one, I'm a photoshop user situate whom having trouble with it
Yep Great Tablet (probably the Best make for sure), but if your on a Budget and still want size! I'm selling one on eBay UK (leck865) thats affordable - 19" 1 day left on auction
Hey nice vid,I have a question, when draw with your Wacom intuos 4,how can you see where are you going with your pen?I mean you can't see anything on the tablet, but you can on screen,so how do you know where you have to draw with the pen?Does it have a button or something you gotta hold to draw or something?
@lucija123451 If the pen is hovering close over the surface you see the mouse pointer on your screen. The pen touching is either drawing or a left click.
from your experience what size wacom 4 tablet is good. and is it really necessary to have a wacomtablet that has a display directly on it so you can see directly where you are drawing or ist that overkill?
@lolanubislol I purchased the "Large" Version, big enough to wave my hand left to right for lines work. Just to let you guys know, I did purchased a Cintiq 12wx, I'm in love with this thing. I have always had trouble with making the connection to screen to tablet, but working on the screen is so much accurate and flows precisely.
Great vid. If someone can help me out with this I'm thinking of buying one but can it work with Photoshop cs2 and illustrator,Adobe Indesign, and adobe Acrobat? I mostly use Photoshop though. My laptop is old, it's a PowerBook G4. Thanks is advance to whoever replies.
@MrMultiThingz As PHW has already stated, becoming a 3D artist and the like is a good way to make money. Depending on who you work with and your position, you can make a killing. 6 figures, easily, if you're leading the other artists and what-not. It's something you'd have to work at, though. That's for sure.
my intuos 4 doesnt let me rotate my canvos in adobe photoshop or autodesk how do i program it to do dat? all it can do is zoom and change the size of a brush but when i press the middle of the wheel and go to rotate it doesnt rotate

@Kapo465 Considering my trade school just hit me with $500 of extra cash, I'd totally have bought one. However: I have to work in a small space and I'm not exactly bothered by the lack of an eraser; the Capture will work just fine for me.
@lolsa123 Email me anytime at Jacque@9dkid.com As for the pens, I tend to stroke from point to the end of my line, over and over again as smooth as possible.

