Hemp is the answer people. Why the hell is this miraculous plant still illegal. The law is a joke in todays standard and is only additional debt. All we have to do is stop.
yes CREN, corn is a poor ethanol source, especially since there are WAY more productive plants. Corn is just easy. What about corn stoves??
There are many plants better for ethanol. Sugar beets produce about two times as much per acre. Cattails, a weed to some, yields three or four times more fuel. And, the feed-stock makes better animal feed afterwards. Check out David Blume's videos on youtube.
Big Oil can't let alcohol fuel succeed. Where did you say you got your information???
You only need cat-tails grown in something america is great at making .. .$#IT.. Cattails ate 65% starch when grown in sewer and grow fast. At bets you can get 10,000 gallons ethanol from 1 acre of cat tails.
I dont have the number infront of me, but I'm sure your data is incorrect.
Because Dr Paul operates on the basis of libertarian Austrian economic principles , not political prostitution , it's easy to answer this one for him : let the markets decide . Currently $0.51 is taxed to subsidize each gallon of corn ethanol . At the same time imported sugar based ethanol faces a $0.54 tariff . Grotesque .
Hi Christian- wow, you are a very impressive 14 year old. Look into Hemp. Hemp already produces 4 times the ethanol per acre over corn (imagine what they can do with improved strains) with very little pesticides. Ron Paul supports the legalization of Hemp and has introduced legislation for it. You will be amazed when you look into Hemp- and you'll wonder why it was ever made illegal in the first place.
This question I was not going to put on the debate, I have another one (just needs a little editing)where CNN told me it was too long but said they were very interested in the question. It pretty much talks about the same thing except to MR RG JM. I did this because I am doing a spotlight question to every candidate.
Ya, the "energy-returned-on-energy-invested" is like 12% at best. It's the worst legislation out there. What Ron Paul would oppose is funding by government of any energy research and development..that should be done by the private sector (where the better engineering brains work, and are more incentivized to actually come up with an economical solution rather than an expedient political solution).
Im glad you said corn ethanol barley breaks even, you use nearly just as much oil to make the energy than what you get out
Ron pauls stance is, free markets and no subsidies!
So in this situation, the farmers will definitely not be able to produce corn ethanol because it is not economically viable!
As long as the government doesn't have to subsidise the companies, ron paul is for it. So if nuclear companies are viable then let companies build nuclear ect ect

Hemp kinda sucks for that purpose.

Besides which, it probably has the same obvious downside as soybeans.

Hemp can be planted over and over without rotation. It grows wild in many kinds of soil, many climates and needs no pesticides or fertilizers.

You're a smart kid. Impressive. I'd recommend that if you want your question aired on TV, that you don't provide what you believe is the answer.
You basically could've asked "Do you support the switch to ethanol, which is total bullcrap?"
Hope to see your question picked.
