Jack and Jorma are close as you can come to having two giants of their respective instruments become one person when they are onstage and become out of this world amazing. Unbelievable chemistry they had and still do with both the Airplane and Hot Tuna.
Agreed. At their best Jack and Jorma lead me to a transcendent state of indescribable ... then I believe hearing soft sounds around me from the audience that I'm not the only one on this journey.
All done without being preachy, pushy, or pretentious, a rollicking bluesy chunky clunky funky down and dirty jes plain folks still psychedelic after all these years hard working band that that masterfully understates musically the ancient magic whispered ear to ear through time eternal.
This is maybe the most beautiful song in the 20 century: psychedelic, rock, groovy, bluesy, but at the same time sweet. The guitars are absolutely great, the bass too, the drums don't miss a fill. Wow, what a great sound!
It was 1976. My friends and I were 12-13 years old. For some stroke of luck we were turned on to Hot Tuna and found ourselves at the early show at Hostra University with 7th row center seats. Holy £€¥#. What a show and what a life changing event.
it was 1975 or early 1976, my freind got me and my wife front row center tics for ht @ the academy of music in nyc. 1 other couple was sopposed to go but couldnt make it. we sold the tics @ a profit we sold them for $15 ea. when the couple we sold them to saw we werent bs.they smoked weed w/us the whole concert. wnew broadcast it live. it went on forever which was good . the best concert i ever went to.needless to say we ate to much lsd
Jorma, Jack, Barry amd Erik will be coming to Tampa for their anual vist to Skippers. Gives me something to look forward to. They are must see when they come to town. It's great seeing them in relatively small venues.
I was a little too young to appreciate this when it first came out. However somewhere in my mid-30's, I re-discovered Hot Tuna and Im a fan ever since. " They just dont make music like this anymore"
This song is coming on 40 years old and still sets me a light, a flight when I hear it. Always someplace good, Hot Tuna opens a part of my soul
