You do know that most of the firefighters in the US are volunteer right? That means they dont get paid to save a life and they do have other jobs to support their families. Just saying not all firefighters are paid to save lives. They just get on the truck because they like to see the smile on the face of the person face of when they save their animal from a fire.

About the Q arguement- the Q is a rotary siren. Scientifically, people pay more attention to different tones than one long continuous pitch. Also, being a rotary, the siren will burn out if you hold it on without letting it wind down. Every department has their own ideas, so do as your chief says, just keep that in mind.
Well there was 6000 gallons of home heating oil spilling out. We called the hazmat team to help clean up because it was spilling onto the highway and flowing into the grass. Also we had to get another tanker truck to offload the remaining fuel. We were in service about 6 hours.

FULLY AGREE with you Fooseball36. Many people fail to realize the fact that when resonding, sirens must be audible (used) the ENTIRE time the lights are used and the vehicle/apparatus is in motion. SAFETY FIRST... even before "ears"!
I do have to agree with bdigger. THe Q siren is not ment to be used going full wail. It is ment to be used as a high low siren. In this case the officer just put his foot on the siren and didnt take it off. when that happens all it is is noise. IT is much more efective in an on of pattern()letting it wind up,let it sit there for a second and then let it wind back down,rinse lather repeat.other wise good video exept for that dumb ass in the blue honda around 1:53 :)
Q with an electronic siren (yelp/hyper-yelp NOT wail) and an airhorn will get you to any scene... along with a smart engineer/operator and non-moronic citizens, no matter how you use the Q.
