I own the Digitech Live Vocalist 5, and it does not work properly with prerecorded music. You really need a solo instrument, usually a guitar, although the rack mounted unit also works with a keyboard. But using more than one instrument or prerecorded music will only cause chaos and useless cacophony.
You sound really good. I have a Neumann KSM105 which is great for live singing but would love to get a Neumann studio mic. I also just bought the vocalist live 5 which I am pretty impressed with.
@rockmanreturns You're very kind, thank you. I used a Pearlman TM-1 for most of my videos until May of 2011, when I switched to a Neumann U47 clone that I built myself. I really love how it sounds. I think my cover of Bread's "Guitar Man" or "Make It With You" might have been the first time I used the new mic. I've recorded everything I've done since with it. Have fun with your Vocalizer 5! I'm really enjoying it with my band! Cheers.
this sounds okay but it doesn't follow the right harmony without using an instrument, which made your kareee- a little bit oakeee.. Great job anyways, I would have thought this song would be to high for you since your talking voice is so low....Great singer..
@thisux7x7 I'm not a musician so I don't know the answer to this, but I wonder if I fed the audio from the karaoke track into the Vocalizer, if it could pick out the chords, or would it be too confused by all the other instrumentation?
@JeffMcNeal It is how they can sound more realistic, the harmonies can follow different notes that are are in their perspective range..It may only work wit piano and guitar ??
Could it be it sounded more human than the rest cuz' of the harmony levels and cuz' humans aren't suppose to be perfect like the machines. I love it cuz' we're all gonna start sounding like machines.
It's not working properly - but it's NOT entirely your fault! As the title says "without guitar input." Which means the VL5 has no chord basis for the harmonies and, therefore, simply can't generate correct harmonies.
@SeldomL8 You're absolutely correct. Without the guitar input, sometimes the harmonies work, other times they don't. I've been using this with my band and also had another friend come over a couple of times with his electro-acoustic and it works much better in that context. It's really a great tool, when used properly. Thanks for your comment.
PS - i'm glad you stay 'organic' in your videos... please don't ever succumb to the Autotune Dark Side, young Jedi... if you do, i'll have no choice but to unsubscribe, and that would only break my heart... :)
okay, let me get this out of the way: i am smitten, can ya tell?? *LOL* holy crow... you're killing me... anyway, about the demo: i thought it was great, except for the "in the air" parts and the "doo doo doo"s; sounds off... however, when i read the last line of your description, it made sense... only 15 mins after 1st plugging it in, yeah, it sounds good, in that case... my ears are so used to hearing the original, so those parts sounded weird... all in all, impressive...
@grandpaatemydildo Hi, no, this is actually the first real-time vocal processor I've ever tried. I don't know much about all the differences between the 3 vs. the 5, but I think you pretty much nailed it.
@metalreign1 Thanks. It's a very sad and frustrating situation. I hope he's going to be okay, but he's been exceedingly difficult to reach and I haven't personally spoken with him in almost 3 months, not for lack of my trying. I felt I had no choice but to develop a new band in the interim because the other three guys in MJR all are in other bands and didn't seem too interested in bringing in a substitute guitarist until Greg was back in good health. The whole thing is a drag.
Great voice sounds really good

@rockmanreturns No, it's a TLM-103. I rarely use it, but was on this day.

@MGMLioness I hate autotune. I think it sounds stupid. So, no worries there.

@MGMLioness You're right. Those parts do sound weird. I think they'd work better if I had set the thing up better.

@JeffMcNeal you can control the harmony pitch, right?

Very nice! All the best for the guy.
Have you tried Vocalist live 3? Do you know the differences, apart from 3/5 part harmonies?
