  • thumbs up if joerogan brought you here

  • @anduknowdismaan u know it, dirty freaks

  • Veronica Cartwright wasn't told about this twist in the ending. She freaked out for real.

  • @enisorian And Candyman. :)

  • press 9. repeat. win

  • joe mchail from community did the scream better

  • "Why do we have to take our nap now?"

"I don't want to take a nap now, I'm not tired."

  • And I still don't know what regionals are! Community is awesome!

  • Actually the very last scene we see with a human Mathew is right when he's hiding under the bridge and then one of the pod people says "Well he can't stay awake forever" and then cuts to the pod Mathew.

So basically it's impossible to not be turned into a pod person.

  • ... Jeff?

  • Community brought me here.

  • @luf4rall Me too! LOL

  • @luf4rall

    ...What the hell are regionals?

  • agree one of the best endings ever , but what a fail also .

if the pod people have no emotions so why do i see happy children running around there?

  • @richis404 Because they're not pod children yet. You can hear one child asking why does he have to take a nap.

  • This scene still gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it.

  • Where are Mulder and Scully when you NEED them? :-(

This is almost as bad as living in a world overrun by zombies.

Depressing ending - and one of the best

  • fuck the beginning of this

  • Id share this on Facebook for Halloween, but unfortunately you have embedding disabled!!

  • Amazing ending!

  • in the original it's isn't clear if the pod people took over the world but heavily inplied the the lead character failed

in this remake it is certain that they took over the wood based on the freighter scene, this ending and the fact that nobody would believe donald sutherland and friends.

  • one of the few movies that gave me nightmares as a kid!!! good stuff

  • I remember watching the ending of this movie when I was a little kid and being scared shitless. This scene was imprinted in my mind all these years -- a true classic in film.

  • I think you could be right but i won't swear to it. Capricorn 1 is one of my all time favorites. Get drunk and watch the following. ( The Thing, escape from LA., Saturn 3. Just some of my favorites.. Hey get back to me mate and we can share movies.

  • Great Movie, Loads of mistakes but who cares. Sutherland is so good in the roles he plays and he really carried it off in this one. AMAZING GRACE.

  • so disturbinglol

  • I didn't watch the movie, but at the beginning of the video, I thought Donald had made it... when did he transform? :S

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz we dont see it thats what makes it surprising

  • @kallemick aaah :p

not sure i dear to watch this movie :/

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz about all that scared me was this ending...... or wait it didnt really because it was so long without anything happening that i stopped caring XD

  • still sends chills up my spine!!

  • I've only watched this movie once because no movie as disturbed as much as this.

  • During the movie, the characters discover that the pod people clones emit a piercing shrill scream once they learn someone is still human among them. They also discover that a way to evade the pod people is by hiding all emotion. Its a bleak ending because Nancy, who has been pretending all this time to be a pod person to avoid capture, runs into Donald and lets her guard down only to find that he has turned into one of the pods.

  • I've seen the movie tonight and this last scene scared the shit out of me. Totally the scariest movie ending I'd ever seen.

  • I think the 1993 version is much better, also the one with Nicole Kidman is very good! But i have to admit the ending from this movie is a master piece!

  • lulz to the extreme(dinosaurs)

  • this is what i do when i find someone boring, i just point and scream

  • This movie in general was pretty meh, but the ending alone creeped the hell out of me.

  • Not seen the film. Know the general gist of the story and such, but that is still one of the honestly scary things i've seen/heard. I can watch most horror films with a glazed look on my face, but that ending? Goddamn scary.

  • For some reason, I had an odd nightmare about this ending. I haven't seen this movie in 4 or 5 years. Last night, I dreamed I was watching the ending, but during it, I stood up to get water and Donald was standing in my doorway making that weird sound. Weird!

  • Grandiose !!!

  • The New World Order in 2012, we all gonna turn into watermelons...laughs.

  • SHIT! That's Irn Bru in that beaker! Don't drink it, "It's made wi' girders!"

  • I have no seen this movie and I do not understand the ending. Can someone please explain it to me? a real explanation please not "go see the movie" I simply do not have the time

  • @SmokeyMcPot420yee sadly the only way really is to see the movie withought making 7 paragraphs

  • @sonicdsfan1 7 Paragraphs would be dope, spill tha beans!