@FreakyBow even tho u cant see ur drawing directly on the screen of your tablet, it shows on the computer screen, and the mouse is wherever your pen hovers.
Im thinking of being a medium size Intuos 4 but one question, is there an image on the tablet? cuz the reviews I've seen there's no image, how can you draw without looking at the drawing?
when i draw with my wacom pen, the drwing goes down the screen, like if i want to draw an eyes for a face the eyes drews out of the head, can some one give me a solution, cause i uninstal it yesterday and reinstal it and it worked wonderfully, today i opened my computer to draw, the same problem happened again all over! can someone help me?
I just started using sketchbook pro. could you please tell me what size u set your image to and what brush type (pencil?) you use. my sketches look too low rez compared to yours
@almer24...do you wear a glove or anything when you use the intuous 4?....I have an intuos 4 and my hand skids on the tablet causing my lines to look choppy....it drives me nuts.
@spantoO São softwares para propositos diferentes. Sem falar na diferenca de preco. O SBP custa 50 dolares, enquanto o PS 3000 reais se nao me engano...
@SmileLyubov Autodesk® SketchBook® Pro paint and drawing software enables you to transform your desktop computer, laptop, or tablet PC into the ultimate sketchbook. With professional-quality sketching capabilities and an intuitive interface, even new users can be productive within minutes.
@TheKkcool123 The Intous 4 are the best desk tablets by far from Wacom. Lots more Pressure to them. You will like the tablet very much. As far as programs, Sketchbook in very inexpensive and easy to learn, why I am recommended it. $40 dollars. You should be able to pick it up and start creating nice art. If you have money to burn later, you can always check out Painter and Photoshop.
@ZzTzZyt When it comes to PC's, you might want to research ones built for doing graphics. Either DIY machine, or prebuilt ones. You can always check Newegg to find something that fit your needs, but a good graphics card, ram, and a nice fast processor can get you far.
@Caswick92 Sketchbook Pro is very smooth, responsive, and quick when it comes to painting(and the price is right). With the addition of the newest brush library in the latest version, it brings a broader range of painting, marker rendering and pencil rendering. But I wouldn't call it a replacement for any of those programs. But who knows, as the program evolves...you never know.
@alymer24 Ya it looks alot easier to use compared to Corel Painter which i have. Painter is fairly complex and im looking for some more simple, I'll keep Sketchbook in mind. Thanks :)
@Sllvlloov The program Sketchbook Pro has a rotate Canvas function. So I don't rotate the canvas physically.... but I have tried... didn't work out so well.
is there a new wacom tablet coming out soon?? i dont wanna shell out hundreds of bucks on a large one just to see a better one just next year and this one get chopped in price because of it, any info would help thanx! im leaning towards the intuos4 large tablet, and also, anyone know where its cheapest?
@jackprkins I doubt a new version is coming this year, but I'm sure next year there will be a new one. I got my Large on Amazon.com. It was the student edition which is basically the same one as any other edition for less price.
@jeehoondevil if your only a beginner, the bamboo because its simple and super easy to use. but if your used to digital art, the intuos4 because it has WAYYYY more options to choose from
@Starcaster2124 I agree with everything you said. If you are starting out, not to much into doing digital art, Bamboo is recommended. But if you want to dive in to some serious fun business, Intuos 4.
@d3m3ntaL Response time is decent and holds up well with documents even up to 4k. I know some people have trouble when rotating the canvas and drawing cause of there graphics performance, so there is some slow down. But i'm sure if you got a decent present day machine with some good ram and gfx card your good.
@alymer24 so it depends mostly on my machine!? and what do you mean by decent res time, is it something ill notice much as a first time tablet user? 4k thats 4000 of what, mb kb?
im really sorry if im bothering you but i really want to buy this tablet and i need as much information as i can get! btw - honestly im not sucking up, great work on that pic!!!
@d3m3ntaL I wont go into details on programs(I assume you wanted here about Sketchbook pro), but the tablet. As far as being a beginner or even a pro, you wont or shouldn't notice bad response time at all on the Intous 4. 4k means the size of the document. 4000, that be pixels, inches, etc. You'll be happy with the Intuos 4 and how smooth it feels and works with any art program. Drawing curves, lines, circles all feel at accurate timing.
@glassryu Check your sensitivity in the Wacom Tablet Options. Plus in SBP, add opacity on the brush your using, and test out the pressuring by pressing soft to hard as you make a stroke.
Very nice!!! I Got a question: I saw you rotate the page, how did you rotate all? Because when i try to do this, SBK will rotate only the active layer
@Ammon6 Check your preferences. Make sure the Enable Rotate Canvas option is clicked on. The shortcuts are [ ] to rotate, on a mac I'm not sure what the shortcuts are.
I have an intuos3 6x8, im new with the sketchbook pro and im going mad trying to rotate the canvas when i am working on more than one layer. For example if i work with two layers, i try to rotate the canvas but only the layer im working on it rotates. I see you have the background sketch and all the layers rotate...
@eduki Hmm.. you are using the "[" and "]" and/or using the little gadget that pops up when you press space? Are you magic wanding something in your layer??
@alymer24 Hello again...I´m using that tool with the arrows, when you click on it, you can scale, rotate or move. If i try the options, only the selected layer can change. And no, im not using magic wand on the layers...
I think is important rotate, scale or move all the layers at the same time, but i cant find the way!!! but when i saw your vid, i know you can do it!!!
@alymer24 thanks again, alymer24, but when i go to preferences/activate rotate canvas, i found a restricted side on the tool for rotating. If i move it, the layer im working on, rotates from left to right, like when you want to change the side of a face (looking right or looking left)
Anyways, only the layer im working on changes, not all the layers.
Can you tell me the steps you follow when you want to rotate all the layers at the same time? im curious and starting feeling like silly!
@eduki alymer24 FINALLY!!! i did it! these are the steps i had to follow.
First, activate rotate canvas on panel. Then close app. Then open again, and move the whole canvas using 9 and 0 keys (i dont know why but [ and] keys dont work for me on my imac.
@DaveSimkus I wasn't aware of the nub issues(if there is one), nor have looked up any testing. Thankfully you do get extra nubs with the Intuos 4(hidden in the pen stand).. Even with the Intuos 3, I went through 2 nubs in its lifetime.
@DaveSimkus The short life is a myth. The thing that is most likely to wear out first is the surface on the tablet. You can always buy replacement surfaces. I have had my Intuos for 6 months and have only went through one nib.
This has to be probably the smoothest freehand inking ive ever seen.. It looks like you feel very comfortable with the Intuos4. Im still trying to get used to mine.. was thinking about getting a cintiq. mybe it would feel more natural.. then i see this and am like.. NA.. ill stick with what i have..
What are you using to get such smooth, long curves? I'm a designer who has used Photoshop / Illustrator for years & I just purchased Sketchbook Pro. I'm enjoying it, but I encounter the same problem I have for years--long curves require either french curve stencils or some sort of auto-smoothing tech. I'd rather not go back to Illustrator to ink with bezier curves, so I'm wondering what tool/options you used for inking this. (PS: I have an older intuous)
@RockMSockM7 Here is what I notice with my old wacom 3 and my new Intuos 4, it feels very smooth to the point where curves feel more accurate. Obviously with a steady hand, the amount of pressure points in the intuos 4 shows, hence this little test.
@alymer24 I see... just out of curiosity--what tool within sketchbook are you using to ink? I'm not sure I can tell--is it a custom brush, or one of the defaults? And yes, my intuos is fairly old--I'm not particularly happy with the "plastic on plastic" feel of drawing- has the surface changed with version 4? PS thanks for answering!
@RockMSockM7 I am using the pencil tool on a 300dpi document with a pencil size varying from 1.0 to 4.0. The surface has changed, i think its a little bit more rough compared to the intuos 3, but overall feels great.

