  • Sounds like Thumping beat, song by Jimmy Page.

  • BTW, Henry McCullouch certainly delivers here!!

  • God, how I love this, it's raw, tough rock'n'roll performed in 1972 [sic!] and it's Paul and Wings in their prime, really wish I had this on DVD. I think this clip is put together from two different sources, the second is from a Melwyn Bragg presentation documentary from 1977 or '78, just after the Mull Of Kintyre success. I remember taping the soundtrack off the telly, this was before video was available in Everyman's home, and I still remember the kick from this perfomance. Kicks ass, this!

  • AndrewJBoyer, have to share this with you, Lucille was written by little Richard about one of his girlfriends!

  • GREAT STUFF! Vintage Wings!

  • this was indeed the first rehearsal by the group. before henry joined, the other 4 members recorded the album wildlife. but did not do any concerts

  • pity the beatles broke up imagine them singing this in 1972 priceless but at least we have this

  • ah lucille! a rock n roll classic! every rocker did it from lil richard to elvis to chuck berry, to james brown, to jerry lee lewis. its name was gotten from b.b.kings guitar "lucille", one day when bb lost it and couldnt find he, wrote that first line, and then the rest was written about a girl.

  • I also was looking for this for years! Paul is free and very touching! Great Paul! Great Paul!

  • George Harrison & Deep Purple did a live concert version of "Lucille" this song too

  • Ah yes... ol' Billy Campbell. You almost fooled us all Billy!

    James Paul McCartney

    June 18, 1942 - November 16, 1966

    RIP

  • WOW good is this, he is so fucking good ! his voice just blows me away !

  • Yep,,,,Paul was born a poor black child.

  • sorry - wings mock 1 line-up was just plain awful - out of tune and not very good - 1976 wings mocks 3 was awesome -

ever hear the 1973 version of maybe i'm amazed - its awful

  • Is that a young Christopher Lloyd on lead guitar???

  • @young5ever

Hi, no it's not Christopher Lloyd. It's the great Irish guitarist Henry McCullough.

  • @young5ever no, its Denny Laine (formerly of The Moody Blues)

  • the first wings

  • one of their first performances, also one of their best then Paul was always good at doing little richard numbers. did did did they ever release it wings? they did release a buddy holly cover on the first lp!

  • @janfreidun yes- this song and the otehr Rockestra stuff was released on Paul McCartney & Wings album "Back to the Egg" and is also a VHS by the same name

  • Henry is my uncle :) i aint joking thou so if u dnt believe me just deal...

  • this is so cool! Paul sounds great :)

  • Can't possibly be the first rehearsal. Maybe Henry's first with Wings.

  • And you Mcmore are the biggest IDIOT on the planet. Well done cunt.

  • @micmore007a

No one can laugh anymore ... Waahhhh..

  • Henry McCulloch? I thought he joined later? Was he just there as a session man or was he a member from the beginning? Anyone.

  • Henry McCullough was the first lead guitarist of Wings. the first Wings album Wild Life was only a four piece, Paul, Denny Laine, Denny Seiwell and Linda. Red Rose Speedway was the only album Henry was on.

  • I know that but if this is the first rehearshal it must be before Wild Life. Was he on Wild Life but not in the band?

  • no, this is the first Wings rehearsal for touring, if i'm not mistaken. Wild Life was the previous year, 1971. this is Henry's first rehearsals with the band, other than an audition. both Denny L & Denny S had already been living up in Scotland for the past year and recorded Wild Life, but no live performances.

  • Oh OK. That makes sense. Great sound already. I love the early Wings music. I think they recorded that first or second tour. The music has come out in dribs and drabs. Would love to hear all the material. They were a terrific live band.

  • i think that Paul Mccartney mimics little richard very well :-)

  • @subatan

    I love it!

  • @giligara30492

I meant, the way he mimics Little Richard.

  • Good take! A great take by LR was done at Toronto 09-69 (out there on DVD!).

  • Does anyone know which film/ documentary this came from ?

  • Henry McCullough on lead guitar..the man who made My Love such a massive song!!

  • i totally agree mate, henry lives close to me, i have talked to him in conversation after a gig, amazing guitarist.

  • Square one.

Thirty-six years later. Advice I'll take.

  • thats cold espec considering the fact that she is no longer w/ us & Paul loved her very much..shithead

  • According to Paul, during these sessions, he was thinking "who's that on my left?... Who's that on my right?..." because the only bandmates he was playing with since 1957 were John and George. Great video.

  • Excellent!

  • In the beginning i thought it was a remix of lady madonna

  • I'm not a fan of this...I like the original, but I don't understand why Paul was playing this in 1972. How did he persuade those guys to play this stuff...they must have hated it...

  • Well when you think about it, the guys in wings are around Pauls age. Denny laine was a childhood friend of Paul so they all would have grew up listening to little Richards version.

  • Uh, when you don't know each other you play the songs you all know. What else would you play? This was not meant as the next single...

  • i wouldn't call Denny Laine a childhood friend of Paul, unless you all 21 being a child. they met when the Moody Blues toured with the Beatles. and later got together in 1971.

  • The lead player Henry McCullough said Wings were no better than a good showband!!He should know he played with them!!

  • But he (Henry McCullough) left Wings feeling resentful.... I don't think his opinion is very objective at all.

  • Henry's said a lot of things since. Beside Joe Cocker's Grease Band, he hasn't really lived up to what he could have been.

  • Love it!! This may sound funny but at the end of the song like a real short clip Paul almost looks as if he was about to fall, it only looks like it to me when I saw it.

  • GREAT

  • who's the hack on guitar?

  • Is that Linda playing guitar on the left?

  • Nope thats Henry McCullogh,Wings guitarist until 1973.

  • is that henry mc loch on gutiar

  • Yep, that's Henry.

  • My how time flies! Seems like only yesterday...

  • is that a bit of the Starsky and Hutch theme that Henry McCullough (guitarist) plays at the start of this clip?

  • That was really good thanks for putting it on here

  • awesome!!

  • The king is little richard of rock and the harmonyman is paul. thanks for the video.

  • are there more songs from this recording?

  • We all know that there are, as evidenced as an excerpt from "The McCartney Years" has a video of "Wild Life" from this session; now, only if Paul would release the whole thing...

  • it has this on the mccartney years!!! i can't find it

  • It should be on the second disc, either under "Audio Settings" or something... Just look at ALL of the menus. You'll find it, but it's on the second disc.

  • ok! C: thanx :)

  • No problem! ;)

  • thanks for the posting. this is the earliest wings clip i've seen on youtube. but it wouldn't have been rehearsals for CHOBA B CCCP, because those would have been in the 80s.

  • It's just a joke and not a misprint :) I'm living in Russia and at these early 70's times we couldn't dream to see Paul alive or even on TV. By these words I just want to tell all the world how we loved him on in spite of the Iron Curtain and finally he has brought that number to russians from '70 onto CHOBA... LP in 1987 :)

  • Muito legal esse registro! Voz metalizada, rasgada e extensão vocal alta. Muita versatilidade e talento. Congratulation Paul, i am brazilian at the Fortaleza city.

  • Excellent!

  • Thank you very much! I've been looking it for ages! Spasibo!

  • Nice to meet you here, thanks for the samples from the MAF on the beatles*ru!

  • thank you for this video. Please send more!!

  • thanks very cool