  • @SmokeyMcPot420yee lol. Um... I guess when people go to sleep the pod's (that came from space) copy their identity (body, face, cloths, ect) then when the pod person is awake the real person dies. The way to avoid the pod people is not to show emotion. Witch that women did. So did the man until now (you didn't see this happen). The women thought the man was the real man. When a pod person spots a real human they point and scream

  • @SmokeyMcPot420yee the ending is this - donald sutherland's character tries to stop the pod people (the pod are a gooey sentient blob w/out emotion they replace a planets popu. with grown inposters in giant plant-like pods and discard the human they just copyed

it looks like he does by destroying a factory with pods in it, then discoverys a freight -ship being loaded with pods bound for the world, (all to an brilliant bagpipe amazing grace score). the film then cuts out and this is the ending.

  • After all these years, this just popped in my mind, and I had to revisit it. Still Creepy!

  • The endings hopeless only works because you really give a shit about the characters and the story. Otherwise it would have pissed you off. One of the greatest endings of any film ever in it's execution.

  • Such a good twist ending. I love it.

  • I just realized what a fucking ripoff the Invasion is of this movie -___-

  • @Kotlettbengt Not really a ripoff more of a remake.

  • 2:58

She probably felt really really stupid after that.

  • Lulz, he was cutting up an ad for Papaya Love Goddess of the Cannibals.

  • So damn creepy.

  • why is there an ad for the clip of a pirated movie?

  • Do you remember how shocked you were at the way this movie ended?

  • One of the best endings in horror history! It leaves a feeling of never ending hopelessness, dispair, and futility!

  • By far the scariest scene of the movie.

  • love the Amazing Grace 2.15-2.43

  • Comment removed

  • 2:58 That's actually one of the scariest human expressions I've ever seen in film.

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore!

  • Press 9 for HAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!

  • 3:15 hysterical face!!!! hahahaha

  • So.......scary

  • A great movie and the absolute best version made of this story. Also a very depressing and un-encouraging ending. Unlike most movies today, which for whatever reason all seem to have nice, tidy and sugary sweet endings. However its movies like this, with its seemingly hopeless ending, which are the movies that stick with you long after you've watched them.

  • @berjaboy Agreed. I simply got up quietly and took the disc out of my dvd player.

  • @berjaboy Most "depressing and un-encouraging" endings often feel tacked on just for the sake of it. There's nothing wrong with having a "nice and tidy" ending. However, this is one of the better downer endings

  • @berjaboy i love this!

  • @berjaboy

The 2006 remake was the opposite. Dull, overly convenient ending and not one genuinely scary moment. This version, on the other hand, I could watch over and over.

  • @berjaboy Exactly I watched this when I was around 9 or 10. I'm 18 today, and I usually hate to watch older movies, but this somehow created an awful lot of respect.

  • @berjaboy

I loved this ending, but I don't get the obsession that "happy" endings are somehow shitty/

  • @berjaboy I guess I politely disagree. Not that this ending isn't amazing -- because it is -- but some movies have "nice, tidy and sugary sweet" endings because that's what's most appropriate for the story. You can't tell me that Spirited Away's ending is inappropriately sweet or happy when it fits the story and character development perfectly.

Just saying, it's less about movies back then vs. movies today and more about what the story calls for.

  • @berjaboy At the time (mid to late 70s) Watergate & the Vietnam War had permeated into the American consciousness of not being able to trust government and to a lesser extent society. When Reagan came along, this somewhat disappeared for a while. Just my $0.06...

  • saw the movie just now and this ending is so fucking scary, one of the most scariest endings i've ever seen

  • If this is true...no one is around, he could tell the bitch to shut up or she will blow his cover.

  • @krelbar but isnt he one of does pod clone things? Thats why he does that sound, he isnt human.

I dont know really, its just a guess, I havent seen the movie yet.

  • @mark33850

Yes, that's what's going on. Krelbar's either had a very interesting artistic interpretation of the movie, or is alternatively an idiot.

  • 2:58 SPAMMER!!!!!!!!!!

  • That scream is so nightmarishly awesome

  • calif. (meth) users are ready now...(to buy atleast* a week left. to live; their lives on this earth; invaded!)...but I don't think that he was "real" anymore...just a plant, Robert....peace!