@alymer24 thanks man, you really helped!

i'm also using an intinuos 4 but i can't get my line to taper like yours any suggestions
glassryu 8 months ago
@glassryu Check your sensitivity in the Wacom Tablet Options. Plus in SBP, add opacity on the brush your using, and test out the pressuring by pressing soft to hard as you make a stroke.

alymer24 Tank you!!!! For time spent to respond.
I'm a very very rookie in SBK, and i was thinking why it's not possible rotate everything, instead of rotating only the active layer content.
I get it!!
Tanks again!!
Regards!!
P.S. : your drawings is great, i hope to learn from you.

Hi!
Very nice!!! I Got a question: I saw you rotate the page, how did you rotate all? Because when i try to do this, SBK will rotate only the active layer
Ammon6 9 months ago
@Ammon6 Check your preferences. Make sure the Enable Rotate Canvas option is clicked on. The shortcuts are [ ] to rotate, on a mac I'm not sure what the shortcuts are.

Hello, alymer24, i loved your video!
Could you explain to me how can i do it?
Thanks a lot ;)
eduki 11 months ago
@eduki Hmm.. you are using the "[" and "]" and/or using the little gadget that pops up when you press space? Are you magic wanding something in your layer??
alymer24 11 months ago
@alymer24 Hello again...I´m using that tool with the arrows, when you click on it, you can scale, rotate or move. If i try the options, only the selected layer can change. And no, im not using magic wand on the layers...
I think is important rotate, scale or move all the layers at the same time, but i cant find the way!!! but when i saw your vid, i know you can do it!!!
eduki 11 months ago
@eduki Check your preferences. Make sure the Rotate Canvas option is clicked on. This should work.
alymer24 11 months ago
@alymer24 thanks again, alymer24, but when i go to preferences/activate rotate canvas, i found a restricted side on the tool for rotating. If i move it, the layer im working on, rotates from left to right, like when you want to change the side of a face (looking right or looking left)
Anyways, only the layer im working on changes, not all the layers.
Can you tell me the steps you follow when you want to rotate all the layers at the same time? im curious and starting feeling like silly!
eduki 11 months ago
@eduki im wondering if maybe is the Mac? Are you working on Pc? lol, im trying to find weird answers to this question
eduki 11 months ago
@eduki alymer24 FINALLY!!! i did it! these are the steps i had to follow.
First, activate rotate canvas on panel. Then close app. Then open again, and move the whole canvas using 9 and 0 keys (i dont know why but [ and] keys dont work for me on my imac.
Thanks a lot for your help, friend!!!!
;-D

Hi, I just purchased the Large Intuos4 and I was wondering what you think about the supposedly short life of the nibs.
DaveSimkus 11 months ago
@DaveSimkus I wasn't aware of the nub issues(if there is one), nor have looked up any testing. Thankfully you do get extra nubs with the Intuos 4(hidden in the pen stand).. Even with the Intuos 3, I went through 2 nubs in its lifetime.
alymer24 11 months ago
@alymer24 Thank You, that gives me relief because a lot of reviews say that the nibs wear down as quickly as pencils.
DaveSimkus 11 months ago
@DaveSimkus The short life is a myth. The thing that is most likely to wear out first is the surface on the tablet. You can always buy replacement surfaces. I have had my Intuos for 6 months and have only went through one nib.

This has to be probably the smoothest freehand inking ive ever seen.. It looks like you feel very comfortable with the Intuos4. Im still trying to get used to mine.. was thinking about getting a cintiq. mybe it would feel more natural.. then i see this and am like.. NA.. ill stick with what i have..
jesman1985 11 months ago
@jesman1985 Keep going with your Intuos 4, and you'll have no problems.

RockMSockM7 1 year ago
@RockMSockM7 Here is what I notice with my old wacom 3 and my new Intuos 4, it feels very smooth to the point where curves feel more accurate. Obviously with a steady hand, the amount of pressure points in the intuos 4 shows, hence this little test.
alymer24 1 year ago
@alymer24 I see... just out of curiosity--what tool within sketchbook are you using to ink? I'm not sure I can tell--is it a custom brush, or one of the defaults? And yes, my intuos is fairly old--I'm not particularly happy with the "plastic on plastic" feel of drawing- has the surface changed with version 4? PS thanks for answering!
RockMSockM7 1 year ago
@RockMSockM7 I am using the pencil tool on a 300dpi document with a pencil size varying from 1.0 to 4.0. The surface has changed, i think its a little bit more rough compared to the intuos 3, but overall feels great.

@alymer24 Thanks! Your work looks great. Hoping to upgrade my Intuos soon.
