  • u just have the accent of it... but i believed u say it right but theres many way u could speak Taishanese..

  • dude get a better mic please and i noticed theres a few little differences between kaiping and taishan

  • ur speaking sounds like that u were not born in Toishan.

  • @quixoticfallcy haha... It's older than cantonese though...

  • sounds like some terrible crappy improper cantonese....

  • This is really interesting, I've never heard of Taishanese before today when I found out my friend speaks it. I only know mandarin and some canto

  • i speak fuilent taishanese u have a awkward accent..

  • I can't hear you the audio is HORRIBLE!!

  • some of the taisanese u said was totally wrong. like its similar but wrong

  • wow, i should know this, but wrong

  • please improve the audio and if possible make a video of the movement of the mouth while pronunciating the words, I think that will help a lot.

    Thanks.

  • Taishanese is so hiliarious the accent always gives me a smirk. Its funny, certain words are just used differently.

  • 我是台山来的。 我讲的是台山话, 但是现在连广东话也旧了。 将来用的是国语。读 NYTIMES "IN CHINATOWN, SOUND of the FUTURE is MANDARIN."

  • that's not how u say it dude , u can tell when u say italy,it was a bit weird

  • that's how 80% of Taishanese say it lol I'm guessing you say "Yi Ai Lei" for Italy.. cuz only Taicheng, Dajiang and Shuibu use the "ei" vowel, where as the rest of Taishan (chonglou, sijiu, baisha, etc..) use the "i" vowel. Example: Ni (you), Fi Gi (airplane), Mi Gok(america), etc

  • umm...no that IS how u say...do u speak taishanese?

  • haha u have an accent...i'm from taishan...and it sounds different

  • sounds like a Fukienese, cuz i use that language to my family

  • really? i see lol Well fukienese is a Chinese dialect as well.. so it's normal there are some similarities =)

  • WTF!! YOU'RE MISSING HOI PING!!

  • 開平 Kaiping was right after 台山 Tai Shan. Learn some fucking Chinese you make ABCs look bad.

  • whao , calm down maaayne!

  • is it just me or is the quality of this audio horrible?

  • Hello Jay! Thanks for sharing this video and for keeping hoy san wah alive. I guess my dialect of hoy san wah is a little different. If I heard you correctly, you pronounced the word for "big" by saying "uh." My dialect of hoy san pronounces it as "ay." I know PC mikes are seriously lacking in quality, but do you think in the future you can re-do this video with a better mike? That would be wonderful. Thanks again!

  • umm.. big is pronounced like Guangzhou Cantonese "Dai" but without the "D"... so it's "Ai" for Big.

  • @jaychow21 to be more exact, the "D" has already been omitted. So an example like 地方 which should be Di Fong has become "i fong" (yi fong)

  • what kinda accent is that.

  • i speack some weird chinese. my parents say its guang hoi wa. o__o'' i cant speak taishanese and cantonese wif the guang zhou accent too. :]

  • :x to be honest, i can't really tell the difference between taishan city taishanese and guanghai taishanese xD both sounds the same to me ;-; my dad is from guanghai (though he speaks guangzhou canto at home), but i live in taishan city when i go back to china ._.;;; maybe i should concentrate more when my dad speaks guanghainese x)

  • well. my dad can speak taishanese. and his tongue is like against his teeth. and it makes this raspy sound wen he speaks. guanghai taishanese is just like guang zhou chinese but with a lower tonee. .____.''

  • my toisan > Your toisan

  • what is your toisan? and is there any or much difference?

  • Im from the city hoi seng

  • hoi seng is not a city...it's more like the central of hoisan, similiar to downtown?

  • it is a city .. hoi seng is a city .. in the highway sign . .it said taicheng CITY

  • there are tonal differences from yours (chonglau?) and hoi seng

  • umm.. i am not from chonglou lol But anyways why don't you make a video of how Taicheng people count from 1 to 10 and other vocabularies =]
