hahaha..no one has ever asked..true. I made this video a few years ago, but I think I made this video right before (or maybe after) I swapped the whole front end off of one onto the other. I have an engine hoist and a chain, it seemed like the easiest option at the time..lol.
can you make a video showing how to remove and clean the carbs i have a 88 yamaha fzr 1000 and i need help, i would love if you helped me out because spending $300-400 to have it fixed is really not in my budget at the moment
yeah, you just can't separate the 4 carburetors from each other without having to resync them. There are 3 screws, each one has a carb on each side of it, and there a springs on either side I believe. These adjust the butterflies directly, if you adjust these then you WILL throw the carbs out of sync, if you don't touch them you will fine, take them apart, do whatever, careful with the floats and diaphragms too...very careful.
You seem to be mechanically inclined so I need to ask you a question. I have a 1998 yamaha fzr 600 and I am having trouble getting the front fender straight. You see I bought it cheap because it was dropped and I don't know what to do to fix this. Can you give me some advice? I have a video on my youtube page of the bike too if that helps..
@pauldavidson2006 no put the petcock on "off" position if your petcock doesnt work just plug the fuel tube comming from the tank with a pen or something, then when you take off the carbs yyou can turn them upside down to drain them or just take out the drain screws
In another video I show my bike with the R6 tail on it. I sold the blue one and got a wrecked one and fixed it.
Even if you are an experienced welder it's hard. There is a lot of fabricating involved, I used an old bedframe for the tail support. It took me a while because I wanted it to ride exactly like the R6, so it took a lot of comparing a measuring. google "heath agdog r6" (not in quotes), he did a 99 - 02 r6 tail and put an instructional with pictures online, it's 10 times easier
My 89 fzr 600 ran a little rich I took the carbs off cleaned them adjusted float height and removed those bastard EPA brass plugs with a drywall screw. Even though my carbs are bone stock I still wanted them gone...also removed the ex-up and haven't noticed anything odd.
This is a much needed video....maybe make another that is more detailed?
like to see how you take off the carb. I need to clean my carbs on my 1985 Nighthawk 650 but not real sure how to get to them to take them off. I have my gas tank off but that is about as far as I got. Hope to work on it some more this weekend. Will post a video if I can get the carbs off.
I'm surprised that I did not see a comment on the bike with a chain wrapped around it. What's the purpose of chaining it like that?

Thanks for the video, would have liked to see a bit more process instruction for how to remove/clean the carbs but cool dialog nonetheless.
I'm about to clean my FZR's carbs, and I even have old guitar strings laying around, so hey!

Hi, I'm new to bikes & this is probably a really dumb question, but do need to drain the bike of all its gas & oil before you remove the carburettor?

Wicked. I have the same bike and am doing the carb cleaning right now. Did you just clean the jets, or did you clean the entire carbs?
Also, what year of tail is that RR tail from?
Thanks!