  • i greet my mrs in the same way.

  • I adore this film. The ending was cool and I hoped they make a sequel and then trequel. Too bad they didn't do that - it's one of my all time favorite SCI-FI films (along with Alien series, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Moonraker, The Time Shifters, FutureSport etc). The acting was perfect. I guess this film inspired The Hidden (1987), Body Snatchers (1993), The Arrival (1996), Mimic (1997), The Faculty (1998), The Lake (1998), The Invasion (2007), tv show Invasion (2005) etc

  • is it just me or did those children seem happy?

  • @Jeice555 They were happy because they were still human. You can see that as they were going in one end of the building, pods were being brought in at the other end. They were brought there, most likely on a supposed school trip, but the real reason was to be duplicated. You can also hear over the loudspeaker in the background in that segment, a pod person giving other pod people instructions on where pods are being shipped or where "family members" can pick them up to help spread the invasion.

  • @berjaboy if you listen carefully you can hear one of the children asking why he has to take a nap because he's not tired

  • Justin Beiber:Hey!

    Me: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • (points)

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • i was just like LOL WHAT AN IDIOT.

  • Uh...well that was creepy. What's going on? Why did that dude just scream at that lady like a pig. What the heck?

  • @bronzesword06 because she was a human.

  • @aglewi41 Thanks. I just watched it because I was curious...HOLY CRAP DUDE! That is a pretty creepy and sad movie.

  • @bronzesword06

    It's what pod people do.

  • imagine if they invaded now they'd have to deal with global warming sweet :3

  • @commentmaster Look up a movie called 'The Arrival' starring Charlie Sheen. It's a lot like this, except the global warming is being sped up by the invaders because they like it that way. (Avoid the direct-to-video sequel, though.)

  • The distorted Amazing Grace just makes this movie completely

  • This movie freaked me OUT!

  • Did you know the ending was hidden from Veronica Cartwright? She didn't expect Donald Sutherland to be a pod.

  • I did not expect this ending, especially the part where the teachers are taken the kids in to be converted. One of the best horror endings ever.

  • Oh great, now every time I walk by City Hall I'm going to think of this scene...

  • Comment removed

  • great ending ,didn't coming

  • Hahahaha Invasion of the Body Snatchers <3 10/10

  • Wow she must be gutted...

  • @NinjaFaceJon You just can't help but notice his strangely veiled curiosity towards himself and those around him. All of the other Pods are oblivious to their surroundings, yet Matthew walks around the halls of his office building observing other Pods.

  • @Malocosa The only real proof otherwise is I don't think any human person could possibly make that noise haha.

Of course maybe he is just very talented and right after the movie closed he yelled "Gotcha!"

  • @Malocosa

That's to keep the audience thinking he's human until the twist in the last few seconds of the film.

  • Part of me believes that Matthew is playing the part of a Pod Person and has decided to go "double-agent" in hopes of infiltrating the alien invasion. Since he lost the woman he loved he seems resigned to accept this new role. I know the ending of this scene contradicts what I'm saying, but for me I just feel that it's a possibility.

  • @Malocosa But thats is merely a duplicate the original Matthew is dead

  • @Malocosa Yes, the performance - if not the ending of the scene - works with your suggestion.

  • @Malocosa Then why out an ally to the rest of the pod people?

  • @Malocosa yea i think that too...when he went to go see the girl i forgot her name lol but you can tell he is sad that its not really her and yea he is just doing what he has to do...maybe a sequel and sutherland can reprise his role and after all these years he is still normal that would be cool

  • LP III+: This is not the ending that we want for our hero, right! +JVA+

  • @Cablogula Agreed.

  • can you post the part when the guy in the park gets his dna crossed with the pod..that's too funny..

  • He must have horrible breath...

  • I'm do confused.... What's happening to the kids? Are they going to get infected too? If you liked this, read "The Host", by Stephanie Meyer. :)

  • @TheFoxTank Oh, god, I hate Stephanie Meyer's writing. I am going to get so much sh*t for that XD.

  • @TheAmazingFro I agree.

  • @TheAmazingFro I know, all her twilight books are terrible the host was average though, but it was another stupid romance :(

  • Oh lord...Now I'm going to have nightmare...shit!

  • @jango52577 lol. me too.....D: i cant unsee!
