@rwp80rwp80 It depends, but if you spend some time with it, like with every other application, you kick ass in no time. It is not intended to paint bitmaps with Softimage, this is just a possibility if you want to do it. Zbrush doesn't have animation tools, but hey, it is awesome sculpting application. And even if UI is horrible, it is used extensively.
@rwp80rwp80 maya suffers from the labyrinth problem too. I think maxon bodypaint is easier than this. The other thing I don't like about softimage are the crappy sliders on most of the polygon modeling controls.
wtf wheres the freeze button on the free download it was in my minicourse, but not on the free download, instead, snap is there, i cant make roads wiht the "extrude along curve" option! WHAT TEH HELL PLZ HELP!
nevermind, worked it out. I was merging the object and forgetting to make the new merged object have uv's merge to the new model. Do cubes started off in xsi have uv's? or do you have to unwrap them?
Agreed, but this is certainly a more advanced technique. You can always very simply click on an object or group of polygons and in two clicks apply a "texture > image" command to place a straight forward image texture using the default material.
I'm new to XSI but why do you need the texture projection if you are using vertex based weight maps? Surely the geometry should define the texture space! :o) Then you could use the weight map as a density lookup for a shader.
I agree, projecting a UV map but vertex painting?!? Whilst Vertex and Weight map painting both depend on the density of a mesh to add more detail they are for COMPLETELY different purposes!
how much is this program and will it work on widows 7 do you no?

@harrym2457 3000$ works in windows , but i think LightWave low price powerful program.

This program is extremely overcomplicated.
I understand it's industry standard, but it's extremely difficult to use.
The user needs to navigate a labyrinth just to do the simplest things.

it's nice and stuff, but I think it's a bit complicated when you want to texture some really simple object, with a really simple texture
