They're not bad for a so-called budget airline. What value can be put on being able to watch the Lions - Ticats game en route? And more important, they use Boeing equipment. If it isn't Boeing, I'm not going.
@YULspotter Yes you are correct, the "Dome" on the fuselage is the satellite receiver dish for the in-flight TV and movies in every seat headrest. I have flown with WestJet for many years. I agree with you on the whole "Jet Direction" of the logo. Makes no sense to me.
Westjet does fly over seas, and the reason they are equipped with the dome is because it has satilite television. The logo is pointing east because, the first owner of westjet, lived in montreal. And the head office is in calgary!!! LOL
@inukjuak89 Dome is for satillite TV and yes they do fly over seas they go to europe all those good places now about the jet thing thats just how its say would Jetwest make sense no.
@inukjuak89 The dome on the top that you see is for internet. You could see a lot of company that have a dome. Icould think of luftansa, Westjet and I think that Jet Blue have it too.
those 737s are so much quieter than they used to be, they have different engines now? I remember living near an airport and always noticing they were the loudest on take off and the 727 too, the engines look bulkier now like on larger jets.
Yep, the engines tend to be larger know as airliners are using hi-bypass engines. Hi-bypass means that most of the air being sucked in by the fan at the front flows around the engine's core. This produces additional thrust without burning fuel and also helps to make the engine quieter.

I googled "737-700", and then clicked on images;
I even visited the Boeing website.
It seems only WestJet has 737-700s with a dome on top.
Does anybody know why?
Surely they don't do coast guard reconnaissance missions;
they don't even fly overseas.
Also, for a western company called WestJet,
does anybody know why their corporate logo
always has the "jet" pointing east?
inukjuak89 4 years ago
I believe the dome on top of the fuselage is a satellite receiver for their in-flight entertainment system.
I don't know reasoning behind the position of the word "jet" in their logo.

It all depends on the range of the scanner. For the AR-108, I would guess at around 15km.

You can buy the Maycom AR-108 scanner for around $100.00 CAD. I would suggest looking on eBay.

I had a radio airband scanner with me. I had it turned on while filming.
