And Russia is not Always more FORMIDABLE than the USA. Were they more FORMIDABLE when the USA beat Russia in Olympic play in 1960, 1980, 2002? Were they more FORMIDABLE when the USA beat Russia in the World Cup of Hockey or Canada' Cup. The reality is this: Russia is very good at hockey and has a great history but so does the USA and although the Russians have won more games against the USA USA conversely has many significant victories over the USSR and Russia as well. Both teams are good

kdyztak SSSR ale to jejedno:) do historie IIHF se zapsali medaily od SSSR k Rusům a proto má rusko 25zlatych -nemuzou je jen tak vymazat ze:D a to jenom kvuli tomu ze SSSR jako tym nemyslim zemi se skladal z 99% rusů -CSKA moskva a Dynamo Moskva a pripadne Spartak takze Rusko

But they won 22 gold medals in IIHF championships (Russia won additional 2) and 9 times became Olympic champions.

Anybody who truly knows anything about hockey knows that the Russian Olympic wins are not as meaningful as they could have been because they played against mostly nobodies, semi-pro or amateurs from other countries, while they were full-time professionals who were given possessions in the Red Army so that they could just train for hockey.
