Excellent job. I did a search and found your version. The other night I was playing in a small group outside "campfire" type setting (sans fire) and someone requested wildfire; a song a heard a bizillion times growing up but never played before. So I winged it and was surprised when I saw your video that I guessed the same key. Almost played exactly the same. I added A little riff in the middle comping the guitar riff. X57777, xx7675, x55777. Picking the strings with my ring finger while strum
wow!- when i was little, my dad used to play this for me- all he had to do was play a few cords and i would stop crying every time- awesome job!- this song holds so much magic for me and you did an amazing job!- felt like i was sitting at my fathers feet again- thank you- was starting to forget where i came from.......thank you.
Im a fan of this song and I was looking at how Michael Murphy had changed his looks and dress through the years and saw your related video and said what the hell, this is going to be bad. Boy was I surprized your pretty darn good, your voice has natural resonance and your guitar playing is great and this is not your normal 3-4 chord country song. I wouldn't think about atempting to play and sing this song at the same time. outstanding
Nice piece of music there. A classic at that!! I think you would sound pretty good performing some old John Denver tunes. You have a similar voice and you seem to have the playing down. Oughta give it a try. ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH, by request!!!
Thank you for the nice comment. It's a 1997 Taylor 710KCE. That means it's a "level" 7 in appointments, 10=dreadnought size, K=Koa wood, C=Cutaway, and E=Electric.
I've been asked a few times to post the chords so here goes. The song is in the key of D with the verses going from Dmaj7 to Gmaj7. The chorus is G, F#m7... and G, F#m7, Em7, A(7), D. I don't know what chords the original uses but this key fits my vocal range. Thanks fo much for the great comments! Tom D.
Thanks for the link... this is incredible, my first visit to youtube and I get to hear you sing -- finally! I still want to come over and hear you for real... take care! Bev

I like the way you damp the strings when trying to play a chord. Callouses must be hurting you. Keep trying you'll get it.

Great version! Keep it up. Obviously jam 9166 lacks any musical acumen and is envious of your God-given talent!
