can someone help explain where the second column of 4 symbols comes from in his diagram of the pseudorandom generator

there are 4 rows each ending with a symbol either a 1 or a 1 1 next to this column is another column of symbols but where do these come from initially?

I was wondering that too. The first column is chosen randomly, the third column is calculated and then plugged into second column. ... So the initial second column is what?

I think the first two columns are given by what the 1s and 11s represent, or are random and the resultant is added to the group and so therefore can grow like a tree... dunno, but I guess it has to do with how one would apply such information, whether added to the first, second, both or doubled result, like fibonacci or like predicting, calculating, or just trial and error for art, design or pure inspiration I guess.

hm? In the video he says "they only repeat the randomness 4 times" If you pause it at 11:02 it shows 4 lines which are calculated to find the 1st column. So I don't think they randomly choose the 2nd column. he seemed to explain everything but the initial 2nd column. I know it's pseudo-random, but I'm still curious because the columns would seem to create an obvious pattern and not be random at all (column 3 seemingly switches between 2 possibilities). argh.

oh please. Its not like we dont know those things in the West, where they were first developed by Leibniz in the 1600's, Cantor in the 1870's, P Levy in the 1940's, Mandelbrot in 60's.

The cool thing is that here is an example of parallel development of mathematical patterns in a place that may have done it sooner and is a place often marginalized in the history of math&science. He didnt say he discoverd multiple differential equasions there either.

Beautiful.. Definately a needed endeavor to connect Africa in with the history of mathematics and to show it in the architecture of villages is especially powerfull. Amazing how this depth of math patterning informs like so many levels.
