I think this particular record should be in relation to the athlete's height. I mean, the guy was amazing, but his 1.95m surely helped! If he was 1.70m, a 2.20m jump would be equally impressive.

However I actually think at 2.20m high jump is more impressive for a 1.70m person, because although he's also jumping 45cm higher than his own height, in proportion this is a greater achievement. In simple terms, working on the same example, if a 1.00m midget jumped 1.50m that's be eqivalent of a 2.00m guy jumping 3.00m cos he'd jumping his height + 50%. It'd also be more entertaining seeing a midget olympics. More importantly.
